So me and my waifu
(Quiet)
just kidnapped all the guards from 3 outposts, a town, an old palace and a supply depot while listening to all the 80's tunes I've found. It was magical.

Really though, it's been a long time since I've had this much fun with a game. 29 hours on record so far and I don't feel like stopping any time soon.

I think the "disrupt supplies to prevent enemies from adapting to your play" bit is completely broken and unfun. Because the way it should work is if say you make 50 headshots, then enemies start wearing helmets but if you disrupt the supplies then the counter resets and that disrupt mission doesn't shows up until you get to 50 again. Instead the way it works now is you hit 50 headshots and enemies start wearing helmets, so you disrupt supplies which takes 40 minutes to complete. Once done you have another 40 minutes to an hour where you don't see enemies with helmets but after that everyone will start wearing it again....even if you never actually hit 50 headshots.

The reason why it makes things unfun is because it isn't just helmets but riot suits, shields on back, body armour....4 different things. 4 different things that your tranq weapons are completely ineffective against.

You have to keep in mind that you can't really send 4 dispatch at a time unless you have an FOB. And I want to send dispatch to other places like resources or even disrupting sniper rifles and cameras etc. Basically there are a lot of stuff that needs to be taken care of apart from these 4 but I simply cannot do it because the game won't let me do it unless I pay. And considering how the system works and how frequent the disruption gets nullified, most of the time I just find myself sending dispatch for these 4 things rather than resources or any other disruption.
.

The entirety of this

I just did a deploy mission for helmets failed a side mission and helmets are back on the list

I've grown on the story since Africa, but it's still so sparse in comparison to normal mgs games.

I do like the feeling that at any moment a routine op could turn into something more story related though

Okay, F this online server crap. These "login rewards" are just pissing me off. First, the servers were down for maintenance so we didn't have access to the coins or resources. Then today, login and go to accept login reward and it "fails to fetch" and disappears.

Not to mention that simply being connected to the servers absolutely destroys menu speeds.

I do have to say that I'm incredibly thankful that there's an offline mode. We all know other games have done it so I have to give credit for that.

I'm actually really digging the story so far and I think Kiefer does a great job as BB.

I really like it too. Considering that I had no prior knowledge of the MGS universe I think that the story is quite compelling. (At the same time that might be the reason why I think it isn't that bad as everyone tries to make it out to be, lol)

DD is so good lol. Just marks everyone including prisoners who are inside buildings while I'm still approaching a base. And guards can't see him.

This all sounds absolutely terrible. I've already got the helmet problem and knowing there is no real 'reset' solution bothers the piss out of me. I suppose you can adapt by using different tranq methods and not relying on the pistol later on, but this breakdown sounds like a very poor way of handling things.

Oh fuck this is SUPER DUPER important information that I'm glad I spoiled for myself. I'd be so pissed if I didn't know this before the end of the game. I highly advise everyone to read this up because otherwise you will lose a buddy permanently.

Well this would've been nice to know an hour ago :|

I don't this this is the worst story in the series. I think this is the least story in the series and I don't even know if that's true or if it just feels that way because it's spread over a very long game.

(I think either 4 or PW had the worst story btw)

Uhh having a save issue over here on Xbone. I played for like 4 hours last night offline and just booted it up and it didn't save any of my progress. Is it a server issue or something on my end? I leave to the main menu before I quit every time.

is it strange that I still treat the Tapes like Codecs and I stay in the Idroid menu until the tapes are done playing so I can get all the info. I'm barely on Mission 2, but there were so many times in mission 1 where I was playing the tapes and Ocelot would just talk over the tape while the tape was still playing, and it was a bitch when I'm out of menu to get back in, switch over to tapes, then to control panel just to rewind a few seconds. Now I just sit in menu til they are done lol

I have a suppressed sniper with tranq and long zoom that can pop the helmets atleast (doesn't work for others), I don't even touch the pistol anymore.
The only thing that works across the board is sleep gas...but they start using gas masks. Here is the worst bit, I used a sleep gas attack once...just ONCE for the very first time and yet I started seeing enemies with gas masks everywhere.

The counter they have for non lethal is quite severe compared to lethal counters because even with full body armour you can take someone down quite easily because of the myriad of options available, when it comes to non lethal you have all but three options tranq, gas or chokehold.

I'm pleased with how it all looks now.

Holy fuck, I know this is a just a pet peeve of mine, but is there any way to turn off the credits before each mission?

I spoiled myself on the main scenario ages ago, but I'm still trying to run in blind for the missions themselves. And it annoys the fuck out of me when I'm doing a mission and then all of a sudden I see "FEATURING SKULL FACE AND METAL GEAR ST-84."

Are you fucking serious Kojima?

Holy shit,
Sahelanthropus has a fucking flaming sword!?

Sahelanthropus
confirmed for coolest metal gear in the series

I was like
GODDAMN THIS BROTHER IS BALROG FROM LAWWWD OF THE REEENGS! *dies*
too good.

If you do, you lose her as a buddy. You either have to keep her under 100% or equip the Butterfly Emblem to avoid her leaving mission. You really want to do that as your very last thing for gameplay reasons. So yeah equip that Emblem and just wait to do that story mission. Or YouTube it. I regret doing it.

What in fuck's name? I'm not that far in (Mission 16), but i almost fucked that up.

Not strange. Sometimes I'll put on the tapes in the ACC while I eat a snack to take a short break.

Although, side ops are the best places to look for tapes. You're hardly ever interupted by Kaz and Ocelot when you're doing side ops. That's where I listen to most of them.

Christ, the people that have finished this game since the 1st must have done almost nothing else. Can't even fathom doing it this quickly.

90 hours and mission 22... 35 side ops...I can't pass up a single outpost with all the toys at my disposal... So f'in satisying, Why would anyone rush this masterpiece... Just to say hey look I finished it...

Nope I do it too, because everyone just talks over the tapes, including the enemies AND you can't hear shit from the environment when you listen to a tape. It's impossible to listen to tapes while playing unless you are just walking somewhere.

This is why people who say codecs were bad and tapes allow you to play at the same time are wrong. Atleast codec was real time and current, hell I didn't even want a codec, just have Snake talk to others on radio. Their command centre must be frustrated as fuck when Snake and Quiet are away on mission together as they'd sit there for hours seemingly talking to themselves ! :P

It really feels like this is the RE4 of MGS: a phenomenal game which completely revolutionises the series, but which is villified by a portion of the fanbase with rigid views of what the series should be.

SHIT.

She's left me just now, I have to track her down in a side op... she's at 100% though. I'm guessing the butterfly emblem won't save me from losing her?

So, can anyone confirm, in the least spoilery way possible, if this game does show how Naked Snake came to be the kind of man who would betray FOXHOUND in the original Metal Gear?

I'm perfectly fine with a slight plot if what's there works and satisfies based on how we know it all ends (i.e. MGS-MGS4).

When does this happen? I'm only on
16
but it would be nice to know so I'm ready.

I... don't know if this applies, because outside of the tank control purists, a lot actually warmed up to the idea of getting out of the labyrinthine Umbrella shit for a little bit at least.

With MGSV, a lot are saying it's good from a gameplay standpoint, but the execution of the story leaves a lot to be desired.

Except it could still have the gameplay it has right now and yet manage to cater to the fans who have vilified it. Instead it chooses to actively ignore that.
