Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Thanks for the replies.

I will be starting at Level 0. So I will have to play all the original Destiny stuff again I take it?

Not necessarily. The level 25 booster you get unlocks all of the missions up to and including the first TTK mission on Phobos. You can literally just go from there with a level 25 character, since it also gives you equipment to bring you up to a reasonable light level for the content. It's usually useful to go do some of the other content for the EXP, but it' not truly necessary.

However, since you never did the 2 DLC packs, it might not be bad to do those, particularly the House of Wolves missions. You'll be getting questlines to do content anyway, though.

Thanks man.

So we start at Lv.25 in the Legendary Edition?

Sorry for all of the questions.

Sorry for all of the questions.

You get an item which instantly bumps one of your characters to level 25 and some level-appropriate gear to equip.

After you do that, you can start playing "The Taken King" story missions immediately. Your first mission will be on Mars.

That's cool, thanks! Would you recommend me taking the bump to lv.25 or start from the beginning? Won't I have missed loads of story if I just start at 25?

I think you get a one time use item, but i would suggest you to hold on to that and play your first character from 1 to 40 and then skip everything on your second character.

I also recently went back to destiny I made it to level 20 and then bailed in 2014. Now I'm at level 29 and am thinking about getting the full expansion now. I'll play that for awhile then I'll try the division when it has more content.

Do not use the level 25 bump. As it only bumps your level and not your abilities. By the time you get through the year 1 missions you'll be in the mid 30s and will be 40 by the end of taken king. What makes it better is that you should have at least one maxed out subclass and about half of another. The third is unlocked in TTK.

I also highly recommend Crucible for leveling. Even if you suck, just jump in to the control lists or rumble and play. You will level super fast if you want to.

Finally when you complete daily bounties equip your secondary subclass. It will make leveling both of them easier on you.

Also remember that most of the gear you will get before the Taken King Missions will be quickly replaced so don't use any weapon parts or armor parts on it. Seriously save all your materials for level 40 gear. You will be fine.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but I thought this would be the best place to ask.

I played the original Destiny (the first release) back in 2014 and found it quite boring after a while so deleted it from the PS4 hard drive and traded it at my game store.

Like a lot of you, over the last 7 days I've been playing The Division and have been enjoying it. I am nearly at Level 30 and feel that I'm coming to the end so fancy getting back to Destiny after this. Last night I watched Giant Bomb's 'Taken King' Quick-Look and the game looks far more interesting now.

I have just bought the PS4 version of Destiny: The Taken King Legendary edition which apparently has the O.G. Destiny and all of the DLC including the latest Taken King.

Also do not forget to ask for a veteran to help you out in the refer a friend quest. You have seven days from activating the Taken King to link up. It is a fun quest which - have done on Xbox and PS4.

Up to you. Vanilla Destiny was generally panned for its story but the actual movement and shooting is pretty great. Personally, I never used my leveling item and I eventually got three characters to 310+ light.

I guess I would recommend playing the original missions from level 1. If you don't enjoy it, you can always use the item to skip ahead.

I've played with one character up to 29 I guess I should start a second character.

I'd also add. Get one character to level 40/280+ and then if you want to start another character remember to switch your highest light level weapons over so it will get to max level faster.

Yep! That's pretty much what I've been doing the past week or so, I finally started getting around to leveling my 2nd and 3rd characters. Got my Titan to 291 light or so and I only have a few purple armor pieces for her so far. The weapons being able to be shared between characters really helps. :D
