Halo 5 Opening Cinematic

I'm still not sure if I like the trailer. I've watched it couple times now adn it looks cool but something is off. Maybe the music.

Glad they are adding so many 'new' characters. Chief was always boring, and this is coming from someone who has 2-3 Halos in his Top 10.

Wat. The music was like the best part.

The main theme is shaping up to be incredible. Jinnouchi is doing work with the score.

RIP!

Could someone Mix it with shoop (everything is better with shoop)?

Loved the trailer by the way, it's just too epic, just looking for all the remixes!

I hope the rest of the first level is bouncing down a hill and the enemies still only taking two shots to kill so that way the rest of the level feels as epic as that intro. ... Otherwise idk, won't be as cool

Like I'm going to hop on MCC later and see if I can just hop around and kill things like that, pretty sure I'm going to die though

turn it down to easy.

man I have no idea how many times I have already seen this now since last night.

Music is absolutely mind blowing.

The CGI part was good, the in-engine not so much, I don't like how spartans moves on this one but I can't wait to play it though, I really enjoy the beta.

Yup, this trailer is up there with Starry Night for me. Though not as emotional, it is still very epic.
Music is fantastic too.

So hang on, for co-op, we can only play as Locke or Chief unless we're doing 4 player co-op?

Locke's teammates are way cooler than him.

Tha't correct, I'd rather play as some of the other characters as well, always spawning with a plasma pistol with Vale would be nice. That bump in re-play value though.

Music is incredible. #believe in Kazuma.

Unfortunately this didn't get me all that hyped. I just really miss Chief. So little of the marketing for H5G has included Master Chief and it's a little frustrating. I want to see the real hero.

Also, the fact that so much of this was just ninja flipping power ranger fighting is a little discouraging to see. It doesn't look like elite soldiers fighting a war. It looks like the Avengers.

Note: I am usually incredibly positive about halo (I LOVE Halo 4 and 343i's story direction) but I was hoping for something more story driven rather than over-the-top action driven.

Give me some Chief please, 343!

It's weird that they're pushing Locke so hard after the main thrust of Halo 4's marketing was 'the Master Chief is back y'all!!'.

If they really wanted a second protagonist, they should have gone with Arbiter again. The proliferation of Spartans is one of my least favourite things about the Halo storyline under 343... They were much cooler when there weren't many of them. The Spartans being this family unit that had their numbers dwindle over the years of constant fighting really made you care about them. Now it's all just generic 'best of the best' army stuff.

It is a really cool cutscene though, in fairness.

Pshhh, these spartans are clearly playing on easy. Heroic/Legendary, or gtfo.

There's clearly a specific story being told here, not just simply we need another character to play as.

I played Halo 2 for the first time with MCC, and I LOVED the dual story aspect where you switch between playing as Arbiter and Chief.

Also the cliffhanger didn't bother me because Halo 3 was a button press away

I really am quite intrigued to see where they go with the storyline. The 'is Master Chief a hero or a traitor?' thing they've been pushing in their pre-release stuff is so incredibly stupid and uninteresting that it makes me think there's some really big twist early on that they're keeping under their hat. It would explain why we've seen so little footage from the campaign too.

None of the stuff in the trailer was CGI. It was all in-engine assets with post processing effects cranked really high, beyond the resources the Xbox One could accomodate.

So CGI. CGI using in-engine assets and what-not, but CGI nonetheless.

Why does this matter?

pre-rendered, in other words.
Yea, but not CGI. CGI requires more than just post-processing effects, and it requires a different rendering technique if I recall correctly.
Look up what post-processing effects are. Some of them are included with PC games as graphical settings. Blur, motion blur, depth of field, vignetting, sharpening, PPAA... etc. These do not equal CGI.

Read above.

It is CG. We directed and animated much of it internally and provided in-game assets for characters but we worked with Axis Animation in Glasgow to complete it. They built environments, did layout, FX, lighting, rendering, post, compositing, and more. They've been a long term partner for us and always do great work.

Also keep in mind, this leads right into the first mission of the game so we wanted the look to match gameplay and make the transition as seamless as possible.

And to those who've asked, yes you can do most of what you see in that action sequence in game. We specifically designed the intro to highlight the gameplay mechanics as well as the individual members of the team.

To everyone saying it looks like The Avengers, behold:

I edited it a bit to get it to sync up. That track is nowhere near as good as the original though.'

edit: OOPS hang on i think i uploaded the clip that was linked above instead of the one i just rendered SMH

I can't hear the Avengers music in this at all

edit: oh
