I just need to eat, spend an hour or two watching some shows with my wife and then I can play this properly. Can't wait to get stuck in.

Nearing the 40 hour mark and have yet come close to the end of the story, I take my time and replay missions and stuff. Especially now with the score rankings up I will try to get high on the leaderboards, though some of these scores are crazy.

I hit another giant stretch of little to no story, nor boss battles. Core gameplay is excellent, missions have some good variety but that is no susbstitue for a boss battle, they serve as the pick me up moments to break up the normal flow. I feel I need the normal flow broken up again, pacing may be the biggest issue with this game. Strange cause pacing in MGS games were perfect.

As for buddies,
quiet, holy shit, she is unstoppable. I think she should take over the missions.

Everyone is directed awfully in this.

Kiefer doesn't seem to know the context in which he's talking, most of the time.

Troy Baker doesn't seem to know what Ocelot's voice is supposed to be.

Robin A. Downes seems to have recorded lines as two different Kaz's. "Good job, Boss!" vs. "The pain ... won't stop hurting".

James Horan was clearly thrown under a bus, direction-wise.

A couple of the other characters are goofy also.

Jay Tavare is the only actor who puts in a consistently solid performance. I guess Quiet is consistent too, though, lol.

I keep getting Bs because I take my time :(

May as well use the bloody chicken hat

I don't think time is as crucial as some believe it is to get an S. I spent well over an hour on missions
6
and
12
and still got an S. I think it's more dependant on how many of the initially hidden objectives you complete while also keeping down alerts in one run.

so now everyone's playing do people find dynamic cqc as badass as I do?
I mean they sacrificed some realism, by making cqc have a magnet range, but it's worth it for reliable cqc gameplay.

You mean chaining people with CQC? It's useful if you're in that situation and has been since Peace Walker, but I never really used it.

That may be why, I had 1 alert and didnt do the hidden objectives

couldnt even guess what they were

I'm stuck at work until 6. Is the game living up to reviews?

I'm on mission 20 now and it's the best game i've ever played, no joke.

It plays just so fucking good, the graphics are amazing, what Kojima Productions delivered here with Fox Engine is some voodoo black magic shit, it's extremely polished, best stealth game ever, best enemy AI... those bastards are so smart, it's so much fun when the AI challenges you and later on when the missions get tougher seeing that "mission complete" screen is so goddamn rewarding, what a game.

Also i highly recommend everyone to take their sweet time with the game and look at everything, there is just so much detail.

D-Horse is the most realistic horse in gaming, just look at him how he moves his mouth, ears etc. Same for D-Dog.

You can tell there went so much love and passion into this game, it's incredible.

Boxes with anime posters on them are my new favorite thing to lure soldiers to a horrifically embarrassing and painful death.

Just had a radio from Miller informing me that
Q u i e t
is "in the wilderness". Just got my
medical bay
too. Anything I need to do to
get her
?

As it often happens, i'm working on a fan art/tee design inspired by the game.
You might enjoy it, hopefully! :D

Silent Big Boss is currently the best improvement made for the series. This game feels fresh and original for many things and the lack of long ass cutscenes is one of them. I love both Naked Snake and Venom Snake, it's really easy to see why he became a more stoic person.
You know what? Im some ways, this is the most Nintendo-like game in the MGS saga.

Played about 4 hours and i already know that im gonna love this! Need to go away 2 days on work related shit so i cant play............... ARGH

Speaking of, I only did the chain once during testing and have since forgotten it. Which buttons make this work again?

... There's a tutorial in the menu screens, dude.

As it is: Be near 2+ guards->CQC button when prompted after slamming/CQC finishing the first one. Rinse and repeat if more than one other.

i give up on completing mission 3. Been trying to fully complete mission 3 for a long time now. I think my game is glitched. One of the tasks is to pick a certain type of plant...which I did, but it didnt count. Now its not spawning anymore. Another one is to gather materials from this one location..I got all the ones I can find and have been searching for a long time and cant find anymore

I'm new to the series. Should I play Ground Zeroes or can I start with the Phantom Pain?

you should really start with MGS1 ;)

story is pretty important in these games. realistically, you can jump into any metal gear game and still enjoy it without playing the past games, but playing the past games will enhance your experience.

so yeah, I'd take the hour or so to clear Ground Zeroes before starting Phantom Pain, personally.

Huh. The code that came with my day one edition isn't valid.

There should be two codes, with one for MGO.

The MGO one isn't valid yet, I believe.

I'd list the best conditions for starting this way.

1) Play all of the MGS games.
2) Play Snake Eater, Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes.
3) Start with The Phantom Pain.

I guess you could start with Ground Zeroes, but that itself requires more prior knowledge than The Phantom Pain.

Is there a way to be behind cover and maybe knock on something to have the guards walk over? Coming off of peacewalker and I find that would be helpful.

You can use your arm, equip it (press down on the d-pad) and then by keeping L1 you can select the knock sound, wich isn't really a knock knock but a mechanical sound.

Is there a way to open doors and not have them slam open? Even the lightest push makes considerable noise. Guards don't seem to notice but it drove me crazy in GZ and it's doing the same in TPP.

This gives me life. I was so worried it wouldn't live up to the hype.
