there goes my way of sneaking in snacks
A thread about an ineffective and honestly inconvenient new policy in the name of paying lip service to safety that might result in more expensive movie tockets to boot?
This is fear mongering PR that will do nothing to save anyone's life.
Btw the least you could do is admit you assaulted someone.
I gave an example. It's not as simple as it used to be.
An example of what? All you highlighted was that you assaulted someone out of paranoid fear.
I assaulted someone who ran after asking if he was sitting there. Keep stretching.
sometimes i love sneaking in food more than watching the actual movie, this is the only place i am comfortable admitting it
my greatest heist was sneaking in a wet smothered (mojada style) fire steak burrito and a giant monster energy drink while watching mad max, it was glorious
my friend has snuck in an entire pizza, that man is truly legend
Heaven forbid people go 2 hours without eating.
I understand why, but if some jackass wants to shoot up a cinema, then frankly, unfortunately, these measures won't stop them. It won't change anything.
The best they could do is enforce a total ban on weapons and set up metal detectors and/or post security guards.
But this is a fucking cinema we're talking about. It'll cost a lot of money and moviegoers will have to pay for it.
Though of course America could enforce stricter gun laws and implement more safeguards such as background screenings and mental health evaluations, but that'd be too rational.
I almost can't believe that you can justify assaulting someone for doing something completely unrelated to another thing. A bombing happened a year prior in a different location that wasn't a theater and the paranoia in your brain triggered that and instead of trying to think of a plausible reason you take the law into yourself which again no real probable cause even if you were and you physically assault the man.I assaulted someone who ran after asking if he was sitting there. Keep stretching.

The rate of violent crime is decreasing and yet fear of violence seems to be increasing.
From the article:
Security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America. Regal Entertainment Group wants our customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working in our theatres.
and ...
"In a recent survey by research group C4, nearly 50% of moviegoers said they would pay $1 or more extra to support additional security measures in theaters. The issue for exhibitors is that installing metal detectors or arming security personnel could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per location and would create problems in terms of seating people in a timely fashion."
This isn't about sneaking food in to the movies, either.
It's their rules. If it's mainly to check for outside food, guess what, a lot of restaurants don't allow outside food or drinks. Why do you feel like you can do whatever you want at their venue?
Security issues my ass. They just want to stop you from bringing in snacks and are trying to pretend they're looking out for you.
This sounds like bs to stop people from sneaking in food.
Anecdotally it seems like employees are being instructed to ignore any food or drink and only check for weapons. So seemingly it's really not about food. They still don't give a shit if you bring in food.
Yet another reason not to go see movies in a theater. I can see movies from the comfort of my home, without brats and their cellphones talking all through it, having to pay $7 for a soda, $3 extra for 3D glasses, and with the ability to pause the movie and use the bathroom if I want to.
Yeah i've really never understood paying 11$ to watch a movie with a bunch of inconsiderate assholes chewing food loudly, talking through a movie, and using their cell phones. like why the fuck do people still use theaters

So you at least admit you assaulted someone.

What you did was not rational thinking and it's mind boggling that this conversation is still going on and you are still trying to rationalize your assault and trying to justify that you had real cause because some did something that you didn't like and instead of being an adult about it and leaving if you felt uncomfortable you grabbed and pushed him.. You are lucky that he wasn't a mass murderer because if he was he wouldn't of grabbed the bag he would of blew you and everyone else up in the theater after you pissed him off some more but instead you terrified him, ruined his night and probably emotionally damaged the guy all because you can't control your shit.
I really wish the kid called the cops on you.
The guy who checked my girl's purse said they are not looking for food. It was quick glance into her purse, they didn't actually touch the bag itself.
I don't know about US but in UK you're allowed to bring food in so long as it isn't hot. No hot food is because it smells.
They just don't shout that info to you because they like the idea people aren't sure.
