Um wtf, maybe mark that as late game spoilers? I'm pretty sure that person was asking within context of what MGS fans would know at that same point (I'm past mission 31 and I didn't know this).

Well, I don't feel to spoiled to be honest. Spoilers, but not beyond what that guy said:
It is not exactly that hidden. I am not even that far but that is what I figured by looking at the character models and their actions. Two trademarks of one of the series most iconic bosses; the mask and psychic powers. And timeline-wise it makes sense for him to be a kid.

As for the man on fire, it is the posture and the bullets in/on him (looking like the ones he played around with in 3) that give a clue And then there is that line of dialouge during the motorcycle chase that says this, I quote: "Persistant bastard. Wait a minute.... Back from the dead huh?" It was very clearly foreshadowed to be familiar character and 1+1 makes 2 in this case. I found it to be somewhat cheap that this was ignored afterwards to be honest, since he was clearly recognized.

Hell, maybe it is still a speculation of that poster still (didn't read thoroughly). But I wouldn't be surprised considering how Kojima ties all his games with recurring characters

Still, I think people indeed should be more careful with giving confirmations and announce the degree of spoiler content in a clear way. Thankfully in this case I figured as much.

Month? I thought it was a week.

Miss the memo?

PC singleplayer release was brought up to match console singleplayer release (1 Sept)

MGO console release was pushed back a month (6 October)

MGO PC release was pushed back four months (1 January)

Haven't had the time to go through all the reviews yet, have any mentioned a rough estimate of how long the game takes to complete? Trying to decide if I should grab this or wait till after a long upcoming business trip.

If you mainline the story and make it easy for yourself doing some side-ops, I'd say 40 hours. I'm only 15 hours in, though, mind.

The full thing is giant, probably 70+ hours

Damn. Well I'm still at the beginning, so I assume it gets harder, thanks.

My goodness it gets harder.

So for those who have a limited editon MGS V console, do you have a typo on your console?

oops

Have done a search for the word but found nothing, spellcheck me if old.

yup it was on reddit a few days ago, someone said their was atypo on the plastic hand as well lol....

Go to the right-most tab in the iDroid (Missions?) Choose the top option (Supply drop?) And then choose ammo/items I think, the top option again.

You can also press up/down on the d-dpad at the map screen to select an equipment drop at the point you have selected on the map.

You can also call in helicopter extractions this way, as well as a few other functions.

Is there a shortcut button to start/stop tape playback? Or any quicker way that having to press start, go to the missions header, then go the the tape header and press stop?

Guys how does the Fultoning work? I've done this side ops and I fultoned at least 5 guys including one with a ???? skill. It was a extract prisoner mission btw. When I got back to heli after the mission and checked the mother base I only got one guy.
All of my extractions had 100% chance I checked. How does it work? Was I supposed to wait untill they arrive until I get back to chopper or?

That is such a minor typo I'd be ok with it. It isn't like it's Capcpom and mispelling their company name or Revelations, one of the more common video game subtitles.

A true typeo would be Meatl Gare Soild. Step your game up Konami.

I'm not sure if my game has crashed (ps4) after
the prologue, when ocelot tells you about kaz
, it goes to a screen saying installing game data, do not turn off the system, 203 seconds, but it is not doing anything.
I can press the home button, and move around the menu, so its not an issue with the ps4.
I have tried restarting the game again, it just takes you to the score screen from the first mission, and repeats the install screen again.
Anyone had this problem?

edit- restarted the console, seems to be installing now

Are there any intermittent sneaking speeds?

I have a fast crous walk and then hold control to move at a snail pace. Is there anything in between?

Chaos Theory had the best mouse controls for sneaking. How do you mix in analog control with a system with no inherent analog ability? The mouse wheel of course. Scroll down to super sneak, scroll up to move quickly.

Are there any snowy areas?

That would have been amazing.

Snow coming down at night, the crunch of snow signifying approaching soldiers, DD sleeping in a drift...

I've only played about 2 hours of the game so far but I was already blown away. I stayed up until 12:00 AM on a work night to play and even had a hard time falling asleep because of the amazing intro.

I'm gonna say this here but I don't want or expect any answers:
I'm not even sure that I'm playing Big Boss at this point. We had that whole deal of selecting an avatar and changing his face, and then the bandaged soldier helps me escape and Ocelot avoids questions of 'who was that guy?' in the tapes. I feel like Big Boss was actually the bandaged up guy and we're some clone or some poor sap that was brainwashed for 9 years into thinking he might be Big Boss. Maybe I'm completely off base but my mind is blown just considering the possibility.

I really wish I could have stayed up longer and played, and now I'm sitting at work with 9 hours until 5 before I can go home and play again. I should have taken some time off.

Also, it runs perfectly at 1440p with max settings. Wonderfully optimized and I've seen no issues. GTX 680, i5 2500k.

I hate it when a game does not explain the icons in the menu. Couldn't find any info on the following things in the manual:

(1) Some audio tracks on tapes are colored yellow. Does that mean that they are especially important?

(2) What's the meaning of the stat icons on the profile page of Diamond Dog members?

(3) Is there a way to see the stats of an enemy before fultoning him back to Mother Base?

Anyone you fulton WILL be sent to your Mother Base - unless it says 'Fulton extraction failed'. This only happens usually if the person is injured or if you're indoors or in a sandstorm.

However, they might go in your Brig until you bring them around to the Diamond Dogs way.

When the option opens up, go back and play the hospital mission on Hard. You'll get some answers.

For the third there is an upgrade to the binoculars for that

No way is it 30 hours. 30 hours would be a Chicken Hat runthrough, and even then you'd encounter problems.

I'm getting towards 20 hours and I'm only on mission 13 or something. I'd call the game 40-50 hours.

It's fucking good though. You'll enjoy it.

Totally depends on context mate. Sometimes you'll get a prisoner with a lead, sometimes you have to eavesdrop on guards, sometimes you pick up intel in a building. Just keep your ears out and pay close attention to each base you travel through in a side op or main mission. Opportunities for new side ops quite often.

Totally agree. I have pumped like 34 hours already into the game by free roaming / side ops and the main missions. I only just got to
Africa
and am enjoying taking my time and savoring every moment.

I dont get people who are just derping through the game to complete it, but each to their own.

Oh yeah, everyone with the console version should pick up the companion app, I'm able to sit here at work and listen to the cassette tapes that I acquired over the last couple hours of gameplay.

Question for those who have been playing a while. I'm planning to either play in one of the following ways:

1. All HUD elements OFF but reflex mode ON.
2. Vice versa, all HUD elements ON and reflex mode OFF.

I'm leaning towards 1 but which would you recommended (maybe neither and I should just play default)? (FYI I've played every game in the series and usually complete games on Hard.)

How are people finding KB/M control on the PC version? I played through the prologue last night and thought it was kinda half-assed, but I won't know for sure until I play more. Looking around didn't feel smooth at all, the menus are a pain (I use ASDX rather than WASD) to navigate, and I'm curious how sneaking is going to go without analog movement. I'm tempted to just use my DS4, but I usually prefer mouse aiming in shooters.

Does this mean there isn't one? :(

1. I think it means they're story important? I'm not sure, but they don't get marked white once you've listened to them.

2. You'll learn about these in due course. You don't need to know about them yet. They're all very useful. The game drips you Mother Base systems info bit by bit. Keep doing main missions and fultoning people.

3. Yes. Check the Development screen for you Tools.

2 is the way I'm playing and it's a totally viable way to play. Turns out great.

I tried 1 for a while. It's fucking hard and you don't even get your custom markers which are super important for planning and spatial awareness.

I'd recommend keeping it all on, reflex mode is take it or leave it, but HUD is so useful for first time playthrough.

How's everyone finding the game? Personally I think it's got the best gameplay mechanics I've ever seen and played.

I love how fluid the transition between stealth and combat is. It's not an automatic death sentence to be spotted, and killing a few guys, having to improvise when things wrong, and making a daring escape while an army is bearing down on you is a thrilling, emergent way to play.

There's still the supreme satisfaction of pulling off the perfect stealth mission, but for my first play through I love that I'm able to slip up here and there and not have to reload a checkpoint because there are so many ways to tackle any given situation.

I also can't wait until the enemy starts adapting to my tactics.

Post Mission 25 -
So, there's an infection spreading through Mother Base and it's asking me to assign infected to the quarantine.... is there, realistically, any way to tell or am I supposed to just keep going with missions until something happens?

Thanks guys. I've been wondering because I remember that feature from a gameplay demo.

No problem. Also, elsewhere in the game, 'Yellow' means special or important. Eg if a guy tells you where a specialist or an elite soldier is, their red triangle has a little yellow dot (only on iDroid map I think)

I presume the same goes for anything including cassette tapes.

I'm about 40 hours in and 18% complete, on episode 14.

I played for about 5 hours last night and went form 16 to 18%. I did two episodes and about 6 side ops.
