Shouldn't Bungie give us a 4th character slot to experience all Destiny v2.0 offers?

Luckily, I still have a Level 2 Titan which I only created to fill in the 3rd character slot... so I'll gladly delete him and start the story mode over from scratch, to experience all the patch 2.0 changes (replaced Ghost voice acting, new organization of missions / quests, etc).

But many hard Destiny players out there have all 3 character slots with level 30/32/34 characters. Sure, you could just go back and replay the missions to experience the new voicework and presentation changes, but I think something would be lost without going at it fresh.

Bonus: I hope they update the free "demo" version as well... to give people on the fence a chance to try the NEW game and see if they find it better... I have a few skeptical friends that this would be good for...

I don't get why they only ha e three slots to start with. Bungie seems intent on policing how much people play their game. It's annoying.

LOL so ironic given the game informer video yesterday

i hate my warlock maybe deleting and seeing the revamped campaign will make me love such an inferior class of guardian. Also, you don't technically have to start your character over to experience the remixed story

That'd be cool but knowing Bungie they'd bundle in extra character slots for the first game with a pre-order of Destiny 2+All of it's DLC.

I'd be into that. Probably don't need it, but since I've got two characters in the twenties, using my one time use level boost on one of them seems like a waste.

No way I'd bother playing through everything again fresh just to witness the changes. I don't really see how that would be necessary though, considering there will likely be plenty of opportunities to run through the heroic story missions to complete bounties and level up new gear.

They're giving you an item that will immediately boost one new character to level 25 with The Taken King.

To be fair, every character is stored onto the Bungie servers, which a ridiculous amount of detail and history is saved onto. K / D ratio, assists, accuracy and timestamps for every single play session ever and every single activity ever and stuff.

I can imagine they wanted to avoid wasting space because of some fool who makes like, seventy Level 3 characters because he loves the first mission so much or something equally daft.

Edit : just make a new PSN ID / Gamertag. Gold / Plus is shared across the entire system, and you probably won't care about the account after you've replayed the vanilla story anyway.

Seems like Bungie is going out of their way to cater to new players more than the year-long beta testers who paid full price for game plus each expansion.

Wtf is this, new players get just as many characters as old ones. They're not "going out of their way" to do anything for new players.

I only have one max level character, but both other slots are used. The Hunter was my brothers though and he never got very far, so I guess I'll just delete that and start a new one sometime after I get TKK

This is literally the opposite of what the OP is asking for, though...

...? Only if there's a completely new class. 3 slots is fine for the game. Blizzard only does it when they introduce a new class or race, and Destiny is simply adding a new subclass to each of the 3 classes. So no, it wouldn't make sense to add a 4th slot.

What makes people say this as if every Dev doesn't want to focus on bringing in new or casual players in addition to their hardcore fan base. I'm guessing Bungie isn't some special snowflake the feels the need to specifically target one type of player over the other.

Just have the ability to turn on the missions quest as if starting a new char, with added difficulty (since the hard difficulty goes away when you beat the missions).

I don't even mean just the characters. I mean the 100 marks per week. The maximum of 200 marks stored. The 20000 glimmer stores. The limited vault space.

I know they are expanding some of that but if I wanna play 50 hours of destiny one week because I won't be playing much for a while afterwards, just let me pocket a ton of marks already.

Yea, it sucks for people who have been playing 3 different characters and have them decently geared up.

Fortunately I've been waiting to roll a hunter, so I'm going to be able to go through everything from the start.

I dont even understand why theres a limit to begin with, i should be able to make as many characters as i want as long as theres memory space on my harddrive

I think we'll get a 4th class when Destiny 2 comes out next fall, but yeah, until then I don't think we'll get another character slot.

They made it so there's no limit to how many Legendary Marks (the new mark currency that replaces crucible and vanguard marks but are functionally the exact same thing) you can earn in a week. There's still a 200 cap, but once you spend that you can go right back to earning more. So at least there's that.

I'd like to be able to transfer my chars from X1 to PS4, even if I have to pay a fee. They could at least consider it as a one time offer.

But if I have to start over, so be it, I'm seriously looking at starting over as a fresh character.

Likely a Microsoft/Sony issue and not a bungie/activision one.

I don't mind the 3 character limit... but I would like to be able to change what my character looks like, and not lose all the progress I made with it.

That's not always how development work. Especially when all characters are server side.

His reason is "something would be lost". Completely subjective and not a valid reason for creating another slot right now.

"something would be lost" is neither subjective nor an invalid reason.

URK just confirmed this in the other thread.

If you want another character to play the Destiny 2.0 story then create a free sub account within PSN or XBL. One slot per class is enough. Or just play the missions over again on your old characters. Problem solved.

What exactly would be lost? It's completely relative to the person playing the game. I've played through the destiny campaign 5 times. Trust me nothing is lost starting over. Instead I gained an even greater disgust for the story telling.

Edit: if you're talking about xp gain would be lost I guess that's an objective point although I thought this was about playing for the experience or the new story? I thought that's what people are getting out of this.

That's a real, real weird reaction. You act like you'd be forced to use the fourth character slot if it was added.

Also, given how... zealous much of Destiny gaf is (nightfall and both raids 3x a week), I am sure many actually would feel like they had to use that fourth slot.

What would be lost by deleting a saved game/character? ....... ok........ I'm done.
