So, does it seem like the Phoenix Force will pop up in any of the books you guys are reading? I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop with that. I'm convinced it's going to be a Checkov's gun.

While I enjoyed Spider Island #3 with its Agent Venom and the Monster Avengers super fun time
and I'm sure there was somebody super into seeing MJ and the others transform from spider monsters to lizard monsters
, I'm a bit sad that Mayday just gets this little back-up feature.

Ugh star lord and kitty was bad.

I'm feeling stupid asking this-but who is Rune Thor?

"Rune Thor" is the name that refers to Thor when he gained the Odinforce, as well as an understanding of the norse runes. Happened around the time of "Avengers Disassembled."
That Thor surpassed odin, stopped the cycle of ragnarok and defeated "those who sit above in shadow" who had been manipulating the asgardians for millenia.

easily the most powerful variant of Thor.

For the purposes of secret wars though, he's just another Thor. doesn't seem to be anywhere near the power level he was in 616.

Nice.

The ending of Renew Your Vows #5 was something else.

Hey, Parker family, you just overthrew a tyrannical despot who wanted to destroy God Emperor Doom? What are you gonna do now?

Have breakfast? Okay!

It's a last days book but damn, Ms. Marvel this week was great again, beautiful issue. I love the characterization and how much GWW manages to get out of the Secret Wars #1 context.

I just read Civil War #4 and I kind of wish this was an ongoing. One of the best Secret Wars titles imo.
Seconded.
I've been enjoying it so far but what they pulled this week
is so elegantly meta. A Secret Invasion book masquerading as another book is a really nice twist.
The fact it's a better series than both its inspirations helps a lot too, and Yu really fits the tone of the book.

So, I find it interesting that at least three of the Secret Wars books
have ended with something devastating happening to/about to happen involving the Shield
. Old Man Logan
fights his way through and over it
. In A-Force,
Loki breaks it down
. In Siege,
the wall is about to be destroyed (supposedly) by the arrival of 616 (assumedly) Thanos.
Now, maybe, and I'm just throwing it out there, but maybe the next major plot point in SW is that
the Shield breaks causing hell on earth, which distracts Doom in some way
.

Just spitballing.

Log line for Secret Wars #6 is "The Final War", so yeah, that's definitely what's happening. I thought the end of Secret Wars #5 made that pretty clear all on its own.

Planet Hulk had a bad twist, too.

Who ended up on the Shield? Just Thanos? I thought someone else did, too.

Just Thanos. And Secret Wars #5 and Siege #3 seem to happen concurrently because Thanos gets to the Shirld at the very end of SW #5, but he also doesn't show up in Siege #3 until the last page.

So, uh... what was supposed to be the payoff for Korvac Saga? Because, not being familiar with the original Korvac arc, that sure looked like it ended on a whimper.

"oh yeah, our mayor
was a borderline god and we kinda can remember the stars now. /end"

I think korvacs insanity allowed him to remember the universe before battleworld, which is a nono for doom. So he had the lands wiped out. Before he died he sent the memories of the pre battleworld into the remaining members who became guardians of the universe

Is Marvel aware that I don't want to read their ANAD shit if Secret Wars is not finished?

I mean I'm barely interested in ANAD anyway.. but I won't read it without the Event causing it ending

To be fair, this only maintains the tradition of Secret Wars - the first one did this shit even worse, since the normal titles didn't stop and you had to wait eight months to see how spider-man got his black costume, for example.

Yup, because ANAD isn't getting pushed back.

Seriously, what's up with Ribic? Is he the reason why it's taking so long?

The rumours are not really, or at least not entirely.

It seems to be a joint clusterfuck between Marvel's editorial demands on work that has already been completed (and them doing the timing exceptionally badly), Hickman perhaps not responding at full tilt (but I'm not sure I would in that situation either) and Ribic perhaps not being able to pivot quite so quickly to accommodate all this.
