Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones | Production Thread

How the hell does a almost 6 foot actress look like she's petite to a taller person?

Also, the logo looks like crumbled paper, sad it's not the typewriter font.

Eh... there was a quality to the AKA I liked, but just 'Jessica Jones' reads better. Besides, it kinda separates her from the superhero side a little bit, separates her from other characters who have alter egos. She's not anyone else, she's just Jessica Jones.
 
The AKA was there because the comic the show is based on is called "Alias" and of course that's already an existing show so they can't use that. But eventually I guess they realized it was kinda pointless if everyone was going to focus on the Jessica Jones part of the name anyway.

Well, they could now. Alias (one of my favourite series, by the way) and Jessica Jones are now under the same corporate umbrella. Both are produced by the same studio.
And it is not like the Alias is still in the public's view. As much as I hate to say it, the series is almost forgotten. Some elements of it, like Jennifer Garner's looks, are remembered, but the series as a whole is not. The final season of the series actually started around 10 years ago.
Alias would even mix well, with the spy side of the MCU.

Show or movie titles are also not exclusive.

You can also see how they want to keep the two apart, to avoid any confusion?

Plus, Jessica Jones is the perfect name for a show that focuses on a superpowered person who is just trying to pay the bills and get through life like anyone, instead of donning a leather suit and fighting crime.

Yes and no.
I mean it is not like they tried to avoid confusion between DareDevil and the Ben Affleck movie, for example.
And it is not uncommon, that multiple series share the same name.

On the one hand, I don't think, people should be confused about it.
On the other hand I have seen poeple on twitter, who said they won't bother with DareDevil on Netflix, because they did not like the movie, and apparently thought it is the same thing.

The movie and show darefevil are about the same character.

Alias with Jennifer Garner has nothing to do with marvels alias.

Calling it Alias would just add a whole other level of confusion when searching or Googling the show. Keep in mind this will be on Netflix which has the Jennifer Garner Alias show on it and that would show up any time someone tried to search for it there. It just doesn't make sense to keep it when there's a better fitting alternative.

That's all true, but if they want to avoid names that are already used, why didn't they for example add a subtitle to the DareDevil series, to avoid confusion with the movie, which can also be found on Netflix.
Or what about The Defenders?
There are like at least 3 more TV series with that name.

The could have also kept the Alias title, by calling it "Alias Jessica Jones" wit some optional punctuation after the "Alias".

There's zero marketing reason to keep the Alias title. It has no value at all. It's an obscure limited series which most people will have never heard of before. We're not talking about something like Avengers here. :P
 
Almost everything in the Marvel movieverse is named after the lead character/group, so Jessica Jones makes more sense than Alias.

I think you're right that the new DD show should have used a subtitle, but the situation isn't comparable to JJ/Alias since both the DD movie and show are literally about the same character. Kind of unavoidable. Searching Netflix right now, there's nothing else on there that shows up when you search "The Defenders" so they're good on that front.

Yeah, at least there was a Alias Comic at some point.
Would have been fun for people looking for Jessica Jones if the had not renamed the Alias book.

That's not really saying much the alias comicbook wasn't very off the wall to begin with besides Purple Man actually being purple. At most the guests in the story were fantastic (Scott Lang, Ms Marvel, Luke Cage, Spider Girl etc etc) and all of that was to reinforce the effect and contrast her calling her mom in NJ, paying bills and picking up dudes at a bar. Saying that she jumps in the show is more grounded is silly, she never learned to use her power of flight and hence didn't use it in the comics. "Oh but she dont fly AT ALL in the show" ...wow how grounded.

She is going to take a 125 lb frame and beat down grown men with next to no exertion , how grounded.
 
Bumped into David Tennant yesterday. He tells me this is still filming? I'm guessing he doesn't have a Kingpin-level of presence in Jessica Jones?
 
Would be interesting if they could get Paul Rudd to make an appearance on the show. Not like he isn't a stranger to a Netflix production.

But I at least hope for a DD appearance.

I figure if anyone from the film is down to pop into Netflix, it's the guy who makes time to appear in offbeat stuff regardless of whether it has any value to his career.
