E12 is the standard name for that type of bulb with a screw fitting. Do a Google search for "e12 led bulb" or similar.
 
How difficult is it to record/start a YouTube channel? Is there an OT for that?

I've had numerous people on GAF and elsewhere suggest I start one, mainly because I'm tend to pretty knowledgable about indie games.

But I tend to be more comfortable writing than speaking...

Mainly depends on what you wanna do with the channel. In the most basic terms, you would just record yourself playing the game with a capture card of some kind and then make the video/presentation around that.

I really have like zero editing or recording knowledge, my skills lie in learning about and writing about indie games. I'm pretty comfortable talking about games too, but the actual video making and recording part is completely alien to me

To be perfectly honest, this might be one of those rare occasions in this thread where the question is entirely suitable for its own thread. But relating to the channel business, first and foremost you would need some sort of focus before you go and start recording videos. Picture who your target audience would be, and try to gear the content towards them.

I would go more in-depth with this, but it's 2:30am where I am and I need rest. But you should totally make a thread about this! You'll get far more answers than what I'm giving you!
 
Why does my compute (Win7) say it can't find an antivirus program when I'm using MSE? Isn't MSE antivirus software?

Okay, I need help tracking something else down on GAF. This one's a little weirder.

I recently heard a story about a guy who likes to watch other guys plow his wife, then eat the creampie. That's weird, right? There can't be a lot of people that are into that, right? Well, somebody on GAF told a similar story, said this guy ask him to fuck his wife so he could eat the results. I can't really imagine a lot of people are out there doing that, so out of curiosity I wanted to see if the details from the GAFfer's story matched up with the one I just heard. I thought it might be in this thread, but I haven't been able to find it in there.
If anybody knows where that post is, or who posted it, let me know.
 
My girlfriend is studying abroad in Chicago right now and keeps getting approached by strangers who want to chat to her. Is this normal in America??

Depending on where you are in the states, it is not at all uncommon for strangers to strike up conversations with you.


Let's say you have the following equation: x^y = z
In this equation, x and y are both integers. Is there a term that describes z's relationship to x? For instance, 2^3 = 8. 8 is a multiple of 2, but it is a specific kind of multiple because it is 2 raised to a power. Is there a word for that?

Is she attractive? Then yes, people will talk to her.
In general, people on the street will sometimes spontaneously start talking to each other, but it depends on regional and local culture. In the south? Yes, it's going to happen. In New York? No, probably not.

Chicago doesn't seem like the kind of place that it would happen, but I've never been there.
 
Most of the devices in my house suddenly think we live in Italy. Any idea why this might be and how to fix it?

My laptop and iPhone are fine but the Mrs' laptop, her phone and my tablet all seem to think we're in Italy. Googles searches redirect straight to google.it, YouTube adverts are playing in Italian, Google Play Store is suggesting the Italian version of games to me

If I google "where am I" it thinks I'm in Sorrento, Italy which coincidentally is where we're getting married next year. Has my Mrs googled so much stuff to do with Sorrento that it now thinks our IP address is based there haha? I'm pretty sure that's not possible but can't think of a decent explanation for this! Any help/advice would be appreciated

It's mostly on campus, but even outside campus she gets it a lot. It's mostly black woman apparently.

Oh, black women are really forward in most places in the US. I think it comes from black church culture, just be friendly with people. It's also kind of a vestige of southern culture, most black people used to live in the south, so the culture there rubbed off on them. But since they've continued to be so segregated, there's also kind of an insular quality to the way the subculture has developed, and many aspects have been maintained even after diaspora into the rest of the country and relative integration into other communities.

Just tell her to be friendly, they're not likely to talk about anything too serious or overly heavy.

gonna try this in OT - so, my brother's setup is as follows:

Sony TV
PS3
Sonos
DirecTV

he says if he hooks up his PS3 directly to his TV (via HDMI) it works perfectly; if he runs it through said Sonos, he gets picture and no sound.

I need to get over there to troubleshoot but i'm not familiar with said Sonos - any ideas what might be going on? appreciate any help offered!
 
Guys, Amazon US delivery question: is it possible to have Amazon deliver something to my local US post office and pick it up myself (with driver license or other id)? Or do I always have to provide an address for them? I know it's possible in the UK but I haven't seen anything like that for US. Thanks!

Have it sent certified. You have to sign for it, if you don't answer when they come to he door, they take it back to the post office and leave you a note. You can then pick it up at the post office. If the package is large enough not to fit in your mail box, they'll probably do it anyway.
 
In 2011, a shink misdiagnosed me with schizophrenia instead of depression, and my mom choose to trust him over other doctors because he was her personal friend. So I was on powerful antipsychotics until early 2015.

The doctor admitted he fucked up in the end, and I'm off all the meds right now, and I want to know: did the medicines damage my brain? And is it temporary or permanent?

That question can't be answered without knowing the name and dose of each medicine. You should be able to look up common side effects yourself.

In the end, it might not matter. You can't change the past and if you have the correct diagnose today it should be easier for you to move on with your life.
 
If I've forgotten the password to a site, and the email I used to register no longer exists, I'm pretty screwed, huh? Short of being buddy buddy with a site admin, I don't have much recourse, right?

No number registered, and I don't think there was a security question because one hasn't been offered. I did submit a query to the site support. It's probably too early in the day so I don't expect any immediate response. Just wondering if I am screwed if they don't have a security question.

I had a similar problem on this site, but bishtopl helped me out. Maybe just contact the admin and see what can be done.

There's a thread on NeoGAF for people to post selfies, etc. I tried searching using the forum search and using Google but couldn't find it. Has it been deleted or am I stupid?

Ok i'm having wifi issues and I believe it's because Comcast is throttling my speeds. So my house is a fairly decent size and my wifi has to travel through 3 "living room size" rooms before it gets to my ps4. So i decide to buy a repeater that I set up in the "2nd living room" so that I can get better coverage throughout the entire house.

I pay for 100mbps and when wired I assume that's what I get but I know that when using wifi things conflict with it to lower speeds. With that being said when i'm home alone I can usually get 8-9mbps can that seems to run destiny just fine without lag and glitches. The problems start when my family gets home 3-5pm and Ipad, computer, wiiu running netflix, 2 other ps4s, cell phones etc start jumping into the network. At this point i'm dropping down to 1.5 and sometimes even kbps believe it or not.

My question is how can I boost my speeds other than moving my ps4? Should I change the channel or open ports (whatever that means). Playing is becoming extremely difficult after getting off work so any help would be appreciated.
 
Had a question about PayPal and linking a bank account

I thought you'd need to use your routing number and such to link but I only needed to use bank online email/etc. to link my bank to PayPal

How does transferring and withdrawing money work if PayPal doesn't have the routing number and that info?

Is the static energy from a cat enough to fuck up an external HD? My girlfriend's cat was playing near it all last night and now it's dead. Checked the cords and there are no bite marks.
 
I saw this particular ornament when I was a kid but don't exactly know what it's called so could never find it on amazon and such. It was an ornament of a bird, pretty solid feeling but the whole weight was distributed on its beak which made for a neat optical illusion when you place it on hard surface from its beak. Anyone can name it or a link to where I can purchase it?
 
I recently got a cheap bluetooth headset because the reviews seemed good-ish but after getting them, there is an incessant background buzzing sound when using the BT connection. It was cheap so I didn't expect it to be great but AFAIK none of the reviews mention this very distracting hum, with some even mentioning how great the sound is, which makes me believe it's something on my end. It's only when using BT, so I thought it could interference but even going outside, supposedly away from other possible BT sources doesn't seem to have any effect. At this point I'm just worried it's just an inherent problem of my setup on my PC, phone, and/or home that wouldn't be fixed with higher quality BT headphones. Is there something I'm missing or better yet a common solution to this?
 
Anyone having issues with Youtube? Works fine on my iPad and iPhone but on my laptop (Wndows 8.1), videos freezes at 0:00, won't play
Any fixes for that?
Edit: nvm, restarted my laptop and everything's working properly

Guys, please help. I'm at the end of my rope. After all day trying to get T-mobile to activate the Walmart sim card starter set I bought off walmart.com it is finally activated! WHERE THE FUCK IS THE CODE ON THE PACKAGING WITH MY $30 credit? I can't find it ANYWHERE.

I'm losing my shit and this has ruined my day.

I bought some cheap aux cables to play music off my phone through my home theater receiver, but they don't seem to work with my phone. I tried plugging an old MP3 player in with the cable and it worked fine. The thing with the phone is that it can detect when headphones are plugged in, and will even pop up a little quickstart bar with various apps that would likely be used with headphones. It won't even do that for this cable. Anyone know why such a cable would work with a very old audio player but not a newer phone?
