Came to post something similar to this. A couple things says: "this is my hobby but it doesn't define my personality."

Also keep it neat and get some cool accents to go with the room.
 
I wouldn't put creepy anime girl figurines but other than that it shouldn't be a problem. You're allowed to keep your hobbies and passions, any reasonable person would be okay with that.
 
Only the bathroom and to a lesser degree my room.

For my kitchen i usually try to keep my refrigerator and liquor cabinets stocked with different kinds of drinks because everyone likes something different.

My living room is where most of my statues are but besides from like family and close friends it rarely gets used for more than 1 hour at most.

I try to keep my bathroom really clean on the idea of what if someone comes over everyday.

My room is sparse, with only my bed, 2 dressers, a bedside table and a walk in closet.
While one of the dressers has my tv/console with a few statues, the other has a mirror and a few basic grooming items(brush,comb etc..).

I also keep a set of 800 thread count sheets and silk pillow cases(I would recommend going with a long strand mulberry silk with a traditional charmeuse weave, it's the smoothest) in my closet for female guest.
 
I just keep it clean and keep drinks in the fridge.

Oh actually I do accommodate, I always make sure that I have everything needed for Hookah.
 
The only nerdy things that I think would potentially turn somebody off are potentially over-sexualized images as posters or figurines. I would probably refrain from that, but I think that's mostly common sense.

Rule of thumb for me is that if you are okay with your parents seeing it, then it's fine for company.
 
Yes, my place place has a pretty classic rustic look, no place for tacky movies posters or nerd toys in my room.

I've got a shelf full of my retro games from nes to ps4
Also some amiibos on display , on the top shelf

The rest of my amiibos are in boxes in my basement , locked away forever
 
If I could pay for a place of my own I would decorate it to my liking not with women in mind, although it might not be considered "nerd decorating" either mainly because all the gaming related stuff is well games, consoles, console accesories and two amiibo. From my experience, it isn't like it'd make a difference anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's how you make your place look awesome (and friendly for women while still keeping your nerd things):

Key things to notice:

(- Hide your nerd things in cabinets.)
- I've set an interior design theme (modern corporate)
- I've set a colour theme (white, grey, and black with splashes of bright colours accented everywhere)
- Everything here outside the electronics and the couch/chairs is cheap Ikea furniture. You can get great looking furniture for cheap, would definitely recommend. The David Eames Lounge chair, Barcelona chairs, Aeron chair, and Couch were expensive though but you can find cheaper alternatives. I guess the bar stools were slightly expensive at $250 each.
- I hide my cables through the walls, between baseboard and floor, and use zap straps and sticky zap strap hooks that I place behind furniture to run the wires+strap through.
- Carpets are ugly. Consider getting rid of them if you own.
- Put up art wherever you can. I used cheap prints, some even video game based, but nothing most people would recognize as from a video game. Gotta keep it classy.

Sports fan is just another form of "nerd" as far as a lot of women are concerned.
 
My nerd stuff that isn't a book all fits onto a shelf minus a 12 inch figure that is still in packaging and old 3.75 inch figures in a box that I'm gonna give away. By the way, all of this is in one room (mine) as I don't own a place yet (still live with parents. I'm young).

Nerd stuff:
6 Marvel Legends figures (6 inch comic book figures).
2 Harry Potter wands I bought when I was like 10.
1 Marauders Map I bought around the same time as the wands.
1 Star Wars Funko Pop Rey still in packaging and signed by the actress.
1 Star Wars Elite Series figure still in packaging and signed by the actor.
2 Transformers figures from Japan. Sideswipe and Galvatron.
1 die-cast X-Wing. Quite small.

Those all fit onto a shelf. Will be giving away or selling the wands. I also have two art books, five hardcover comics, five trade paperback comics and a long box full of floppies (which I no longer buy). Everything else is digital.

I wouldn't count DVDs/BDs as nerd stuff, but I'll mention that they're in the living room on shelves. I'd like to get a cabinet for them someday.

Edit: Forgot to mention posters. I only buy posters like Drew Struzan's Star Wars work. They're not very tacky looking.
 
I don't consider other people when it comes to home decoration. I personally think action figures/statues on display are tacky as hell, so i don't own any and if I did I wouldn't display them.
I also prefer the "artsier" film posters, all framed too. No "box cover" shit. Thumbtacks are ugly as fuck too.
Mostly, I value cleanliness. Shit has to look clean and organized.

I say do what you want. There's somebody who will appreciate those things eventually.
 
I decorate my home how I like, it just happens to be mostly girl friendly. I don't like having toys and gaming stuff laying everywhere, so I have one spot where I keep the excess and keep the rest setup nice and clean. My home has a rule that the main floor and master bedroom need to be kept 'nice' looking, and the rest we take liberties on to make it look fun.

Though if you have limited real estate, I'd do the best I could to make it look clean but i'm not hiding all my shit to impress a girl.
 
I keep the living room straight-forward, but if you go into the bedroom, it's otaku city. It's all very well arranged and organized, but I make no attempt to hide my collection(or posters). I figure it's who I am, and if someone can't accept it, they couldn't tolerate me anyway.
 
Here's my room. Pretty basic, slightly dormy I guess, but at least it's relatively clean and I don't have gaming posters up. The are visible controllers, but whatever, games are a fact of life in 2015.

That's what a game room is for imo. My game room is nerded out big time. Arcade game, merchandise, video game guides, comic books, framed posters. and tons of video games. Rest of the house? Normal

My brother ripped up the carpet in his downhome and cut and installed the hardwood himself. Just followed an online tutorial, though he has a knack for that kind of stuff.

I like the way my current apartment is set up. Carpet in bedroom and den. Hardwood in living room.

Yeah that would be ideal. Unfortunately I just have a bedroom and living room and the stuff has to go in one of the two.

This thread has given me some good ideas though. I think cabinets will help out alot with making things feel a bit tidier. I just need to save up money for some new furniture, haha
 
Yea I decided that I wanted to "grow" out of my awesome wolverine poster, nfl posters, and marvel wall art. It's a nice feeling to still love that stuff, but it's also nice to have my room looking alot more mature and modern for my age of 24. I recently had the girl I've been dating over, and she loved how clean and "mature" my room looked compared to other guys she's dated. Makes me feel like it's worth it ;)
 
Keep a trash bin in the bathroom or they know you're a virgin.

Otherwise, don't try to pretend to be something you're not. Have answers for why that Amiibo collection was necessary.
 
Im not afraid to put out a few things that show nerdery like a Playstation or some toys, but I wouldn't turn that into some kind of theme for the room. Besides the fact that it looks tacky to me, I wouldn't want my date thinking that I have no sense of aesthetics.

This basically. My bedroom is very simple with just my colognes and a souvenir on display.

My game room, on the other hand, has movie/music posters, signed CDs, video games, a very few funko pop figures, and a Persona figure. However, it also has stuff people wouldn't consider nerdy like guitars, decorative art, and exercise equipment. I've taken a few women to the game room, and they liked it especially the James Bond poster and the guitars. They didn't mind the other stuff I'm guessing since they've been in the room multiple times. Been trying to tone it down as time goes by.
 
Man one time I had this girl over and she laughed at my fucking face because I had the Halo 3 cat helmet. I tried to explain to her that I was a really big Halo fan but she wasn't having any of it and instead made fun of me for spending $129.99 on a space marine helmet that barely fits on a cat
