He just wants it to play on PS5 so this version is for exactly this guy.

You're missing a VITAL part of the storyline that takes place in between MGS1 and MGS2 which follows the events of AI testing with Snake in this masterpiece:This look about right? Isn’t there a GBC game? Hmmm
I’m holding out hope that will make it to the Switch’s Game Boy app.Metal Gear Ghost Babel. I consider it an overlooked hidden gem amongst the Metal Gear games and it's a gorgeous game boy color game.

Ghost Babel is one of those rare games that proved to me artistic merit is king when it comes to making games look good or cinematic, no matter the hardware. Voiceover performances and graphics should mostly be seen as just icing on the cake, not always the main course.I’m holding out hope that will make it to the Switch’s Game Boy app.
Reddit is full of Konami simps, it's embarrassing.667 upvotes so at least that many agree with that redditor's take lol.
Wat. MG1 is one of the best games ever in production values alone. The soundtrack is amazing & the voice actors chew the scenery (Especially Liquids) - I've been replaying it in duckstation and I forgot just how good it was, even if it really is just a sequence of bossfights in a row.Skip MG1. MG2 is a must-play however.

Part of me is wondering if this is a new strategy going forward.Just started playing MGS2 after finishing the first game.
It is unbelievable how lazy this PC port is. They should pay the guy who made a resolution patch because he probably did more work on this shit than the people who actually got paid to do the job, lol.
It has worked for Bethesda for a very long time, no surprise others would follow.Part of me is wondering if this is a new strategy going forward.
- Release poorly optimized popular game.
- Let modders fix it.
- Take the modders' hard work and use it as the basis for a future patch.
- Profit.

What? I didn't even know you could exit the game with shoulder buttons.I lost my progress in MGS1 because I didn’t exit the game with the shoulder buttons? This is very stupid.
Yeah save through codec and just exit the game via Steam Overlay. You won’t have your saved data. You have to save and then press L1+R1 to exit. You have to do those two things each time you quit the game or your saves are gone. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. What? I didn't even know you could exit the game with shoulder buttons.
Oh I'm playing on Playstation. Idk if that's a thing.Yeah save through codec and just exit the game via Steam Overlay. You won’t have your saved data. You have to save and then press L1+R1 to exit. It keeps the last save you did when you exited the game through the menu. It’s still stupid. PS3 emulation was better.
You got the best experience. No worries for you then. LolOh I'm playing on Playstation. Idk if that's a thing.

Yes.What did modders do ? I’m waiting for a modder to create native or upscale resolution support for 4K.
Are we there yet ?
Yes.
Whats crazy is that I think I've been saving like that the entire time without even knowing. Save through the codec then exit out through L+R menu. I have no idea if that is actually what you have to do but it's coincidentally how I save and exit MGS1 everytime.Yeah save through codec and just exit the game via Steam Overlay. Unless it's Rockstar Games, then Step 3 is send C&D and Step 4 is sue the modders.Part of me is wondering if this is a new strategy going forward.

It's all over Steam forums and guides. Just make sure to use the updated version (v 0.6 or something like that) because lots of people are spamming the earlier version which didn't scale the UI properly. Not seeing this on nexus ? I see some textures updated but that’s about it.
Cuz I wasn't born in the 2010's and I have at least the expectation for the game itself to function out of the box like back in the day,you know...considering they also upped the asking price "to provide a premium experience" This industry has become so fucked up with normalizing broken releases that people have begun to stan for day1 patches lmaoWhy would you play anything without patches and updates?
Looking at this mod I can see why devs kind of did not touch it (Konami certainly did not pay enough ). “Post processing kind of broken at higher resolutions”, “cutscenes stretched at non 16:9 resolutions”, etc… still it is a mod by amateurs or people working in their spare time, but not something you want to ship to customers. This needed a lot more work and specialised people Konami did not want to hire. It's all over Steam forums and guides. EDIT: Here you go: https://github.com/Lyall/MGSHDFix/releases
Looks like they even updated it again since yesterday, lol.
Been playing in 4k using this patch and the only thing I noticed is that the little video interference that sometimes happens on character portraits in codec convos is at a different size than the actual portrait. Which isn't even a big deal because it's just a minor visual glitch that's barely even noticeable. Other than that the game's been running flawlessly for me.Looking at this mod I can see why devs kind of did not touch it (Konami certainly did not pay enough ). “Post processing kind of broken at higher resolutions”, “cutscenes stretched at non 16:9 resolutions”, etc… still it is a mod by amateurs or people working in their spare time, but not something you want to ship to customers. Do you need a PS2 memory card too?Yeah save through codec and just exit the game via Steam Overlay. You won’t have your saved data. You have to save and then press L1+R1 to exit. These people are uncomfortable the moment they wake up in the morning.
You can change the resolution with one simple hex change, it's bizarre that they didn't at least give you the option to do this, the functionality is literally already in the gameJust started playing MGS2 after finishing the first game.

Nah play them both. MG1 is about half the length which is actually a good thing. Really enjoying both however.Skip MG1. MG2 is a must-play however.
Maybe it's those little UI and VFX issues that people who used the unofficial patch reported. Because, you know, optimising and fixing these issues sounds like A LOT of work, and there's no way anyone has time to do that. No way, what do you think this is? You paid 60 dollars and you expect that someone would actually work on these games? All the budget already went towards the tacky launcher menus! You can change the resolution with one simple hex change, it's bizarre that they didn't at least give you the option to do this, the functionality is literally already in the game
That would be great for a Konami release, but I wouldn't hold my breath.Don't worry, they will give the game "No Man Sky" treatment as almost all companies do these days. Release a half assed game and then patch it and hear the community and work hard all these year and redemption and all that bs.
You are correct, they may not bother at all. But even if they will, it is bad again. This is becoming a trend. That would be great for a Konami release, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
All I was saying was games without day 0 patches usually play pretty wonky.Cuz I wasn't born in the 2010's and I have at least the expectation for the game itself to function out of the box like back in the day,you know...considering they also upped the asking price "to provide a premium experience" This industry has become so fucked up with normalizing broken releases that people have begun to stan for day1 patches lmao
