Mission 16 is such fucking bullshit.

I've been really enjoying this game and being able to play it exactly how I want, now I'm at this dumb ass piece of shit mission and it just feels broken. Anyone else had similar troubles? I've resorted to explosives and LMGs, but it's still fucking stupid.

Blow up the first tank, kill the truck driver, use the 2nd tank to take out a few of them and finish the rest with rocket/grenade launchers.

?

Did this actually happen? I remember there being talk about people worried about being banned, but I don't remember it actually happening to anyone. I used DSFix during all of my 300+ hours with that game on PC, constantly playing online with 60 fps on and I never had any issues.
Yes my point is those people were probably cheating or tampering with their save files, hence you do indeed need to be worried if you are cheating online in a Japanese game.

Nope. 7h 5 minutes on PSN

so unlocks at 7am in UK from US PSN

Damn, that sucks. 1 hour 58 minutes remaining until my UK preload unlocks, although my download will be never be finished in time, so I'll probably end up sitting up all night waiting for it to finish until 7am lol.

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
This will be the first mgs I will be playing on launch, pretty excited to live through it with others.

What about Fallout?

Totally subjective of course but Fallout needs to step it up big time, it isn't the final chapter in a long running series - "end of an era" arc, graphics are INSANE, high production values, open world and freedom of choice is just so good. Excluding the story I doubt Fallout can surpass MGSV on a production/technical level.
But again totally subjective, MGS Fans are in for a treat.

This unlock confusion is really annoying. First it was unlocking on the 1st of September in NZ, then it was doing a rolling unlock as eCh timezone reached the 1st of September....both of which were fine with me because I'd be able to play after work tonight. But this US EST crap means I won't be able to play until after work tomorrow.

I'm sorry but all the complaints about too little cutscenes and not enough story baffles my mind. Mgs4 was a bunch of horseshit nonsense. I can't wait to play a game that has more gameplay than story. Bring it on!

Went to bed at 7pm, woke up just now at midnight. Got 2 hours to try and finish up the trials on Ground Zeroes and I can go to TPP 100%!

Uh yeah 30 years of story building and suddenly it's not the focus? People including myself are going to be upset with that.

It's pretty simple, yo. Some of us are in it for the story/cutscenes because we love 'em. I generally don't play games (aside from, like, in party environments) that don't focus on story. It's my jam. And for MGS, that's no exception. MGS is practically the rule.

I mean the only thing I can find online about Dark Souls bans is related to Scholar of the First Sin. We'll see what Konami does about it, but I for one expect to see rampant cheating in the PvP modes.

As someone who is a massive fan of the series, you're not going to be upset. The story told via gameplay is unintrusive. This game is a follow up to Peace Walker and PW did exactly the same thing.... but the cassettes expand on just about everything. I'm 27 hours into it and I feel like there's enough story told in cutscenes to move the plot forward and more told in cassettes to give more context and world build.

I sure hope so. I actually loved MGS4 and all of the other entries. I play games in general for the stories.

God damn, Kinguin hasn't still sent me my key and i am arguing with them about the release time. I've just sent them the KONAMI tweet saying about 12 am EST.

He says he will forward it to their suppliers.... for fucks sake...

As the other fella said, I sure hope so too. I play games firstly for stories, secondarily for gameplay. I'm glad to read this. :)

Im a huge MGS fan and MGSV actually feels like a video game in the metal gear universe instead of interactive set peices featuring some gameplay. The only thing I dont like about the game is some grinding stuff which is bearable at the moment. But I dont know if the grinding will become worse or not.

I hated peace walker since it still had the expository cutscenes with grinding, worst and most jankiest controls and graphics that held the whole package back (MGS games have always pushed the limits of graphics in all gens). At least it was a transitional game that helped create the much much refined TPP.

If I was playing a MGS game and there was little story I would be quite upset, just don't be going in expecting MGS4 length cutscenes and look at it more as shorter chunks in a much bigger story and it's easier to get used to. I can imagine a lot of the complaints with the story come from how much gameplay there is around it. This is a massive game.

Yeah once the smoke clears I think this one is also going to be controversial.

There is barely cutscenes. The ridiculousness of classic MG has been massively toned down. Then there is the FOB and pay stuff. I figure some fans of classic MGS will hate this, and its lack of soul in a lot of the missions. Hayter probably hates it too.

In reality, I think this is what MGS was always meant to be. The games always threw so many weapons and tools at you, but the environment was way too small to let it all come to fruitition. In this game you can actually use it all and blow up what you want. Though I must say, luring away and tranquilizing dudes is still the way to go. Which is a bit of a shame but understandable. I find the gameplay still not really suited for going all out war. The shooting isn't up to snuff (barely feels different from MGS4). But I enjoy sniping a base from afar or calling an airstrike.

I finally managed it, but
it felt like luck and I was never in control of what was going on. I am not looking forward to my next encounter like this...

*sigh* I have to wait until Thursday to get this game...

I'm thinking of stupid ideas to try and get it tomorrow but I doubt they'll work.

Yeah pretty sure that's been the case with every mgo so you're probably right. Hopefully there is some option for private matches with friends.

Don't know if I'm asking for a spoiler, but are there any Snatcher references people have found?

Funny you should mention that...I literally just heard a conversation between two guys on Mother Base, they're talking about Quiet and where her abilities come from. "Come on man, she's not some kind of Bioroid", one of them says.

I also found the news broadcast from P.T playing on a radio in a hut in Africa. :)

I also had issues with the mission....
I cheesed it by getting a checkpoint where I was approaching the door of the truck, which triggered the Skulls.... then I still died about 10 times because I was so annoyed I didn't think to use the tanks.

The game implied you can take the truck and escape, but I can't see how that's possible.

This is VERY ALARMING if true man. I am fine with the game being massive and the story being more broken up, but I am here for the story continuation of the series, not very little story and lots of random gameplay. This post alone brings my hype level down.
