then it doesn't make sense to make a twist about the player being a big boss
Look at Quiet. Do you really think Kojima cared about anything other than straight men playing this game?

He did have Kaz in a speedo and there is a gay overtone with snake and ocelot... But his direction with Quiet is disgusting and I wish there was an uproar about it.Look at Quiet. Do you really think Kojima cared about anything other than straight men playing this game?
That feel when chinner is the voice of reason amongst disillusioned metal gear fans.
That she needs more than 3 shots when you shoot her but is taken down in 3 when an enemy shoots her?
I wished after you finished mission 46, not only your avatar unlocks but the ability to make a female avatar as well. When you play as a female soldier you get still called "Boss" around Mother Base and by Kaz so it's not like it matters much.Yep.
It's a sucky, half thought out twist.
"You're Big Boss, as long as you're not a female", and how exclusionary that is, almost makes the 'you're Big Boss' twist not worth doing.

You beat me to it. Do you remember who his late sister/brother used to voice? I'm pretty sure it was a Pokemon.Every MGS fan should listen to this podcast with Jeremy Blaustein. Quality is amateurish as it was made by fans, but the content is great and Jeremy speaks 100% candidly about working on various Konami games like Snatcher, MGS and Silent Hill 2. Also talks about dealing with Kojima (topical, I guess).

Perhaps that's still possible, because MGO has a female avatar creator.
Mei Ling's accent veered into Breakfast at Tiffany's levels. I always hated it and I'm glad they changed it.

I loved both Mei Ling and Naomi's accents in MGS1I hate that they changed it for 4.
Why is someone like this so rare? You don't even need to be a translator to clean up the localizations and direct voice actors. Kojima needs a filter for so many of his ideas on paper.
You beat me to it. Do you remember who his late sister/brother used to voice? I'm pretty sure it was a Pokemon.
Seeing the result, I'd agree but regardless of its poor execution, I'm fairly certain he was proud of his twist as a fourth wall breaking closing statement. If anything, he put too much thought into the twist, ignoring how detrimental it was to an already average and disjointed story.i don't think kojima put much thought into anything aside from the gameplay to be honest

I mean sure, but she's already OP as hell in terms of helping you out on missions, you almost feel like you don't need to do anything when you bring her. They should've either nerf her as a whole or nothing at all.Maybe they did this to balance the gameplay? I don't see a problem here.

I'm better than Quiet. I can shoot an RPG right through a Hind's spinning rotors without damaging it at all.
I loved the voice work in the original. Felt like I was taking part in an interactive movie.
To be honest all I heard were characters, not accents.
That was until Twin Snakes, then I wanted my accents back, because after hearing 5 hours of codec conversations Those accents were apart of the characters.
You're the chosen one!
*you can hear a door unlocking somewhere.
I wish Kiefer had more chances to say goofy shit so I could evaluate that bit properly. That was always my favourite part of Hayter Snake; he could sound absurdly gruff and then effortlessly segue into talking about his quasi-sexual love of boxes in an instant.
The goofiest thing I've heard Kiefer say is ROCKET PAWNCH and HAIDARAAAAAAA which is, admittedly, pretty goofy. But I needed an extended monologue on some seriously goofy shit.
Damnit...now I gotta scour mother base for a blue door light.
Having let it sink in a bit more, I hope we get some kind of postmortem someday, just to see what the creative process was, because from the outside, it looks like they had a number of great story beats they wanted to hit, to the point they put them in trailers, and they were left afterwards with the task of giving a semblance of continuum between these moments. That's the part where they really screwed the pouch and we ended up with parasites, ellipses, tapes, filler missions and Skull Face being a farcical villain.
Typically, I love the post-mission 41 cutscene, it's genuinely well written, dark and poetic, tonally fitting but it's a shame it sits at the ass end of the game with no build up or follow up.

Use spoiler tags if you see Norman Reedus.![]()
I feel like Keifer is undoubtedly a better actor than Hayter, but between the new voice and all the script stuff and what with being an entirely different character, he just doesn't actually feel like Snake at all and I'm just playing gruffman mcgruff with a horn, so the twist was almost entirely wasted on me (though I would've enjoyed it more if Hayter was Ishmael)
In the ending Big Boss is talking to the player through the character, who was once a medic in MSF, a real character in the universe, not made by the players.
I saw him at the mall once. I said "Hey Daryl" and he waved.
I felt real dumb.
Mei Ling was American yeah? So her accent was pretty inaccurate (though not bad necessarily in that case). Never liked Naomi's accent change though![]()
The real Big Boss is a man, so it doesn't make sense to give the player a choice to make Venom a girl.
Please tell me there's more.
I'll take "shit tier" Hayter over mumbling, bored as hell Kiefer ten times out of ten.
Kiefer isn't terrible in TPP, he's worse than that, he's bland.
Oh, and about half the time he actually DID have lines, he manage to screw up intonation.
Then you have people that say the game is to fan service-y and was relying on older, better games lol. As for the Hayter and Keifer debate, I'm siding with Hayter because if people listen to interviews with Hayter he said that he was told to use that Old Snake voice. I mean, his Winter Soldier performance sounds like young snake.
He is, but usually his posts are dripping with sarcasm.chinner's always been the voice of reason
Oh wow yeah that's a solid spot and exactly 22 seconds faster.
I prefer my strat thougha bit more hilarious.
Even the tapes are kind of disappointing honestly, now that I've listened to them all there's only a handful that truly stand out.
- Skull Face interrogates Code Talker (the one with the bell, SF is amazing in this one)
- Paz last tape
- Hamburgers
- Strange Love final message
- "Truth" tapes are all very good, especially the one with Zero
- Some Code Talker tibits are good but drowned by wolbachia/maletofemale/copulation snoozefest
Compared to MGS2-3's optional codec calls it's pretty sad. And the myth that Venom tals a lot more in the tapes it's just that, a myth. It's true that in the first part he has something to say (not much compared to Ocelot and Miller but still), but after the Sahelanthropus speech he vanishes completely.
