CUT CONTENT FOR ZERO

Why are you saying it's cut content? The person who posted it said they made it themselves.

Maybe Ocelot overreacts.

Maybe when Ocelot's mother in law comes to visit, his wife tells him "hey, do not mention she has gained weight", and Ocelot just self hypnotizes into changing his perceptions of what's overweight and what is not.

You guys think maybe all of these "cut content" models are something we will see in MGO?

You'll prbly be able to purchase those with MB coins :p

So is there any other missions after 46 with story stuff? I skipped losing Quiet.

Nuclear disarmament cutscene.

Probably yeah. I think The Boss skin people found might be an outfit for female characters. But then I wonder would the game have MGO related files on PC right now?

Kaz might be a prick but he actually had a good story arc and VA (ignoring the fiddle). I actually would give him a fist pump for that end conversation when he tells Ocelot to fuck off he will train Solid to kill Boss because he is a cock

What, that's not cut content, that's someone on a graphics forum who is using the assets ripped from the game as a base to create new stuff. He even says he made it with new textures based on the Snake mesh.

I can't remember which mission it is but when he goes GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE on the radio I thought it was great.

Actually his character is fine. He is a cock but it makes sense that he is. Parts are missing from his arc but I'm fine with it.

The bigger issue is that Ocelot and Kaz are both reduced in prestige by operating as simple radio narrators. We should have had different radio operators to give the more mundane instructions. Perhaps an asian intel lady. Or a female medical team specialist. Or a nerdy male scientist for R&D input.

I don't think anyone knows how to get that yet, but Konami insist it's there somewhere. Most likely FOB/online related. But it ends with a V.Snake speech I think.

Oh well now. Feels like something's missing.

I guess I understand what all the complaints were about.

The Hell House mission. Yeah, I dug that moment.

Metal Gear Solid has always been reserved in having its characters swear. "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE" really felt like a 'Oh, shit' moment because of that.

It was better than when Laughing Octopus decided to drop the f-bomb, at least.

I would not be surprised if they did. Lots of games include files for things they might unlock later. Its not unheard of.

Every nuke on every FOB has to be disarmed so you will never see it naturally, just look it up on YouTube

I don't think that is the trigger because I don't think the servers work that way. More likely players are clustered together into groups, there's some sort of condition for number of nukes disarmed by a player, and disarming all nukes within a cluster or something before it plays. It's just a long term bonus thing for people engaging on the multiplayer element.

Well *places boot on crate* it all started, pardners, when our old friend Skull Face was hankering for some dirty deeds. Y'see, it was Zee-row who stopped him, and it was Zee-row who would... pay tha price. *snaps imaginary suspenders*

he sounds like a country lawyer telling a story to the jury
Haha. It's really too bad because baker probably could have done a much better job with the proper direction. He probably just saw the character model wearing cowboy boots and went to town. Such a waste.

Nah, didn't someone in the other thread say that Kojima actually asked him to do a voice more like Joel?

I wanted a tape like this with Sutherland, 'tis all i wanted. I guess hamburgers are a somewhat acceptable substitute.

The hamburger tapes are pretty good, but they're still pretty lackluster compared to the other games standard MGS humor.

Oh wow, Hayter's voice was fucking awful in this game.

Yeah hayter turned the Snake voice up from 11 to 19 for PW. He just didn't care to make a good performance and just took the role in a very whatever manner.

Yeah hayter was in total I dont give a fuck mode for PW.

This is why it is hard to take Hayter's passive aggression towards not being in V seriously. He just didn't do a very good job with PW.

One more question - Does Zero ever appear visually or is it just audio? I assumed audio since he seems to be mostly gone by the time you wake up.

Oh, and I haven't have a single word about Mantis, and who/what he is. I thought they would say something but it's not even clear if anyone but Eli can see him. Did I just miss it?

What I can't quite get my head around is the idea of perspective and how BB didn't deserve his bad reputation. I've read people saying it was Huey spreading lies but at the time of Metal Gear 1, BB had a good enough reputation to be in command of Foxhound and mission Intrude N3 so what rumors would he have spread if BB was still trusted? I guess it dances around Zero not being there anymore but even then I don't see how and why he was magically allowed to come back to FoxHound and lead a mission for Solid Snake.

It also leaves us with the whole Liquid snake being told by BB that he was inferior, since Phantom BB doesn't think Eli is a clone and real BB never interacted with him. It's also not clear if Phantom BB launches Outer Heaven as a revenge against real BB or something he thought BB would do. They basically both did the same thing for MEtal Gear 1 and 2, just at different times and the objectives seemed similar enough.
Major Zero appears exclusively in the 'truth' tapes post-Mission 46 as the end credits simply acknowledge his voice actor.

Ocelot speaks quite heavily about the young Psycho Mantis in several cassettes later in the game if I'm not mistaken. There's even a tape where he explains his psychogenic powers and outright states his abilities were triggered as a result of Big Boss/Venom Snake's awakening. Everyone can see him as it's stated somewhere, for example, that Skull Face convinced Mantis to join forces after his resurrection of Volgin disrupted XOF's assassination attempt in the prologue.

In regard to Huey, I don't believe it has been officially revealed what his actions were following his exile from Diamond Dogs. Miller simply speculations that he'll run around spreading negative word-of-mouth about their organization. It wouldn't be surprising if a future installment explores that he went back under the wing of The Patriots/Cipher to continue his Gear research. However, it stands right now, Ocelot's foreshadowing comes to fruition after he blends back into civilian society and, eventually, discovers that his son, Hal "Otacon" Emmerich, had an affair with his second wife. Perhaps in combination of guilt over his actions from MGSV and this marital revelation, he simply drowns himself in their home pool nearly taking his daughter, Emma, in the process. Big Boss and Miller folding back into Foxhound hasn't been officially explained either and I'm guessing that'll be baggage the next creative director will have to potentially flesh out. My speculation at the moment is that he probably wanted to his train his genetic clone, Solid Snake, into hunting down Venom Snake once the Outer Heaven Uprising goes down. He might've additionally rejoined the U.S. government to adhere to the famous Sun Tzu quotation, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer," as a means to remove the heat off exposing Zanzibar Land as his true master plan.

Even if Hayter was starting to falter as a decent voice for Snake, they still had Richard Doyle and John Cygan as perfectly good options.

Sutherland's voice isn't *awful*, but it does seemed to have hurt the game in the long run, that going for him rather than one of those guys (or even still sticking with Hayter) was definitely a mistake.

KOJIMA GIT DOWN! That's a Konami hitman... Stay low and crawl along the ground. That should enable you to sneak over to Tencent.

Morbid cynicism, but it gets results.

The one neat thing about 46 being a replay of the prologue is that, knowing what they tell you about Mantis, you actually catch that the radio playing after Big Boss and Venom Snake have been awake for a while is doing news coverage of the airplane crash where Mantis's power also manifested.

He's kind of supposed to sound extra raspy and miserable in 4 though.

I don't know if "supposed to" is the right word, when it was his idea to begin with, and Snake's japanese VA doesn't sound terribly different as Old Snake than he did before.

But the big issue with this is how forced it sounds, you can really hear it's just someone putting on an unconvincing voice.

And he's supposed to sound strange and evil for PW. I like how people blame Hayter for his work on the series, but no one blames Kris Zimmerman for the direction she gave the VA.
They blame hayter because he doesn't have talent to work with. Direction is most definitely a problem though and it is called out.
