Hey, guys. Before I buy this game I would like to know something about it so a few questions are in order.

1) Is it like in GZ that an enemies can spot you through the tinniest openings and immediately start an alert phase?

2) Is the open world cluttered with collectibles and side quests like in Assassin's Creed games?

3) Do enemies take less hits to take down than in GZ or are headshots still mandatory?

4) Are there any references to Portable Ops? Is Portable Ops validated in any way?

5) Is the theme of Portable Ops (Calling To the Night) in Metal Gear Solid V?

6) Is it possible to miss meeting Quiet or do you always get her on your team?

7) Is NULL in the game?

8) Are there boss battles? And if so are they more like in the original Metal Gear Solid series or more like in Peace Walker?

1) They seem able to spot you through small windows and openings.

2) No

3) Still headshots, or 2/3 body shots, like GZ

4 Thru 8, don't know. sorry.

You have to actually pess(click) the left side of the touch pad, not just tap it.
Trust me, I tried. I sunk the corners until I heard a clicking sound. Thanks for the help, but I really believe this isn't a hardware issue...

I guess I'll try reinstalling the game when I get home today.

accidentally did this and I felt terrible..

Just finished The Witcher 3 and now this game comes out. Man, what a year.

I've finished the prologue and the first two missions, this looks like a lot of fun. I think the focus on free exploration is a welcome addition to the franchise. Stealth really works with the open world, there are just so many ways to complete the objectives, for example (first secondary missions spoilers)

I completed the mission where you have to eliminate that Spetsnaz commander by fultoning all the soldiers in my way and then I switched off the power to the complex... lo and behold, the commander himself comes out of hiding to check the power! Man, I was laughing my ass off. I CQC'd him into oblivion of course, seems to be a powerful unit for MB.

After the tank mission, I was screaming "please no more missions like that!" Next mission is basically the same mission, oh god.

How long does it take to install the game?

I've been staring at this "Installing game data...Do not turn off system. 507 seconds" screen for awhile now...

I'm on mission 9, and I've always completed every side op that's available.

Should I start ignoring side ops somewhat? They can be repetitive, but I have an OCD need to vacuum up as many people and things as I can, so I keep taking on every mission and even vacuuming up incidental outposts I come across.

I even gobble up every sheep I see, and I'm not sure why. What do they even do?

yea well...
i agree that once you figure it out it's an easy fight. But i guess it is meant to be since she is supposed to be a buddy and you get them pretty early so it should not be too tough
True, you've got a point there. Who knows, maybe there'll be an even crazier
sniper fight
towards the end?

I love that this game is robust enough to let you lay impromptu traps. I wanted a truck driver for my crew so I mput someone to sleep and put him in the middle of the road and it worked exactly like you'd want it to.

- No, after reflex phrase, you have like... less 1 second to neutralize him. Even he said "Contact", you can knock him out and HQ doesn't know about your presence.

2) Is the open world cluttered with collectibles and side quests like in Assassin's Creed games?
- Depend on each person, i think collectibles like tapes, blueprint, materials have important role for your mother base, side quests are boring imo, but they give you great rewards like high rank soldiers, blueprints...

3) Do enemies take less hits to take down than in GZ or are headshots still mandatory?
- I think it's same like GZ but you can develop weapons with high damage to take down them faster

4) Are there any references to Portable Ops? Is Portable Ops validated in any way?
- If you watch Launch Trailer, Kojima himself doesn't consider it canon so i think not.

5) Is the theme of Portable Ops (Calling To the Night) in Metal Gear Solid V?
- Maybe, i haven't finish it yet so i don't know.

6) Is it possible to miss meeting Quiet or do you always get her on your team?
- I don't know about this case. She is in a main episode so i think not?

7) Is NULL in the game?
- I don't know what you mean.

8) Are there boss battles? And if so are they more like in the original Metal Gear Solid series or more like in Peace Walker?
- There are boss battles, original Metal Gear Solid :)
.

I threw a grenade on the road in front of a truck, and it exploded below the truck, blowing out all the tires and knocking both occupants unconscious.

Having some problems with Mission 6.

I've managed too
fulton the prison on a couple of my many attempts, but to sedate the 3 soldiers with him I normally end up setting the other guards on alert.Any tips for this area? Could smoke be quiet handy? I am worried it will set everyone on high alert.I imagine from there I just have to work my way into the cave for the weapon?

Cheers.

i hope there is! I loved in MGS1 that you had to (i know its not a big spoiler and everybody kinda played mgs1 but...)
fight bosses two times

Am I too early to do the side op with the lost
Mother Base solider?
This is after the 5th Main Mission with
Skull Face.

I tried using tranqs, but it didn't work at all. Should I just do this one later with better gear or something?

When I did this I just tranq'd all 3 soldiers when they got to the big room with two other soldiers in it. If you have some I imagine it makes it even easier.

I asked for gunsupport from my chopper, killed everybody there, then used the fulton on that prisoner before moving into the cave and grabbing the weapon.

i managed to pick them one by one. You can use the empty magazines to trigger a light alert or just tranq one from behind so the other two stop and then proceed to tranq them all. I did it from a side and it worked the same. I fultoned every soldier from that damn cave.

To open the iDroid menu, press the Options button. For the Pause menu, click the left side of the touchpad (doesnt need to be the corner).

Not saying its a hardware problem, more like misleading prompts. For every new gameplay mechanic you are introduced to, a yellow prompt appears to press the bottom left corner of the touchpad, doing so will open the pause menu and in the bottom there are tips for the mechanic, in your case - the iDroid.

Damn sandstorm kicking up right as the extraction copter comes in for a landing..... but it was cool, I ended up taking own several scouts in close proximity because Big Boss is top dog.

And does anyone have a small image of Doge with an eyepatch? I want a Diamond Doge avatar.

i just crawled from behind and headshot tranq'ed him. I had to do it from a bit far (used the 1st upgraded tranq gun)
Might take a couple of tries.

1) Is it like in GZ that an enemies can spot you through the tinniest openings and immediately start an alert phase?

it seems a bit easier to infiltrate in this. Enemies have had a small sight nerf compared to GZ. Yea if you get spotted and fail a reflex, the whole base goes into lock down.

2) Is the open world cluttered with collectibles and side quests like in Assassin's Creed games?

the side ops are now built into the open world so they are all available on the open world map if that counts.

3) Do enemies take less hits to take down than in GZ or are headshots still mandatory?

very similar here. They absorb a lot of bullets to anywhere but the head.

6) Is it possible to miss meeting Quiet or do you always get her on your team?

i think you may miss the spot where you meet her but she will always be at that spot for you to find.

8) Are there boss battles? And if so are they more like in the original Metal Gear Solid series or more like in Peace Walker?

yep I've had 2 and both were more like Metal Gear Solid series but not as good in my opinion.

I left out the questions I dont know the answers to.

Tapes with a dot next to them have NOT been listened to yet.

No you have to use the iDroid. One of the iDroid upgrades may let you listen to them during gameplay.

A small blue dot is always next to tapes you haven't listened to.

Thanks.

It's a huge bummer because it's annoying when you're listening to a tape and another communication starts to play over the tape as the tape continues to play. Oh well. Dumb oversight, imo.

Also, what's the difference between yellow highlighted tapes and white?

Yeah but where

Mission 20 is sooo good so far

Active decoy is the coolest shit. Kept uou waiting huh

ohhh shiit I really can't remember at the moment, in some little hut in the middle of nowhere. I wanna say on the east somewhere?
