I just do not trust him enough to win the general election, certainly not enough to risk President Jeb or President Cruz.

Looking through the tables it looks like they polled a lot of independents. I have a hard time believing that many independents will show up to polls for the democratic primary.

Actually, isn't that even better for Bernie? Bernie is seen as being more progressive than Hillary. If independents aren't tilting the numbers significantly in Hillary's favor, doesn't that mean that Bernie is doing even better with the more progressive Democratic base?

42.3% of respondents polled were independent, which is significantly higher than the voter makeup as of the 2012 election and seems unusually high.

Hey look, another person who has no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks for looking that up, I'm on my mobile and feeling a little lazy at the moment. Sample is highly suspect.

GAF needs an intro to statistics thread or something every time election season rolls around.

No, that means this poll is under representing demoractic voters because the included number of independents doesn't provide a realistic representation of New Hampshire voter makeup.

As the Hillary email server scandal unfolds, her polls are going to drop. This is the beginning I think.

for those who don't know: Hillary had a private email server at her house which she used for Top Secret class government correspondence. Your not supposed to keep top secret documents in the home basement, much less a private email server :)

I don't know what's worse: the obvious inaccuracy in relating this "scandal" or the fact that a lot of the people pushing it as a legitimate scandal are Democrats.

if bernie sanders gets the nomination, i think his only path to victory will come down to just how many people the republicans can piss off. he'll be up against millions of dollars he doesn't have.

exactly. We are Democrats for crying out aloud. Act like one. Why are we stooping to Republican level conspiracy theories and stories? We are better than this.

Sanders would be the first democrat president I will vote for if he gets the nomination.

Before that, I was a Republican and/or voted Green Party.

If by some odd reason Nebraska is a crucial state in deciding the Democratic nomination, I will register Democrat and vote Bernie in the primary.

It is a scandal, and it's being pushed by Democrats because its dim significance means that its effect will be pretty short-term, meaning that it will help Sanders versus Clinton but likely won't matter by the time the general election rolls around.

Even if that were true, my point is this. If this meant that there were substantially more independents in this poll, who would normally be seen as favoring Clinton since she is more moderate and with greater name recognition, then wouldn't that mean that the percentage of Democrats voting for Bernie is even higher?

Independents aren't the same as moderates.

Not all of them. But certainly a greater percentage of them would be? Are you saying that the average independent is more progressive than the average Democrat?

And I'm proud to be a Democrat, where at least I know I'm a Democrat, and I won't forget the Democrats, who Democrated for me!

I've been hearing a lot of "I want Bernie, but he probably won't win, so..."

I think if everyone that said that actually voted for him, we might have a chance.

if everyone who had the briefest, fleetest thought of maybe perhaps possibly one day voting for Sanders actually voted for Sanders, it would still be impossible

You'd have to ask them where they fall on the spectrum, there are people who register as independent for a lot of different reasons and to treat them all, or mostly, as moderates is a mistake. Not only that, but perhaps they would have different criteria of picking out a candidate. Perhaps they don't care as much about electablility as a Democrat would. All that said, unless we see another poll or two that gives these same results this could be nothing more than statistical noise.

A vote for Bernie Sanders is a vote for a Republican landslide, a vote for four or more years of fuck you hard right policy, a vote for the replacement of Justice Ginsberg with a conservative zealot.

Think long and hard at what you're playing at, progressives.

He would be like 74 years old when he BEGINS his term.

Dear lord baby jesus.

Clinton is 67. Trump is 69. Sanders is 73. All the current front runners are really old for some reason. Reagan - the oldest - was 69 at inauguration (not counting his re-election).

How old is Clinton? Whats 5-6 years in today's awesome world of health care.

Don't you worry about her age, she's just chillin' in Cedar Rapids!

Holy shit those are real? I thought they were part of the daily show fake ones. I almost want to buy one but don't want to give money to Hilary.

Because running a negative is an effective tactic when you're behind.

I doubt it. The Obama block will go for him. And he will gain too from "anti establishment" moderates / conservatives.

Still, even if he won NH that doesnt mean he is getting the nom. Ron Paul won Iowa in 2012 lol.

It's a vote to pull Hillary to the left, back to where the DNC used to be.

Nice fear tactics, maybe you should pursue a career at the European union or become friends with Putin, I don't know.
