why not? it has the smoothest combat and the most moving story in the series

Most moving story in the series? I will never understand this. Ludger is a character they pulled out of their asses for the sake of a sequel they didn't originally plan. Playing through the game, I kept wondering why I was supposed to care about this guy. The game's story gets praise for being more mature, but I think there's a difference between being dark for the sake of being dark and actually being well-written. Xillia 2 just came off as son try-hard edgy and grimdark to me. Characters were introduced just to be killed off later
poor alt!Milla
. Some of the worst writing I've seen in the Tales series, really. How can I be moved when I'm given no good reason to care about these new characters who are going to die off faster than someone on Game of Thrones?

Kinda hard to care for any of the new chars especially since Ludger doesn't talk. The loli being his "voice" doesn't really do it for me.

I really liked Elle, but I didn't like how she had to be Ludger's voice all the time. Ludger being a silent protagonist reeked of lazy writing to me. As it was easier to integrate him with the Xillia 1 cast that way. It's also hard to care for any of the new characters
when pretty much all of them are dead by the end of the game
.

Between several blatantly romantic scenes in game and through skits, and word of god describing the two in romantic terms, it's pretty obvious.

A very old friend of mine in my country heard that voice too long ago, she didn't end well but her fight was worthwhile, I still meet her from time to time.

The only reason you're doubting it is because it's about two guys.

Waw ok, I hope that the next step is not gonna be about me being homophobic? Please don't try to judge my values based on a few posts about a game you apparently didn't even play.
I'm not opposed to the idea at all btw (and I'm aware of most of the said "proofs"), you're just using a very poor way to defend what is your opinion on this matter.

It was fun while it lasted but I'm gonna stop here, can't argue with facts and God after all.

"Word of God" is a term used for describing information specifically from game's staff.

Unlike you, I've done my research. Between developer comments, the blatantly romantic scenes and skits, how the two are written together like practically ever other romance in the Tales series, it's fairly obvious to anyone who's paying attention. It genuinely does not matter what you think.

The CE is up on amazon.ca so it should be so for amazon.com too.

PC as well? Well, that gives me one more reason to hold off on a PS4.

As long as it's not locked at 30 fps or some kinda nonsense I'd imagine it's pretty hard to screw up this port.

Do we know what they are going to price it at on PC? There's no price yet on the Steam listing.

Yup.

The tier 3 pre-order bonus has been moving like a snail for the past few months on steam

I'm starting to wonder if it's going to be able to reach it's goal so we can get Symphonia for free if we pre ordered it.

With only two months left and ton of other stuff releasing soon I'm not to hopeful :/

We have 2 months. It'll probably get another push once it's almost out. I can't think of a pre-purchase reward that didn't make it before.

damn not even 60fps on pc tho? :/

Their explanation:
It’s now time to talk about the framerate; all versions of Tales of Zestiria will run at a constant 30 frames per second. Before you run off to the comment section, hear us out! The Tales of battle system has always been an integral part of the gameplay experience, and changing the framerate proved to have profound consequences on things like: animation, balance, difficulty, and overall fighting mechanics tuning. We do this in the best interest for the players’ experience!

I guess animation is tied to the framerate.

Animation is likely tied to the framerate and thus would cause issues without a lot of reworking and likely a big delay that would piss fans off even more. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

They didn't lie though or wait and hope no one notices so they should get some credit for that

Uh oh.

So framerate that difficult to untangle, eh?
Somehow I'm a bit doubtful. I feel like they didn't want to allocate the resources to an external company to take the time to unlock the framerate.

They were most likely using an external company as the Tales team would be too busy working on the next Tales of title to deal with porting this.

At least it should be solid 30fps on PS4. I didn't like the dips on PS3, in addition to very low IQ.

Won't stop me from playing it on PC, but I really hope this bad practice of tying animations/physics/etc to framerate will stop.

So basically shitty programming like in Dark Souls II, where unlocking the framerate messes up mechanics.

I hate to say it, but I guess I might be skipping over this port. Hopefully they don't use that same excuse for the Tales of Symphonia port.

Fluid combat systems likes Tales' are an absolute travesty to play in 30 fps.

A little disappointed but as long as it doesn't dip below 30 I'm fine. I want to see what a tales game looks like at high visual fidelity settings on my PC.

Any news on if the preorder numbers met namco's demand and we're gonna get symphonia for free?

dem spin, just answer its tied to animation

I'm fine with it but people will raise torch with that shitty answer

changing the framerate proved to have profound consequences on things like: animation, balance, difficulty, and overall fighting mechanics tuning.

:)

and everything else would also be affected because of it ie double the amount of hits due to double the framerate leading to the game being too easy and unbalanced.

All of this is tied to animation which is mentioned there.

It's at 32%, so it's not on track to make it unless it sells a bunch of preorders in the last week. And who knows if the PC audience will freak out over the 30 FPS lock.

Yeah it's a problem with devs that don't do PC games or multiple platforms of differing power. They tie all sorts of things to frame rate for timing. When it gets ported later the team figures out they can't change it because it breaks all types of things. Hopefully with them doing a PC port once and the recent remasters they fix that and make the game code frame rate agnostic

Also PC people get to put it up to 4k as well which should make some of the PC audience happy as well I guess :).

Like I said though, at least they came out with it before the release. No lying or hiding details until after release like we've seen before.

30fps is unfortunate, but I'm fine with this in general.
If it's not in the budget to rework the backend of the game, then it's not in the budget.
All we can do is hope that future games are developed with variable framerates in mind.
