NI NO KUNI 2 IN FIVE DAYS AAAAAAAAAAAAH

and whatever their level 5 x sce game is

hope it doesn't have shit combat, like ni no kuni has, or white knight chronicles had

If I get these games during the conference...

  • Gravity Rush 2
  • Shenmue 1+2 HD
  • Boku no Natsuyasumi 5
  • Ni no Kuni 2
  • Danganronpa 3
  • More of The Last Guardian
  • PS4-only Yakuza
  • A new Toro & Kuro game
  • Ape Escape 4
  • A Persona 5 blowout
...then TGS will officially top the E3 of Dreams. Maybe.

They have two in development, and they're both exclusive. Not exactly titles you'd find an audience for on Xbox One anyway.

Gimme dem JRPGs

What I really want is one rpg from each Japanese publisher. I don't care about the quantity either, one game can make difference if done right.

I would be happy with new info for games we already know and a couple new reveils, but considering the number of the knowns and if each gets an update, this year's TGS is going for E3 levelsof excitement.

What's it going to take to destroy your soul basically?

Going forward there are two games that are guaranteed to blow my mind and have a potential to be at TGS.

Mega Man AAA (TPS) with a solid reveal - Capcom.

Contra AAA (TPS) with a solid reveal - Konami.

E3 2016 is the year I beg the Naughty Ones to finally embrace sci-fi and with it, change gaming all together, for it will not be the same ever again. But it's probably going to be TLOU2....so, E3 2018.

2 from level 5?

Hmmmmmmmmm

Dark Cloud 3 / Ni No Kuni 2
New IP

That would be my guess. Maybe Sony sees the popularity of Yukai Watch and got L5 to make it for the PS4 / Vita?

Sounds like you're challenging me to a duel in a children's card game, Dargor. I'm not sure that's allowed now since we're all supposed to hate Konami.

Also, let's open this up for some actual discussion then. It's TGS. What are your hopes for what you'd like to see? More than likely, people will be pleased to varying degrees since expectations always differ with these events.

There is Level-5's game that is yet to be seen. Do you feel this is the appropriate venue for this game, and if it is, what kind of game are you looking for? Would you be happy with a sequel to an old IP like Ni no Kuni, or would you prefer a new IP?

Bandai Namco is a significant publisher in Japan, so is there anything you'd want to see from them? New entries in franchises like Soulcalibur, Tekken for PS4 finally, or would you prefer seeing something entirely different from them?

Do you think it's possible to see something from Capcom besides what is already announced? Titles like DMC, Resident Evil, or even titles that may be unexpected such as a new IP, or revisits to older franchises?

How about Square Enix? They have a bunch of stuff on the way. There are several titles they have announced like FFXV, KH3 etc. so would you prefer new information on those existing titles, or do you still want to see new announcements from them?

What about Sony? Would you be satisfied with another look at TLG, and Bloodborne DLC, or is it time you feel to finally see something else from them too on the PS4?

Around what level of content do you want to see in order to be satisfied? It's obviously not going to be E3, so how do your expectations vary? Are you looking for a couple of new games to be announced that capture your interest, or do you want to see several new announcements, plenty of information on existing games, and some notable surprises?

What's it going to take to destroy your soul basically?

Wish for nothing and you won't be dissapointed. Thats my motto. As if. I wish for too much at times.

First off, I wasn't challenging you at all. I just slapped you lol. You know you deserved it :P.

About Level 5's game, I always prefer a new IP to revisiting an old one, generally speaking. Action RPG, please. But if its anything to do with The Legend of Dragoon, I want that instead, hehehe. Remake, remaster, prequel, sequel, anyting with a -equel, basically :D. And its the perfect stage for the revelation of a JRPG, me thinks.

From Namco i would love a new Ace Combat, on the old models. I loved that the games made you feel special, unlike the latest entries.

On the Capcom front. I have a question. Where is Deep Down? I think we really need to know whats going on on that end, don't you think? I realy think they need to get that out of the way before they start talking about new stuff.

The same goes for Square. They have too many games already in the oven to start talking about new stuff. Speacially when you talk about FFXV, after that last disaster, they really need to shed a good light on it.

And Sony, oh boy. They really need to show that secret RPG they are making. From the scope its rumored to have, gotta be good. Believe it or not, I think they should have a time dedicated to Horizon: Zero Down. I feel it has a really good chance to be a great success in Japan. It has that Monster Hunter vibe and, if properly presented, I think it should turn some heads.

I try to keep my expectations in check when it comes to anything coming from Japan nowadays. I'm mainly a console gamer, even if I do have a gaming pc, so I know that japanese game makers aren't that focused on consoles right now.

So even if just one of the things I cited happens, it'll be enought to make me happy. Like really happy.

Bolded.

Do you think that's a possibility? I mean we're getting a lenghty ATR just a few days after. Maybe the so called extended Dawn trailer?

Well they usually show the trailers beforehand so the SCEJA conference would be an ideal opportunity.

Basically, I think it's time for a lot of developers to get their shit together. We're nearly two years in. We're hitting the half-way point of the generation soon, and it's time to actually start delivering news that inspires faith and confidence.
That's rather sad isn't it
Sceja part in particular
considering it's their own hardware

You know, I'm starting to think we'll see something from FF VII remake in this conference, a small CG trailer again or something like that. Gotta keep de hype burning, and this is the perfect moment to do this in Japan.

I'd settle for some news about PS1/PS2 BC. I'm kinda expecting it actually, since I think it's unlikely those "classic" PS2 Star Wars games are ports, and Japan seems like the territory that'd be most interested in that. I just want to know how big of jerks Sony will be about the emulation. Will it just be PSN Classics and we have to pray the games we want get released? Will there be cross-buy with ones we've already bought on PSN? Will they let us use our own discs, even if we have to pay for the emulator?

It doesn't help that TLG and Gravity aren't exactly new games. Plus, they do assist in a lot of other things happening on that end. But yes, I'm about ready for someone else to deliver like Nathaniel Drake did. As a fan, that's what I'm waiting for. I'm sure Horizon will be very nice, but it's not necessarily for me. That leaves me with Sucker Punch, The Benders, and Japan Studio. They're the ones currently involved in projects that I really like what I've seen of. It will probably come down to SP or Japan Studio.

Or I just need Uncharted 4 as soon as possible. It needs to restore my faith in gaming. MGSV has cut me far too deep.

I feel like such a child. Don't judge me man! Don't judge me!

Give me Lair 2

I'm serious! That shit had a ton of potential it just needed more polish and such. But God did it look good and had some strong moments

On the subject of Sucker Punch, is their game more ambitious than what they've done in the past? I feel like the last 3 inFamous games were really restrained and could have been so much more. Second Son especially, with it's insane graphics, had a rather short story and the side quests were trash as usual (and the sound in the city still sucks for some reason). You don't have to provide specifics, I just want a sense of how this compares to their other games.

Yes, Rogue Galaxy was cool.
Characters, dialogues and plot where pretty shit imho, but the combat, the character progress, and especially the glorious planets exploration (plus the optional content) were amazing.

Whaaaaat? 2 Level-5 games for PS4?

So there is a chance for Ni ni Kuni 2! I was thinking it couldnt be NnK2 because their project was supposedly a Sony collaboration (which means it couldnt be Ni no Kuni, because Sony doesnt own the IP), but now... EVERYTHING CHANGES!

My prediction: Ni no Kuni 2 and a new IP (this one will be the collaboration project).

OMG. I have never been so excited for TGS like this year! Bring it on.

As long as they don't have the characters say the same thing every 5 seconds in Rogue Galaxy 2 I'd be all for that. Was such a mood killer when you traversed through an area and heard the same line 20 times.

Level 5 is rolling around in Yukai Watch profits atm so no doubt they will splurge on their next epic console RPG. Makes me excited for what they will be able to put together.

Rogue Galaxy is another game I missed out on. PS2 just had far too many games.

Also lol, Level-5 isn't announcing 2 PS4 games at TGS. Come on now. That'd be kind of crazy, no?

In defense of Sucker Punch, I feel they were the first developer to provide a solid exclusive game from an internal studio, and they managed to do it in the early launch period. Second Son was was a pretty good game for what it was. When you consider how many games have been delayed, and how many other games that were in the pipeline from two years ago, and are yet to release, that's impressive in my eyes.

Maybe it wasn't as ambitious because every developer has to work within certain restrictions, and working with new hardware to launch an early title isn't an easy task. Second Son did a lot of things right, and the game was fun to play. It's just the open world needed to be feel more developed, and more variety in the mission design would have been welcome. Those are its biggest flaws, and they're probably what most people felt disappointed with.

For a team that isn't that big at all, yet remain consistent, I think they can create something special. Naturally, their next game is going to feel more polished than what they released with Second Son.

Just out of interest, and I'm not sure if you're allowed to answer this (so it's fine if you don't!) but is their next game a sequel to inFamous SS or a new IP? IIRC, a job listing indicated that it may be a return to the inFamous universe, which is a shame considering I'd like to see what they can do with a new IP. Any confirmation on that if you don't mine me asking? :)

So i guess we'll only see one of the two L5 games, or both?

Yeah, for being an early title, SS still amazes me.
I think that in pure tech their facial capture has been surpassed (or will soon be), but i still feel Delsin's expressions are the most natural and realistic in any videogame.
Still my top next-gen moment.

That was quite impressive. I think Sucker Punch could benefit from playing with something a little more stylized. It could add a lot of flair. Distinctive design, to an extent, could assist with making things feel more unique.

Second Son was definitely fun and it looked amazing but it was a bit of a downer after the excellent Infamous 2.

100 % agree.

I feel like with a bit more time and effort, we can definitely see something cool from SF.

I'd take Dark Cloud 3 any day over Rogue Galaxy. It was a fun game, but a majority of what made it fun was copy and pasted straight from Dark Cloud 2. The characters were underdeveloped messes and the plot throwing nonsensical punches at you with no real follow up or explanation and more importantly, no real payoff
