I promise this is the last rumor I'll be posting today. I dived into Gallifreybase to see what they had to see about that earlier (pretty unbelievable) rumor I posted earlier, and it's already old news over there, as always I suppose (most people there don't believe it either, for what it's worth).
Anyway, the new big thing they were talking about is this, concerning the Private Eye business. Someone on 4chan (and that's really all the source there is, so yeah) posted this, and then on Reddit, but removed it from Reddit pretty quickly:
I have news /who/ -
Only 3 Specials in 2016 no full series.
This is to allow Peter Capaldi to direct a film he has written for the BBC loosely based on his experiences in the Glasgow punk scene of the late 70's. (This was already a stipulation in his second contract)
To search for a new companion (Coleman is leaving in Special #2 or maybe #3)
And to allow time for a new production team to be assembled and prepare for series 10. (Moffat is definitely leaving before the 2016 Christmas Special.)
So basically we are getting another year similar to 2009.
I can't tell you how I know all this, I have seen other people get the sack for doing much less than this, but -
a) I've never got info as hot as this before and I can't resist sharing it, eventhough I know I won't be believed.
b) The info is going to break soon anyway. The BBC's showbiz reporter Lizo Mzimba was here tonight doing an interview with Moffat,Capaldi Gatiss & Coleman.
Just so when the news does break You know I wasn't bull¤¤¤¤ting Capaldi's film has the provisional title of "Teenage Kicks" That will be included in the reports/press releases.
Been a long exciting night Now I'm off to bed.
And a bit later:
Bean spiller from last thread here.
Just letting you know that the BBC are issuing a press release "concerning the future of Dr Who" on Fri 14th August at 12pm UK time.
Expect news on Moffat's leaving/possible successor, Jenna's leaving,Capaldi film & 2016 gap year specials. After press release the interviews with Coleman,Capaldi,Moffat and Gatiss will go out on 1pm news and longer versions at 6pm & 10pm. Still no news why Gatiss was interviewed though, they seem to be keeping real quiet on that.
To me it just sounds like a fan putting together a couple of dots. It's fairly well known that Capaldi has been wanting to make something like that but that it's been stuck in development hell for years. I don't think for a second that he would put the show on hold to do it now though. If it really was part of his contract he'd wait until after his time on the show is over.
Some people on Gallifreybase did say it some of it fit into other things they heard - including Moffat getting ready for a different project (working on a 'bigger' version of an existing property, but not a movie version of Sherlock (someone asked). It could be the time for a Doctor Who movie if it's true - Moffat always said he wanted to do it himself if it happened during his run, but that there was never going to be enough time to do it without sacrificing the show. He is the kind of man who likes to leave his mark on the history of the show, so who knows. The amount of coverage he's promising does seem a bit much for an announcement like that.
We don't have any reason to believe any of this is true, but the only reason I'm posting it is that they've said that the BBC will announce all of this next friday. We'll see soon enough if it's true or not.
That's it for me and Doctor Who rumors for now. There's too many much up nonsense surrounding this show that it's not worth it - I mostly just like enjoying the episodes. Gallifreybase isn't exactly a fun place to visit either. So yeah, I'll leave it at this for today.
