How often do you update your important tech?

Is it a reference to your wife again?

Computer: Generally, every 2 years, timed with the release of the latest GPU tech

Consoles: Whenever a new one is released.

Phone: When I was on Android I updated pretty much every year because of decent trade-in incentives when I bought my phone directly from Google. Since switching to Apple, I've been upgrading every two years because they seem to make somewhat major changes to their phones on that same cycle. Currently have a iPhone 16 Pro Max and see absolutely no reason to upgrade to a 17.

Everything else: Whenever I feel like it

Phones: I change phones every few android versions. I still used Xperia XZ3 2 years ago...

PC: I tend to be up to date on GPUs but change entire platforms/CPUs every few years. I was using 2600k between 2013-2019.

Consoles: I bought PS5 one year after it launched but looking at this gen... I will probably buy PS6 in 2029 or 2030. No need to do that before and I have PS5 Pro.

TV: I bought LG B2 in 2022 and I think I will rock it until it dies - it has all the features needed for PS5, PC (and PS6 in the future).

Updated my tv after 16 years.
Update my phone maybe every 5 years.
Get the new consoles when they are relatively new.
I built my last pc in 2009 and upgraded the gpu when the 770 came out. I don't have it anymore as I don't game on pc and I have a work laptop.
When I do update my tech, I tend to go for the hi-end stuff that will hopefully last a long time because I don't like throwing things out.
