PAL Charts - Week 38, 2015

Maybe I'm getting mixed up here, but isn't PCars going to support Morpheus?

The problem really is the framerate. Games cannot lose even a single frame in VR. PCars will probably be the choice for PC gamers; but as far as PSVR is concerned, GT7 is the best bet to deliver the goods, that is if it supports PSVR.

I highly, highly, doubt it. If the genre's in decline, then there's no way GT7 is going to reach that mark.

I highly, highly, doubt it'll be better in terms of Metacritic average.

Man you better pray you are right. If you are wrong your post is not going to be forgotten.

Was there ever any confirmed sales numbers for GT6 since that '2.5m' or whatever it was thread turned out to be bs? I'm interested to see where they eventually ended up.

Last I saw (checking with quick Google) was 2.37.

So really, really low for a mainline release vs 1 through 5 sales. I figure it's an outlier though due to the release coming after PS4 hit, GT6 just not looking like it really offered much more than GT5 (I mean in general perception not whether it actually did or not) and the huge swing to PS4 worldwide and in particular in PAL territories.

Long story short I struggle to believe it's any more than 2.5 million tops. I think I saw someone note it's not even listed on PD website anymore which would be telling.

I don't think this will affect GT7 that much though. So long as it's good I expect it to sell more in line with the rest of the franchise (I'm guessing 8 million or so given decrease in sales in some regions and likely smaller install base at launch but I can also see it hitting 10 million too if the launch timing is good and the title is good).

It's crazy how much people underestimate the GT franchise.

"Forza is doing bad so it must mean the genre is dying"

It really doesn't work like that.

Are people really comparing Forza with GT? The gap in relevancy is huge. It's like comparing PES with Fifa.

PES sales being underwhelming doesn't mean the genre is dying either. Fifa is going to obliterate.

GT attracts people who have no interest in racing games but are interested in real driving situations, aka me. I have never purchased another racing game except burnout and that was for action not racing.

question - why are there no combat racing games anymore? I always thought the added excitement meshed well with racing....

There are people out there wanting to make potentially great combat racing arcade games... People just aren't taking enough interest... http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1094214&page=1

Trying to claim that sim racers are done because of Forza's performance reminds me of when people were saying consoles were done after the Wii U flopped. Forza sells a fraction of what GT sells. With the PS4's popularity, a new GT will sell a ton. Forza will be bundled to hell and back and they'll get their 2-3 million.

The thing is that Gran Turismo 6 came out at a really weird time, so its sales aren't indicative of the current state of the franchise. As long as Kaz brings out a quality product in GT7, then it's definitely going to sell around 10 million.

GT is still a mainstream franchise, I don't know why people keep insisting on comparing it to Forza, here are GT Academy stats from last year, GT Academy saw HUGE viewership increase gained from Asia & The Middle East. GT Academy is by far the biggest "e-sport" in the world.

GT6 having such a big drop is another indicator. Generation chqange was always going to have an impact, but it's a surprisingly big drop for a franchise that's been consistently huge.

Anyone have figures for how COD Ghosts did on the PS3?

Not even surprised at the low Forza 6 sales. It's been a yearly franchise for the last 4 years and people in general won't really see the stylistic differences unless they take the time to analyze it.

Releasing a game so quickly so often will obviously lead to burnout. Just look at what happened with Need for Speed and what will soon happen to Assassin's Creed. I mean hell, even NFS isn't yearly anymore because of that issue.

Doubt this will change anything anyway. We'll see Forza Horizon 3 launch next fall with similar numbers probably.

Best wishes.

Do you have an example of that?

In my experience people are rarely fans of two similar sports unless they have a local franchise of the less liked sport but none of the preferred one.

Example, Canadian Football and American Football (NFL).
Yeah, I hear there's a huge overlap between Basketball and Netball fans.

What? Different rules makes them different sports, with completely different fan bases.
If there is that big of a difference between the two things, then probably not. I was thinking that people who like football/soccer would also like things like street soccer for example. No need for the "what?" :P I guess there are two different rugby games?

GT7 is going to be huge.

PS4 has an insane momentum in Europe, if PD manages to ship GT7 by the end of next year along side a PS4 Slim, it's going to be crazy.

I'm really excited to see the improvements GT7 will have over GT5 and 6. Sound has been the series' biggest weakness, but Polyphony did hire the former Forza audio lead, Mike Caviezel.

Thanks for the chart, but i was thinking more about if there are two different rugby video games:)

Ooops. Yeah, one's a Rugby Union game, the other's a Rugby League game. I doubt that many people in the South of England bought the Rugby League game. That one's more targeted at Australia and the North of England.

Well I think GT5 was also a mess from a navigational and content point of view. I thought it had lost its sense of what it used to be. Not sure how GT6 is.

At this point I don't really care how well any of the racing games sell. I just want GT7 to be a generational leap over 5 and 6. The series has grown awfully stagnant in terms of gameplay and improvements and Forza 6 is probably the best simcade racer I've played to date.

I DO think it would be in MS's best interest to have a 3rd racing game like Project Gotham reboot or a Rally Motorsport to give Forza Motorsport an "every 3 years" cycle.

(90%)

[Week 43, 2009] FORZA MOTORSPORT 3 (MICROSOFT) - 80,000 / NEW
[Week 41, 2011] FORZA MOTORSPORT 4 (MICROSOFT) - 105,700 / NEW

(95%)

XBO Forza Motorsport 6 >22,700 <38,100

XBO Forza Horizon 2 >37,700 <51,500

Damn what a decline. Perhaps the XBO's sales are affecting it.

Pretty much.

No. Rugby Union is the original sport, Rugby League and American Football are offshoots of it. Three similar but different sports with different ruling bodies, rules, fanbases and players.

Well, that explains Forza 3 and 4's numbers, though how did you guys get those sales ranges for Horizon 2 and Forza 6?

Edit: Actually, I think I understand what you're trying to say.

From knowing numbers for games which charted above and below them

Great sales for Destiny... over 65k for new players only is amazing.

Forza not so great maybe it is time to increase the time between releases.

Guess the Norway chart wont be updating either.
