Why wasn't Scooby Doo and the Gang horribly murdered at some point?

Oh wow, I never made that connection, but I never seriously watched the original cartoon.

What about the
professor who said he remembered the old reality as well? Was that a part of the original cartoon?

Nope the original cartoon was basically a "monster of the week" show that had no overarching plot of deep characterization. That ending basically retconned everything (unofficially) and gave the reason why they were traveling with no clear destination to begin with in the 1960's.

I found the video where this gif is from. It's more... conservative than I would have l liked.

I want this Scooby gang.

Mystery Incorporated is probably my favorite western animated tv show in existence. It's a shame about the new series.

I also now feel a strong urge to write a gritty, dark and gory detective novel starring a bunch of teenagers trying to solve mysteries.

Their parents could be dead! And they're trying to find the killer!

We all know deep in our hearts that Shaggy
the dog food loving hippie
is the best character in the Scooby Doo franchise!

I get it, it all makes sense now. That makes the ending a lot cooler in my book!

If you take the conclusion of Mystery Inc the reality reworked itself to revolve around the gang. They are sort of like Neo in the Matrix, an anomaly that falls outside of the rules

i watched the first live action scooby doo as a kid and i don't remember any of it except for one scene where fred and daphne switch bodies, and fred (in daphne's body) says "cool, now i'm going go get naked and look at myself in the mirror."

like it's a fucking kid's movie what the hell
It was originally going to be a raunchy 2000's parody movie before it got reworked into what it was.

I went into this thread looking for silly responses and instead went to watch Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. on Netflix. Thanks guys, found a new show to watch. First episode was actually pretty good.

Oh my God Mystery Inc is so fucking good.

Thank you Wolf!

Yeah I just started watching today. On Episode 8. It's fun enough. Better than expected.

Thanks!

One weird thing is the stark contrast, to me, between Scooby and the Gang.
Scooby looks straight out of the old show. Almost completely unchanged. Meanwhile the gang look quite a bit different. Not so much shaggy, but it's odd to see Scooby next to these guys.

Some of the things Scooby says are unexpectedly hilarious.

Thanks to this thread, I've started watching Mystery Incorporated, and I'm loving it so far. I just don't buy the idea that they're teenagers in high school though. On episode 8 now.

Watched the first episode of Mystery Incorporated. Was pretty underwhelming. Felt more contrived than it needed to be. And why did they have Fred obsessed with traps rather than mechnical engineering or something a little less on the nose? I hope it gets better.

I've been watching since 1981 or 2. One of my favorite shows.

But I swear to god someone would have shot Fred in the face or had Daphne locked in a cabin for a sex slave about two months into their incorporation.

you got to stick through for a few episodes but stuff that seems corny or illogical early on actually becomes meaningful later.
Even Fred's weird obsessing with traps has a deeper meaning.

So from this thread I take it Mystery Inc. is pretty good? I think I am going to binge watch all the other shows again (Scooby Doo is one of my fav cartoons) and then watch Mystery Inc. I actually had no idea this existed.

Holy shit this thread convinced me people haven't seen Mystery Inc. Go watch it! It's really great and the best interpretation of the gang! It starts slow at first (as per usual) but man you'll get hooked as you get on with it.

Why doesn't the 10 year old main characters from Pokemon games and TV shows get murdered by a member of the organized crime group that they fight? Why do those members of the organized crime groups even play fair in a Pokemon fight. If some little kid was trying to disrupt my criminal organization I would just have multiple members of my organization attack them all at once with their Pokemon instead of fighting them one at a time(or just used a gun to kill them, whatever gets the job done).

Not with XY Ash you won't.

Would you recommend Mystery Inc. to somebody who only has watched a few episode of Scooby-Doo
but who always had a crush on Velma since their childhood
?

More people being convinced to watch Mystery Inc.? Good, it's a great series as a whole, and the final episodes...man.

My favourite Mystery Inc moment has to be the
Search for Spock
scene.

That or
Professor Pericles getting his comeuppance
....Or just any scene with him in general actually.

Daphne and Velma pretty much cover all bases, to be fair. I am a huge Velma fan, but she got kind of annoying at first in the Mystery Inc. series, making a man choose between herself and a dog is mean.

And hilarious.

But also mean.
I would usually laugh this off but Scooby was pretty fierce competition.
How exactly did we end up going from...

Shaggy was a fucking idiot letting Velma slip away like that...

By the end of the show I was hoping
they got back together :(
This threat makes me sad that this doesn't have more seasons. I binged watched it in a weekend and I smiled the whole way through.

can't we just play persona 4 again instead

I have even less real friends now than i did when i first played p4.

I don't want to lose any more ;_;

I love how half of this thread is Velma sexualization and the other half is people seriously getting into Mystery Inc.

Now that i think about it it's very telling than when we were kids Velma was cool because she was a nerd and that was enough, but now that we're adults Velma is cool because "hey, she's actually very sexy behind all the nerdom".
