in the Mission Lists there are optional Mission Tasks but they are all greyed out except for the main mission...I can only see the optional objectives after I complete the mission...is there any way of seeing the optional tasks while in the mission for the first time or do they want you to explore the entire area and discover them yourself?

Oh my god I love this game... I'm having so much fun.

It just rewards you all the time for trying silly shit that should never work. Mission 11 spoilers:
Dropping supply boxes on Quiet actually works and knocks her out. Genius!

From a pure gameplay standpoint, it's a masterpiece.

Boss, the NFA sent their weapons to the SERN under the guise of a Cipher cover. Turns out they were really just a cover for the CFA PF. The SCGH sent word of this to the UL which set their alarms buzzing with activity. We traced their accountants back to a fake office run by the LYF Movement, established during the Buar War in 1979. You need to make contact with the IDG agent and track his movements. We have the opportunity to score some nice equipment from this mission according to the HJDF.

Shit! Why didn't I think of that? Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

That's how I did it, too. So much fun.

Love how if you search for the 80's soundtrack featured in MGSV on youtube you will find MGS comments everywhere.

It's Metal Gear madness in the world, guys, hold me.

Episode 29, holy shit.

One of the most memorable, yet frustrating parts of the game.

Spoilers

Understanding how to beat the skulls is very frustrating, once you get it down, its a very fu boss battle.

CQCing the skulls with Quiet helping out with sniping is one lf the best parts of the game for me.

Mission
20
:
I drove the jeep into him and ran him off the cliff. Can't believe that worked.
Hahahaha

seems like a waste of money, honestly. Can't imagine the time and labor that goes into making like...pointless mile long bridges in the middle of nowhere

It makes sense in a way. Theoretically, if something were to go terribly wrong at one of the facilities (R&D for example), then the main base would still be undamaged in the case of an explosion.

(Early Africa spoilers)

Finally found
the gunsmith
. Feels so satisfying to
be able to put a silencer on my tranq sniper rifle. I almost never used it before even though I wanted to. Now I can see myself using it a whole lot.

So is there detailed go to source for all the important information on the metal gear series that doesn't involve a ridiculous time investment? Ive played 1-3 and will probably run through ground zeros this weakened before starting five but I need a story refresher since Its been such a long time since playing the games.

im watching the metal gear Scanlon peace walker video to fill in that game. ill probably watch the Scanlon metal gear 4 play through at some point but unless its important for mgsV ill put it on hold.

Just found this picture, had to share.

What a fucking sandbox.

What a masterpiece. I'm finding new ways to play the game all the time from gaf.

Spent an hour infiltrating the base in mission 12 only to realise I had no 'key card' or whatever and got caught. Died, no checkpoint. Gah. This game can be seriously oldschool sometimes. Have spent two hours now making no progress at all. I'm not complaining as it keeps the stakes high, but Gah.

I've also decided that making this game open-world was a serious mistake. My thoughts on that are too long to put into a 'between deaths cool-down GAF post', but I strongly feel that way. Also surprised just how much the game is reminding me of Far Cry 3&4 now that minerals and plants are showing up on my map and NPCs are saying things like 'go take a base then gather some medicinal herbs' - could be pulled directly from Far Cry.

Also, just got Quiet. Initial impressions? While
her boss battle
was really weak, she's the best thing about the story/characters so far. Classic Metal Gear character. Ludicrous in so many wonderful ways already. Also the reason the PS4 screenshot feature was invented. I still have no DD though. Where is that little pup?

Can't lie, I'm sick of this shit at this point. Have listened to every tape. Maybe 4 were interesting so far.

Same here I am having too much fun to forward the plot instead I am just free roaming and building motherbase slowly. Game is addicting.

This. I don't want it to end. So I am just doing side ops. My base is massive. Good thing that there seems to be a new SOp every time you complete one.

I never cared that much for previous metal Gear outside of peacewalker due to base building.

I'm a believer now.

The Questioning Huey series of tapes is good. You actually feel a sense of conflict between characters. Real drama. Everything else is just kind of eh.

Most people get dd by mission 4. You should have him by now.

Protip: You can fulton children without the Child fulton by placing them in a car then fultoning that if you have the cheaper cargo upgrade. Pretty useful heh.

DD is still by far buddy king

Quiet seems okay. her spotting isnt as good, and her.. singing? or whatever the heck she's doing is annoying as hell

Oh my god LOL I dont know if this has been posted by anyone yet, i guess you could say its a potential spoiler maybe but

Today is my birthday, so naturally when the game started and asked for DOB for Snake i put my own. So i just finished a mission when Ocelot comes over the radio and tell me i need to get back to mother base QUICK!! so i head back, there is no one around to greet me like usual. I hear a loud POP, snake pulls out his gun and looks around. Still sees nothing. Then you hear fireworks and a few of the main cast come out with a huge cake that says Happy Birthday and they start singing. That pretty awesome. Kojima was the first one to wish me a happy birthday lol

END GAME QUESTION

Anybody knows how to get
The true ending? I just got the quiet ending, but do I have to finish all the main ops or is there something more?

Is there any way to save during a mission? I love the depth of the game but damn I often have to stop mid mission to do real life things (such as go to sleep for work at 0500) and it fucking sucks that if I quit I lose all progress in my mission.

Is there any chance of modding this game to enable quicksaves?

Holy crap, that is awesome indeed!
Anything involving the
skulls
is just the fucking worst. What terrible enemies.
Tell me about it.
I gave up trying to finish mission 16 last night and went to bed pissed off.

When I tired it and it worked I almost pissed my self laughing

Never even thought of that. I just used the Tranq pistol and it took forever.

Goddammit spoiled ANOTHER fucking mission by glancing up from the floor just in time to see a name. FUCK these opening credits, seriously. I can respect design decisions but this is literally the stupidest thing I've seen in a game for years.

I look at the center of the screen. I can turn off my peripheral vision at will so I don't read the opening cast on each main op.

I hope a mod comes out that removes this. So stupid.

Everyone but Miller and Ocelot should be called Quiet.

Mission 23 spoilers.

Is Eli ever going to talk? I'm guessing not...

I started doing this and the ONE time I forget it's a mission where Skull Face shows up.

So dumb.

Its pretty hilarious. I dont know what they where trying to accomplish with that.

Should have put the voice actors names there or something instead. At least it would have been a little less spoiler-y and would have kept the weird TV show cold open credits feel.
