I like how they add Day 1 bonus stuff and have some of the items have insane requirements.

Want to develop this random SMG? That'll be 450,000 GMP please! What's that, you just started playing and have barely enough GMP to buy toilet paper for Mother Base? Well come back after 20 hours when you've earned enough GMP and also unlocked so many other SMG blueprints that it'll render this one useless.
450k GMP isn't actually all that much in the long term. I've earned over 10 million GMP total and I'm not even close to being done with the game.

Just started the game, but it seems less story driven then previous MGS, does this change later on?

Also, I always assumed from the Demo vids that the Fulton Recovery System doesn't alert enemies. Is this true or are there circumstances in which it can?

This game is awesome to play with Spotify on. There are several MGSV playlists out there that really capture the spirit of the 80s. This game is amazing btw.

Holy SHIT are the checkpoints God awful in this. Mission 28 -

Got Code Talker to the LZ, shoot the enemy gunship with 5 (FIVE!) shots from the Killer Bee and it does not go down, blows up my helicopter and kills me. Restart...and I'm back in Code Talkers room. What the fuck?

damn, im fucked now soldiers wear helmets hahaha

they wear gas masks too after i used a smoke grenade twice

Fucking Fueeeeel
Yup, resources are the worst part. It costs me as much to build a 3rd platform for each of my units as it did for me to build my 4th command platform.

Their vision will still be impaired by smoke grenades, IE throw smoke in front of them walk behind the cloud and they won't see you, but you can't use the sleep grenades.

just weird theyre wearing them since ive used smoke grenades only a few times

Well dam mission 29 is a bit on the hard side for me lol.
Been playing the game non lethal so that may be my problem with this mission.

AA will stay destroyed, you have a permanent helicopter zones. Everything else returns after a while.

Anti-air stays out forever and any fast travel points you've unlocked, the rest respawns.

Anti air will stay gone. Comms will come back up.

Servers are still fucked.

Yes, stuff like the radar will stay destroyed forever.

Noted, thanks guys. Tossed a couple of grenades at anti air as I was extracting a prisoner to take care of that.

Anyway, I just unlocked the weapon customization and I am DELIGHTED. Finally! I love customizing weapons in games and this stuff is way too in-depth to be locked behind a couple of side missions.

I'm getting really tired of these missions where I have to take out tanks and helicopters. It's just frustrating and doesn't even emphasis stealth anymore.

There's definitely more story stuff later on in the game, but never nearly as much as earlier MGS games.

If enemies are close enough to hear or see the fulton balloon, they'll be alerted.

So what's the deal with auto assign? It's supposed to assign soldiers to whatever they're best at, but I still have A-ranked people in the waiting room with B or lower people assigned to the units. Even if I move everyone to the waiting room first. Do I really have to manage this manually? :(

Are there any better outfits for Quiet?
I know about the Sniper Wolf one but is that the only one that's not practically naked?

I've heard multiple times this game's story is both a convoluted shitstorm and subtle. How can that be?

If it's the latter, God bless Kojima. Mgs4 gave new meaning to convoluted.

1. Not really.

2. Nearby enemies can absolutely hear and see the balloon.

Can I disable the FOB/online? Not sure how it works but I keep getting attacked and losing members which is quite annoying.

Disconnect and never reconnect to Konami's servers.

You'd think a persistent PvP world wouldn't be a thing people would want with base building and having to be paranoid about losing people. Alas...

what sort of missions will MGO have?

Side ops like? As it'd be great doing them with a friend both sniping and whatever at the same time

I unlocked a new ARM (?) longer distance assault rifle last night, a new LMG, third level C4 for more bang a BUNCH of other stuff (equipped Dwalker with all the goods like the machete and the gatling gun)

I'm sitting there after everything completes looking at missions and wondering what do and then i remember the free roam i'm thinking "time to go test fire all my new toys!" Dropping into the map at the far south and thinking i'm fairly secluded me and quiet start walking towards a field to have some fun and shoot some shit when we glance over and notice a small outpost still fully staffed....

TARGETS YAY!!

What followed was one of the more unhinged, unrelenting displays of firepower from my end i've had a chance to do. The long range firefights in this game when your going full out are amazingly cinematic and... i dunno... even though "realism" isn't exactly a mantra in this game watching your shots drop juuuuust a hair as they should and kick up massive dirt clouds as you exchange back and forth is just too fucking good. Also - soldiers who are scared of Quiet and just shooting wildly towards the direction of her sniper fire are hilarious. Never have I seen such completely terror on display in the form of heavy, sustained, erratic machine gun fire!! :D lol

Ōkami please learn to spoiler tag your shit, this is like the 3rd time.

I'm 25 hours in and on the 14th or 15th mission (can't remember right now) and people are talking about a mission 46... I'm going to be playing this for another 50 hours, aren't I?

Draw the Skulls away a few meters and then sneak around and you should be able to grab the truck without them seeing you.

Or optionally and more manly:
Fight them, like a man

I had Quiet for that mission which was pretty pointless at that point so I had to go it alone basically. Felt badass after all that.
I still fultoned the truck instead of driving it out of the hotzone though.

Fuck the mission where you have to rescue
Huey
and
hide from the Metal Gear. I don't care if it's programmed by the champion of Where's Waldo, there's no reason I should be spotted like this

I actually found it was unrealistically easy to hide from. All I had to do was go behind a rock formation, wait for it to walk past me and then loop around behind it.

Does Quiet continue to shoot all the targets in an area once you tell her to kill or do you have to issue that command for each individual kill?

Take the truck and drive all the way down the road until you hit a blockade. Call a chopper to the location right next to you and you're done.
