Kojima
said is not 5, right?
Kojima said a lot of things. It's just another gimmick, honestly.
Because if Peace Walker was the real MGSV (as Kojima stated originally), why the hell Konami should promote the game as Peace Walker and not MGS5?
A numbered release attract way more people than a "spin-off" (I know it's not the case of PW, but people not into the saga could think about it as a spin-off).
Also releasing MGS5/PW, a major sequel, on a portable device and not a home console....there's no sense on this, really. At least by a financial point of view.
The above message for me it's just another gimmick, Kojima is not so deep as people want to think, honestly. This is Metal Gear Solid 5, the V in the title refers to a number of things, like the roman numeral of 5, since a lot of people like to use that version instead of arabic numeral. Or a reference to 1985 and ingsoc, since there's also a reference in one of the tapes. And as stated in this thread too, V means also Venom.
But the fact Kojima is trying to pass this chapter, Metal Gear Solid 5, as V (like if this is a spin-off), well, it's a gimmick for me. I think Kojima gives too much credit toward what people think about his games. People argued about cutscenes, he stripped them from MGSV.
People cried about mecha fights on PW, no mecha battles in V (well, no boss battles in V except in two istances, lol).
So probably people argued (yeah, people are arguing about MGSV, it's not a thing related to this thread only) about MGSV, and Kojima is trying to pass it as a spin-off.
At least this is what I think.
