One last question for when I get home from work... I got the medbay scene with
Paz......
and I'm wondering if there's anything else to find at Mother Base. Like, where are Quiet and Hal?

Loading screen just dropped a HOT protip on me. If you have two guys with the Troublemaker skill, put them in the same unit. They'll be occupied with each other and won't get anyone sick.

I seriously do not for the life of me know why KojiPro thought it'd be a good idea to tie the Online connection to loading screens and the IDroid. Seriously, why does a loading screen for a single player story mission need to wait for an online connection? You can't even load up ANYTHING on the IDroid without it needing to load the online connection. Wtf.

Ah shit, we are back to a new black screen. Looks like it's having trouble with whatever cutscene is suppose to happen. If I hit restart the mission, I start at med bay, and if I try to get on the chopper it takes me to his endless loading screen.

It was probably doing that before but now at least there's an indicator.

Edit: maybe it's a server issue with the loading?

Med bay spoilers.
Quiet is in the main med bay platform by the heliport. There is a cage in the middle. Hal is 4 years old in this. You mean Huey? When you are able to see him in the R&D platform, you will know it (Ocelot will call you). Check on Paz every time you rescue a former Mother Base member (side ops). You get a memento from them each time & you can show Paz.

It could be. Disconnect your console from online. Or try uploading your save to PSN (if you're on PS4) then redownload it.

This thread is killing me. I want absolutely no spoilers of even the smallest dumbest things, and yet I need more information about fucking everything! I'm just sitting at work thinking about MGS V, wanting to be ashamed of my words and deeds.

Thank you! I meant Huey, whoops. Is there anything else on MB to worry about other than these 3? I just don't want to miss anything there...

No. That is not the only time he
is interrogated.

I just double checked the E3 2013 trailer;
the cut scene I got is the exact same (motion capture an camera wise), just with different lighting and no bag. The one where Ocelot throws a bucket of water at Huey, and the camera pans to Miller.

Oh man, construction on the main platform is finally improving, was worried seeimg how I built a bunch other in the meantime.

Also DD is gone.

Double check your spoiler tags before you hit that post button. Words and deeds folks, think about what you're potentially spoiling for someone. That includes proper context indicating the subject of your tagged post. Good lord. Never seen so many spoiler fuck ups in a thread before.

finally S ranked mission 9. That was fucking annoying. If anything went wrong, you essentially had to start the whole mission over again. I dont think I ever saw a checkpoint other than the beginning of the mission actually

So are we supposed to be actually managing the soldiers that we recruit to mother base, or is just letting them be auto-assigned pretty much the whole of it?

I see posts from people talking about diplomats and troublemakers, but so far I don't see how managing soldiers amounts to anything more than moving them between functions on Mother Base.

Can you actually select individual recruits and do anything else with them eventually?

Where is Ocelot and SPOILER on MB? Do they just appear in cut scenes?

Truely

EDIT: Truely...I fucked up

It just took me an entire hour to do Mission 6. Pretty sure I was being too careful. Wasn't detected at all though, so that felt good.

I once saw a mice I got in one of the mammals sections, it's very easy to not see. Those little animals are hard to see without the vegation, now imagine with all the grass there is there.

That addiction is slowly winning me over. You get so many rare animals.

It's awesome. I love the bonuses that catching some of the more uncommon or rare creatures give.

Yeah, I disconnected and all that and still got the endless downloading error. I'm on PC by the way. Just gonna see if I can at least reinstall it and hope that works out.

Just rescued a certain nerd and that may have been the best mission I've ever played in a MG game. That was right after meeting Quiet, another cool part. The game is really coming together.

Peace Walker is my least favourite followed by MSG4 for a variety of reasons across both. MGS4 edges it out by playing better (Act 1 and most of Act 2). Peace Walker just felt weirdly limited, restrictive, and micromanaging for my taste. That and I thought the plot was balls.

My high is torn between MGS and MGS3. MGS3 to me is up there with Resident Evil 4 in how exceptionally brilliant the design, length, content, pacing, and game diversity is. But in the same breath I prefer the overall tone of MGS. MGS2 follows close behind though, and it's a game I've grown to appreciate more as time has passed.

MGSV is a mixed bag for me. When it's good, it's really fucking incredible. Possibly the best stealth in the series. It feels good to play, the game systems are heavily agency driven with a huge breadth of wiggle room for tactics and equipment use. It properly envisions ideas KojiPro played with in MGS3 and MGS4, that being larger, open encounters where you seamlessly flow from the outskirts to the inside of a base. The general openness of this approach, scouting the surrounding area, the leading approach, infiltrating in, and eventually getting out is exhilarating and brilliant. It's a very, very good stealth game.

But I really hate the open world itself (to be fair, I'm still in Afghanistan), which doesn't really play like a proper open world in design coherence with missions and tasks, while also being incredibly dull and boring by its own merits. I'm also not completely sold on Mother Base. Automating tasks is good (in that, you dont need to micromanage staff; click a button and they'll go wherever), but the actual resource collection and multitude of goods to develop seems needlessly obtuse for the kind of game it is. There's like...mother base funds, four or five resources, plant resources, and so on. I personally don't feel acquiring resources and expanding Mother Base is very rewarding. The overall game feedback isn't very satisfying when you're outside of missions. This is the junk handover from Peace Walker that I don't like.

So yeah, I dunno. When it's good it's amazing. When it's bad it's pretty fucking dull. I can see what they were trying to do, and it does come together more often than not, but I also think they made some amateurish mistakes in the overall design of the open world and integration of missions, development, and flow.

Thanks for the reply dude. I think I'm going to dive in. I figure this is a light month for me and i'll be playing it eventually. It'll be fun to talk about it as I play it here. Perhaps the better gameplay will make up for it's 'peacewalker-like' trappings.

This game does the whole 'sneak into an army base like Rambo' better than any other game out there. The whole game feels like Rambo, and thats pretty awesome. Kojima must have been really offended by all the 'lol watching a movie' insults from past games.

[Mission 31 Spoilers Below!!!]

So just
beat Sahelanthropus! My hands are still sweating. Just finished watching the post credits tease for episode 2. Out of curiosity, how sizeable is the next episode compared to everything that's came before?

Also,
can anyone give a brief non-spoiler description of what's required to get the true ending? I'd appreciate it.

So mission 16...someone give me some tips. Help me out.

I just sat with Quiet at an intersection after the airport, put something to block the road which caused the convoy to stop and just shot the truck driver. Then I used missiles for the battle after that. Also the enemies don't notice you when they pop out of the truck, so you can get Quiet to just shoot them over and over with no repercussions.

Infiltration in general is just realised very well. Scout everything out, stealth or eliminate your way inside, and then have everything go wrong from that one horrible guard over there behind the barrel goddamit, whereby the rambo fantasies begin. Then it becomes a wild action game filled with misdirection and frantic dodges.

So good.

So I just opened my collectors edition and this rag was in there.

WTF is this rag supposed to be?? I don't remember reading about it in the included items. Did everyone else get this?

I hear it isn't nearly as sizeable. I'm currently working my way towards
the true ending. Just complete all the missions highlighted in yellow. If none, then keep doing side ops & you'll get calls from Miller & Ocelot.
