I have been stuck in Mission 10 for two hours... I am never going to see the end of Metal Gear cause I suck at video games.

So doing FOB missions as an attacker is dreadful and the only part of the game that is not amazing. Don't feel like you're missing out if you can't connect.

I haven't attacked yet, since I'm just doing the training stuff. But it's kinda funny how they said "yeah, it's optional" but you're FORCED to do the tutorial/build an F.O.B. platform then do training on it. It's like the Souls series where if you're online you'll probably be invaded instead of being able to be on Konami's servers for event stuff and say "no, I don't want to be bothered, matchmake OVER me"/options.

*sigh* Someday someone will get it right.

Is there any guide about how to effectively use Quiet as a buddy? I tried searching the net but they all point to your first meeting with her. I know you issue commands through iDroid, but she is very inconsistent and does whatever she wants.

I'm pretty sure it's possible because Miller says so. I need to level up both the R&D and Support unit as well so it's a good while before I can get that Fulton upgrade I'm afraid. What are you saying though? That the skulls die more easily if you Fulton the truck?

No, you fulton the vehicle then run from the skulls out of the mission area. I was able to complete that mission for S Rank in like 3 minutes. First I mark the area next to the airport and then 2 option areas to get out of the mission area.Sneak into airport NQ side, the vehicle will be there with no driver, head close to it, skulls appear, extract vehicle (which alerts skulls), start running while D.Horse calling, hop on and run out of mission area based on markers (as you won't have time to go to your idroid as you're running away from the skulls.

I've got her fully mastered and could probably give some help. Anything in specific that stands out?

Well, thank Koji for that! I was really longing for the darkness and rain of Ground Zeroes!
Rain is also an Africa thing

Don't die in Mission 12. The checkpoint is very unfriendly and you will need to travel a long way. And don't try to do it during the day.

very early story mission/story spoilers

HOLY FUCK the mission where you have to save Huey Christ almighty if that doesnt cry metal gear my god did anyone do that mission during the day it would almost seem impossible, kept using my phantom cigar to make it night time, also running away with Huey from the metal gear dear god almighty..

I had to do most of the mission during the day. Started the side ops thing on night and by the time I got to the big base with the helicopter it was bright as fuck day.

I think my way of doing the ending wasn't as epic as it could have been. Heart was still pounding though. When the metal gear showed up I went up and to the left into the cliffs with Huey and just sat until it couldn't find me. Then I kept swapping spots for the helicopter to try and lure it. Eventually it went to the further spot and I swapped the copter over and hoofed it to the helicopter. But yeah I mostly just sat behind the rocks where it apparently couldn't see no matter what.

Is there a shortcut for pausing a cassette? I'm sometimes out in the field listening to cassettes, and then Kaz starts talking. I end up having to quickly shuffle through the menus to pause the cassette. I wish there was a faster way to pause and play. I'm using a DS4 btw.

Nope it's pretty bullshit. You have to rewind as well since it'll skip over lines with subtitles on.

Ok, thanks! I need that upgrade then, but I have quite a few side ops to do anyway.

How do you get her to set up in an area of operations? I want to use her for support with the tranq rifle but for the life of me, I have no clue how to tell her to move. I'm like 10 miles away from the starting area and she's setting up in the drop area.

Open the idroid and go to the buddy support thing, you can have her scout or attack and pick locations for her to move to.

Question - When completing side ops, is there any reason not just to do Pause Menu > Return ACC. As once you get the side op clear notice it makes a check point. Do you lose anything this way?

Because if this is the case, this will make things so much faster (and cheaper) with not having to call a Helicopter and then run to it.

Can even cheat it on things like blueprint ops by running to the location, getting it (thus getting the side op clear) then going Pause Menu > Return ACC no matter status of alert.

Quick question, I was really excited for the game and already on episode 2 and forgot all about using ground zero's save. Can I still do it, is it worth it ? What are the things you get.

I just did it and wasn't that hard. Anything specific?

You can make that easier by not letting the jeep get to it's destination. Do something like have your dog or horse wait in the middle of the road. Hide behind some rocks. When the jeep stops, tranq the 2 guards, blow up the vehicle behind it, then drive the jeep with the prisoner out of the mission area / to the helicopter.

Yes, I can confirm you won't lose anything when the game is saved. I use it all times

Christ that must have been hard during the day my god

You may lose some fultons, AFAIK. I've had it not count a few "in the air/recovery" fultons, but for the most part: No, there's nothing stopping you from doing this.

Is that in one of the non-map menus? You'd think I could make a marker and then tell her "go here, set up shop. Get ready for me to tell you to fire on these guys." But nope.

To anyone having trouble with stealth - research and use Decoys ASAP. Extremely useful.

Or just use Smoke Grenades. It'll stun and blind. You might get "Reflex"/imperfect Stealth but it works.

Wow, do you know how much time I've wasted so far? I'm 50% side ops done so far. I've been running to LZ zones for too long. Oh man, the GMP cost too since I've kept my helicopter upgraded :|

Yay, I can finally log into the server! Transferring my GZ save...

I like surrounding decoys with C4.
BTW, the guards figured that trick out pretty quick and started staying a good distance away from the decoy. So I set the C4 out farther. Then they got too afraid to even approach the area. LOL

How did you get a white Diamond Dog?

I don't remember for sure, I think I just did a bunch of missions with him and that unlocked a customization option for him which lets you change his fur color(including one option that kinda makes him look like a fox). I'm pretty sure that's the case, but not 100% on it.

Is there a way to trigger
medical bay
scene later in the game? I'm in chapter 2, saved 5 of those drunk soldiers and nothing happened yet :/

Once your bond is maxed, you can customize the colour of D.Dog and D.Horse.

No, it's just hard. There's missions ahead of it which is definitely Kojimaness. Most people are just asking how to beat it.

The hell? You're all crazy

S ranked mission 16 with no effort :V

Not even screwing with you guys, that was easy.

Yeah, it's a tab to the right of the map. Definitely clunky.

Yes, it can be done very easy as shown in my spoilers (I got S Rank too), but if you approach it other ways, it's extremely hard. Especially with under-leveled weapons.

You should edit your post as you're spoiling it btw, your image has a line on it that says a bit too much.

Chapter 26

This is a stupid amount of micro-managing. I have almost 600 guys and I have to manually quarantine them all...

Yeah my method (er, improv method) was
stun everyone as I walked in via the side door, unlock the gate, activate the cutscene. Shoot a skull with a tranq to activate them, 5 RPG shots on them in a row for a quad tranq, cap the vehicle, bail.

If you follow that mission normally, you have to deal with the following:

A driver, 4 skulls, a tank, and a personal carrier as you are catching them on the road.

The funny thing about the limited dialogue is I'm thrilled when Big Boss finally talks in a cutscene. Was so relieved how the bringing Quiet to Mother base scene went in the end.
