Explored the med bay and found
Paz. That whole scene was just a giant what. Did he really retcon GZ's ending?
What the fuck is happening? I'm being played like a damn fiddle.

you're missing the point.

the point is, why aren't there goats and bears wandering around mother base

also why can't i ride my goddamn horse here? THIS PLACE IS HUGE
You say that now but then you'll be crying when your interpretators are in the sick bay after being mauled by wild goats :(

at what level will the fulton success rate increase?

It's not really a level. It's a mix of:

Have you taken a shower recently? Yes->100% If not->What is your Support Team's "Level" and Base Level.

Higher Base building level = higher chance despite a semi-lower than the base's level's team level.

A lot happened tonight. DD grew up, I got Quiet and I now have my own petting zoo. I also blew up a shit ton of tanks and a helicopter. All in all, a good night's work.

So if you tranq a guard and they end up face down in shallow water, they drown. Makes sense, but I never thought it would happen until it did...

I love playing this game. I'm 37 hours in and can't stop, but I really think it has the weakest story of any major MGS so far. The informative cassettes are for the most part great and all, but the main narrative is so far
pretty goddamn uneventful considering this is the bridge from Big Boss' story to Solid Snake's.

So far, the story that I've generally been following so far is this (I'm up to mission 30, and this doesn't include cassette tape information, so spoilers for all missions up to the start of 30):

Snake is rescued by Ocelot
Snake builds Diamond Dogs
Finds out about Salanthropus and other Metal Gear stuff in Afghanistan
Skullface is a weird dude and wants to have all the power by controlling the nuke game
Quiet is a plant.
Skullface also weaponizes a parasite that infects people based on their language and reanimates them into super soldiers(?)
Snake finds all this out after he rescues an old man he found out about who knows about this stuff, and eventually they track down Skullface in Afghanistan and plan to take him down.

I know I left out quite a few tiny details here and there, but that's generally what I feel as being the only necessary information needed to understand why Snake is in Afghanistan doing his thang.

Just found this picture, had to share.

Using the cardboard box in the rain results in the box
deteriorating till it's destroyed, a pretty neat touch.

I believe this happens in MGS2 as well
when you're on the tanker's deck and pick up the cardboard box near the Olga boss fight. If you equip it and walk around in the rain, the cardboard will wrinkle and I think if you stay out in the rain long enough, it eventually falls apart.

Episode 28, maaaaaaaan.

I haven't played PT but Kojima can create some rather scary situations.

Advice, use Quiet she was extremely helpful here.

Just finished mission 26.
Really annoyed I had to quarantine almost 80 of some of my best guys. Took me almost 20 minutes. Pretty cool idea though. The story is finally starting to pick up. I was excited when Eli finally showed up. I didn't even realize it was him I was fighting until just before loading him on the helicopter (I had NVG on for his whole fight). He acts exactly as I imagined he would, thinking of himself as an adult and having serious anger issues.

Quick question about mission 20

Is it really as simple as bringing the water gun to beating the guy or is he unbeatable?

Mission 5-6: gameplay is starting clicking me [was finding it too simple and exploitable].
Not convinced about OW elements, yet.
Let's see how it goes.

So about 10 hours in...

Does Big Boss ever become more of a character in this game. Does he get more motivated? After he got his shit blown up and was put in a coma for so long you would think they would at least make it seem like he was a bit pissed off about it.

It just seems like Miller is the only one who feels personally invested in anything and Big Boss just stands there looking like a big dummy, nodding his head and occasionally saying "ok"

That's just a way to do it, there's
water
around, make smart use of it.

You talking about the
two water towers?
That stunned him for me, I just wasn't sure if I could actually "defeat" him then or not

with extraction or kill missions how can I tell who my target is?...there's always a lot of enemy soldiers around and I can't tell who my target is

So is the song "Diamond Dogs" even in the game? Seems like a strange omission. The only Bowie song I've heard in the game isn't even by Bowie either.
I also assumed "Snake Eater" and "Here's To You" would have made the trip over from MGS3 and GZ.

Or maybe I just haven't found them. Is there a music tape guide anywhere? That'd be great.

The fact that you build the bridges between platforms on Mother Base approximately 10 miles long and it takes like 4 goddamned minutes to get a helicopter and go from one to the other is nothing short of completely bonkers.

seems like a waste of money, honestly. Can't imagine the time and labor that goes into making like...pointless mile long bridges in the middle of nowhere

You can fast travel via box delivery service. Just get on the orange platform near the helipad and use the cardboard box.

I figure the reason they did that this time was because if someone took out the supports like they did before, the whole base wouldn't come down at once.

Kaz is a smart man. Keep things spaced out.
