Shouldn't Bungie give us a 4th character slot to experience all Destiny v2.0 offers?

I'd like to be able to transfer my chars from X1 to PS4, even if I have to pay a fee. They could at least consider it as a one time offer.

But if I have to start over, so be it, I'm seriously looking at starting over as a fresh character.

Yeah I wish your characters traveled from network to network, but I wouldn't pay to do it. I wish the DLC was interchangable. Hell, the whole game should be, I wish more games would be like Portal 2 with cross platform buy. Maybe one day Destiny players from every platform can play together... I have a dream

No they shouldn't unless they added an entirely new clsss. More slots would mean more chances for people to run Nightfall, raids etc.

They have to keep a lid on things like this or else people would exploit the hell out of it.

Eh..yeah? If there was an additional character slot you would also have to level that up to 40.
It's still a caveat compared to pre 2.0 where you could just save your armor for level 20 then shoot back up to whatever you were. Now level and light level are disconnected. You have more to lose by restarting. If anything though that's more of a point towards the OPs views. A fourth slot would mitigate that fear of XP grinding back to 40.

I think there's very few people that would use a 4th slot unless they introduced a new class.

I guess the best argument is playing through with a friend from the beginning, I am not sure how they would implement a 4th slot without a new class when it would throw things out of wack in my opinion but I guess if they charge for a slot or if it is included in an expansion.

I think it is completely valid because Diablo 3 needs the slots for both ladder and hardcore since characters are seperate for those modes.

Destiny doesn't have that issue.

An excuse would suggest Bungie has failed to provide an adequate reason for not giving players a fourth slot. Has there been an uproar over another slot? Has Bungie said "no we can't."

As far as I can tell it revolves around three.

3 class, 3 subclasses, 3 weapon slots, Half Life 3; therefore 3 character slots.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but theres also way more room for different builds among those 5/6 classes, and several different difficulties you might want to play that change the game considerably, some with permadeath.

Not that I'd argue against more player freedom, but you're missing nothing but weekly lockouts in Destiny by having three characters. Otherwise its the same game with all options available.

At some point it boils down to having a new bar to fill, and if thats all youre looking for delete the character and start over - all other progress can be saved in one way or another.
Valid points, but it is still kinda disappointing design choices in a game that revolves around variety of content and experiencing new playstyles.

I was going to delete my character to restart the game to experience the changes, but I feel like there wouldnt be many changes if at all besides Nolan North since they're giving everyone an item to go to lvl 25 and start straight on the DLC.

What you call exploiting, most gamers would call playing.

How many games give the players every single thing they want? There comes a point where choice < game design balance. Having only 3 slots in no way breaks the destiny experience. The person you're quoting is asserting that having 4 and grinding for marks, coins, etc. on all four is game breaking hence "exploitable" being thrown around.

Who is asking for everything? What's hilarious is that we get similar reactions when we ask Bungie just to give us the base minimum.

I knew you'd cling to that line. Like I said there needs to be a balance between choice and game design and I think they've found a pretty good balance.

Edit: until they add a new class

Noone is keeping you from that. Not even a full roster. Just start a new account. It's not like your current legendaries and exotics will help you re-experiance the early content.

This makes no sense at all

How so? IIRC with the exception of the first mission, which is a 5 minute run and mini tutorial, every mission is replayable.

I was being cheeky =P

They're giving people one item to jump up into TTK, alts will still take the long path up.

I'm deleting my Warlock on the 15th and going in from scratch. Going to lag behind everyone by a week or so but I want to see what's changed and how the prior DLC's have been integrated.

At this point I wouldn't dare delete any of my characters just to hear Nolan North in the tutorial mission and see how (if?) the mission-unlock structure has changed. Youtube can take care of the former and I don't have even a modicum of curiosity about the latter. They all have way too much rep with everyone (rank 3+ with DO/NM/FWC, 10+ with Vanguard, ~25 with the Cryptarch, etc) to be deleted for some superficial reason.

They shouldn't add a fourth slot unless they add a fourth class, which doesn't usually happen to games whose existing class options are the Warrior/Mage/Thief archetypes. Even then, a fourth slot would cause balancing issues, as it means another shot at all the daily/weekly rewards.

so, in short, Bungie should add a fourth slot.

But only if it's Permadeath! :D Would be quite fun to see how far you can manage. And no fireteams either so you can't wuss out.

Create a second psn acct. I believe plus is shared per console. Don't know about dlc.

both true, as long as the owner of said content/subscriptions has an account on the same console.

Luckily, I still have a Level 2 Titan which I only created to fill in the 3rd character slot... so I'll gladly delete him and start the story mode over from scratch, to experience all the patch 2.0 changes (replaced Ghost voice acting, new organization of missions / quests, etc).
Heh, I'm doing the same thing, down to the character being a Titan.

But yeah, I really hope extra character slots are coming. Hopefully they at least do it by year 3, because keeping the 3 character cap through "Destiny 2" would be pretty disappointing (so par for the course).

Personally I wish I could have every gender/race combo to hear every voice. That would be 6 slots though which I doubt will happen soon. Ah well. I could make another Live account or something, but meh. Don't care that much.
