Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Well when it comes to story I am very easy to please. I LOVE Halo's story and I liked a lot of the ideas behind Destiny. It wasn't that the story was bad, it was nonexistent. So some semblance of a story will be enough.

IT would be doable for you. I don't think you would be wowed but its basically there in forms Destiny 1.0 didn't have.

Pretty much the least favorite strikes for most people. They aren't BAD, per se, but they aren't good, haha. Lot of folks would back out and go to orbit when they came in the rotation.

Dust Palace became pretty damn fun when shotguns got buffed, IMO.

Looking forward to seeing what changes they made to the old strikes. Pretty cool, and surprising, thing for Bungie to have done IMO.

Nightstalker is completely fucking awesome. You generate orbs whenever your tethered enemies are killed, so if someone uses a super on your tethered enemies you both make orbs. Madness.

but does it download all the files and updates I need or do I have to download those 18gb when I put in TTK?

No direct answer here from some research but it seems that you may not have to download the other content.
According to Bungie, there shouldn't be any additional download:

Q: How do I upgrade to the full game?

The Destiny Trial on Playstation 4 and Xbox One can be upgraded by purchase to the full game from the digital storefront. Trial upgrade is instantaneous and no further download is required.

To upgrade the Destiny Demo on Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, you must purchase Destiny from a retailer or digital storefront. Once you have launched the full version of Destiny, and confirmed your existing character progression has transferred over, you may delete the Destiny Demo file, as you will no longer require it.

Nearly had a cow just now lol... Went to Gamestop to pick up my TTK CE and they're like... "We've got some bad news.... They shipped us one short. But we can give you the regular edition until the collectors comes in and then we can exchange it blah blah blah..."

And I said... "Nah..... Can you just cancel the order and refund me? I'll order it digitally when I get home." And not to be deterred of a sale, he offers, "...oh! Well we can sell you the digital version right here!!"

So I'm like okay. Cool. Didn't know you guys did digital orders. And he smiles as he repeats out loud what he's typing... "okay great, one ps4 destiny collectors edition coming right up."

Time slowed down.

I laughed out loud...literally. "No ps4 sir. Xbox one."

And he got really red and was suddenly super apologetic... "Ohhhhhhhhhh shit man, scratch eeeeverything I just said. We've got a Xbox one copy here."

Fucking Gamestop lol

I've gone to my GameStop nearby for things like controllers and have come up empty handed

Games controllers and accessories I've all had issues finding at GameStop

picked up my copy today.

Does this game have a good onboarding process? I played the beta so i kinda know a little about the game but im wondering if i should keep my phone at the ready with a guide in hand when i start or if it does a good job of trickling out the details

ok, no fanboy details please, but..... I have both XBOX ONE and PS4. Is the game better on one system than the other?

If you're going to stick around in the DGAF community (join in raids, strikes, pvp trains), I would suggest on PS4. Most of them play on that console.

LOL awesome story

That's pretty big, along with the much bigger playerbase.

Crucible is also WAY easier on PS4, making 9-0 easier too in trials.

But don't you want to play Halo with the same buddies you play Destiny with?

Anyway yeah, PS4 has more content and more users. If you do pick Xbox, add me.

I have been getting all of my ducks in a row for this to drop for about two weeks.

For each character I :
Completed all 16 bounties.
Edged at least 2 factions and cryptarch.
Got at least 3 focused lights.

I played last night (got up at 3AM) downloaded the "small" update that took me 40 minutes and got to level 40 after about an hour.

Played through the first few missions and used a Focused Light. Right after I unlocked the storm caller I went to the tower, took another Focused Light, equipped all my unleveled items and turned in the 16 bounties. Got to level 40 and was a cm away from getting to the next "level" after 40. Got my new stuff from the post master and I was happy. I have all new TTK gear on my warlock except for the gauntlets.

Have to go do this with my other characters when I get home. This game feels different but in a very good way. So excited for the raid :)

How much of your Stormcaller subclass did this unlock? I plan on doing the same thing with my Titan tonight!

Is it still honeymoon phase and too early to say how long lasting this expansion will be? While the 2.0 updates to the base game sound good, the types of content they expect you to repeat for months still seem the same. While the raids not out yet I don't think it'll be too radically different an experience from VoG. I guess chasing all the new exotics will keep the high going for awhile, huh.

I honestly enjoyed the VT more than anything in the game for some reason. I liked it a lot.
I was smiling the whole time. It was a great way for Bungie to thank us for the time we've put in and prove that they're listening to our feedback.

It was unexpected too. Didn't expect anything other than a postmaster delivery for the items.

I'm currently playing on PS4 but I'm planning to get a XBone again in the upcoming months.
In the last year I played Destiny (bought the LE) and I had three highLvL characters. I'm eager to play "Taken King", because I can see all the improvements that have been made to the game.
I did not play any of the expansions yet, cause I sold my XB1 before the first Expansion was available.

I cant really decide what to do:

1. Get Destiny for PS4 (Legendary Edition) with PS4 exclusive content
I would have to start from scratch.

2. Get Destiny for XB1 in 1-2 Months (Upgrade) and get the VIP-Rewards.
I would have a lot of (year 2) exotics on my bank (Suros, Ice-Breaker, Last Word... to mention a few)

My three XBOX-Characters:
- Hunter LvL 29
- Warlock LvL 26
- Titan LvL 25

Thanks Cryptarch!

As a Xbox player and with a Warlock as my main... This pleases me.

You can always just boost to 25 on ps4

Never had a problem getting into a xbox team on r/fireteams but yeah on gaf it's definitely mostly ps4

No one is saying the Xbox version is a ghost town - far from it - but it does matter if you want to play with other gaffers, as probably 90% of us have the PS4 version. I'd be happy with either in the end.

Different strokes for different folks
I can run the same content for months, waiting for hard mode (and new weapons) to drop. Some people can't do that

I already have both DLC packs, and I want to make sure that all I need is the $40 legendary edition, right? Thanks
Correct

I never played Destiny aside from an hour with a quick PS3 rental (I have a PS4 now).

As a fan of Bungie back in the day (through Halo 3), is this worth picking up if I plan on playing mostly alone or PvP? I really don't have the friends or time for much co-op.

Thanks Cryptarch!

I logged on for 20 minutes this morning and got the Monte Carlo as well. Was pretty excited even though I heard it's kinda crap. Can't wait to get home and level dead orbit for those packages.

That's the underlying problem ain't it? This game is great if you're obsessive compulsive about doing collectathon-like activities in end game. But if you're looking for a soloable varied end game that you can actually grasp (and inevitably move onto your next game with) destiny is not your cup of tea.

Honestly if you aren't going to do raids and other co-op stuff, I wouldn't bother, as other FPS are better in the PVP area, and the story, while improved, still mostly sucks when you consider the entire game.
