Rashid Confirmed for Street Fighter V

Can these posts stop already?

Also am I the only one who wants to see every new character ASAP? I want to see the new designs... then afterwards see the returning fighters.

but it probably wouldnt be optimal for hype before release

Then again, knowing that Alex is the most wanted fighter back, him being revealed last would be pretty dope.

Alex is pretty high up there in requests next to Urien, but last I read in the popularity polls out of Japan more People wanted to see some sf4 characters and alpha characters back more then 3rd strikers. If I remember correctly Karin was the number 1 on all the poles.

Trying to find the sources but it was in that one theory crafting video on Eventhubs like 2 days ago.

I like his look and style. Good offensive mix-ups and that wall jump?! D:

Not crazy about his voice, seems a little Americanized. I kind of wish he had a little bit of a middle-eastern accent.

Did they give a country of origin? Style of dress looks kind of Saudi to me.

I would argue some of those are more trope than stereotype, but yeah. Sf has always been tropey

They just take characters from other fiction. You would be astounded if you actually sat down how many street fighters are based on other fictional folk or real people. Its a lot.

He doesn't even seem that tropey honestly

The serious karate man from Japan?
The fat sumo man from Japan?
The cocky military american?
The anorexic thin bald headed voddoo man of India?
The flamboyant bull fighter from Spain?
The cocky african american who ofcourse is a boxer in Vegas?
The proud and honorable indian wearing denim and a feather?
The dancing smiling black guy from Jamaica?

don't forget the russian guy who wrestles bears.

I think the character looks great but I'm getting some El Fuerete flashbacks from his moveset,

Yeah, sad to see some of the posts that aren't even focusing on his look or gameplay.

Excited to see zen the new Indian fighter!

(If ken bogards list is correct).

He got the name Rashid right last year. He got Vtriggers way before we knew what it was. I think we can count on Laura being revealed in Brazil.

just watched the official trailer damn those animations are sick
really unique characters coming around in SFV

i wonder if capcom would do a female character in a hijab

You know, looking him over, he does seem a shade or two darker than actual Arab men, particularly native Emiratis.
It's just a matter of 15 minutes under the Middle East's sun to get to that skin tone, no matter how pale the person is, and guess what, he's a street fighter! ;p

We had a chance to speak with Ono-san about this big announcement and what kind of research went into creating this character. He said that it was a challenge at first to figure out how this character looks and what kind of moves would be suited to him as Capcom does not have many Middle Eastern employees. But they worked closely with Sony and their Middle Eastern distributor Pluto Games and with their help they were able to make a character everyone would be happy with.

Agreed I think he's Saudi but all in, ambigous Arab is just fine ;3

Whats the issue
Is 9/11 national arabic people hate day ?
It feels like that in the US sometimes :/

Liking Rashid's look a lot. I feel he 'fits' a bit better than Necalli, though I only really find Necalli weird in his V-Trigger form. Rashid's design is just like a classic SF character: an obvious stereotype :')

Also tornadoes are cool. Joe Higashi approves.

Would love to see a fat german guy in Lederhosen, and everytime he throws big glasses of beer he shouts "BIERKRUGEN!".

Nah, we need to go all up in the stereotype, a character called Baron Von Blitzenstein, with a mustache like Von Kaiser and always wearing one of those pointy WWI helmets(while STILL wearing lederhosen). His intro has him comes out with two buxom Oktoberfest bar maidens with a beer stein in his his hand, gulps it down, then laughs, "Das gut!". His fighting style is that one "slap dance" they do in National Lampoon's European Vacation.

We also need someone from Australia... notably a Bunyip!
