SPECTRE theme song released - Writing's On The Wall by Sam Smith

Worst thing about the song is the ending. No build up to anything, just cuts out. Goldfinger, Skyfall, YOLT even Another Way to Die build to a crescendo. This just ends, leaving you underwhelmed.

179899403]Yo, that Duran Duran theme was dope.

After Adele's take last time around, anything following was likely to pale in comparison. Not a fan of the ballad thing this new theme's got going on. Sounds more like something played in the credits. Not too bothered though. However, and this is just personal taste, but the last Bond movies that had good themes were also the better movies (Casino Royale and Skyfall). Interesting to see where Spectre falls.[/QUOTE]

A View to a Kill is the bomb.

Casino Royale's theme maintains the throne.

I realize what this reminds me of now.. .Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive"! And that's obviously a great thing. Some ridic disco elements in the delivery.

Well, it's time to retire Another Way to Die as worse James Bond theme song under Daniel Craig's tenure.

Maybe.... the opening credits will salvage this? Probably not.

After listening to it twice, it's already in the bottom tier Bond theme songs. Wonder how much lower it goes in my ranking.

He was said to have taken 20 minutes writing this. And it shows; 5 minutes on the actual song and the other 15 procrastinating with a coffee and cigarette...

It's not very good, is it?

The instrumentation is very familiar, but the structure of it seems pretty unusual for a Bond theme. Will need a few more listens.

I'm not a fan of Sam Smith, but I really don't like this at all. There's not really anything interesting about the song; it's just boring.
The orchestra sounds like a Bond theme, but it's just there. Hopefully the film'll be good though.

Sounds like a classic bond song at the start and then downhill from there.

This.

And this.

It's not the worst thing ever but I'm not really a fan of it after the initial listen. Then again, I don't care about Bond themes as much as some people do. Apparently some people take it very seriously, haha. I think this sounds kind of okay except for when he's doing the super high pitched voice thing. But maybe that's normal for Sam Smith? I haven't listened to too much of his music.

Not awful, not great. But it would have been hard to top Skyfall so it's no big surprise. All I really care about is that the movie itself is good. The intro song doesn't affect my enjoyment of the film much.

I still prefere 'You Know My Name' from Cornell as the best Bond theme.

I'll wait for the opening credits to see if that match with the mood of the movie.

I don't... hate it like I thought I might, because I'm not a huge fan of Sam Smith. The chorus doesn't sound Bond enough for me? I dunno, there's something about it that's not clicking. It's just a love song but then again so was Nobody Does It Better tbf.

I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as most of the later Roger Moore themes or the Brosnan theme's sans Goldeneye.

I dunno, I LOVE Tomorrow Never Dies, those vocals.

Still waiting for a theme to surpass "A View To A Kill."

Can't believe they gave a Bond theme to Duran fucking Duran.
Fun fact: it's still the only Bond theme to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Loved it. The movie itself was terrible, though (even though I enjoyed the idea of Christopher Walken as a Bond villain).
Bad? No, I wouldn't say that. The music is nice enough and there's nothing I can particularly fault it for... Except...

Is it bland? Yes. Very. Extremely forgettable, and I don't even think an exceptional credit sequence can change that. Ah well.

Still think they should have went with Muse.
Yeah, I've heard worse (All Time High and Another Way to Die come to mind), but bland definitely fits. I also would've preferred Muse, with this in particular from their last album having influenced that opinion.

Sans GoldenEye? I'll take GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World Is Not Enough over this without a second thought.

Knows what's up.

I think an instrumental version would be dope! the fking vocals...especially the chorus just ruins it! what a let down.

Chris Cornell...Adele...to this? Would have loved to hear a Bruno Mars take on a new Bond theme, bet he would kill it

Fuckit, if he'd have done it it would've spiced things up a little.

Supremacy was the one that did it for me, there were some bits I thought sounded really Bond.

not tag worthy
I really like that , reminds me of the theme tunes of old.. Really bombastic and dramatic .. Yeah I think spectre is going to try and capture classic bond but with a modern slant ,

Ever since I found out they tried to get David Bowie for that role and he said no I was sad.

Another Way to Die was... A thing haha. I wanted to like it so much (especially since Jack White), but man. Eesh. (also, the music video's budget was definitely a $15 Subway gift card, wtf lol)

And yeah, Dead Inside is another good one.

So much hate for Another Way to Die.

I liked it, a good mix of innovation and classic Bond tropes, just like the movie. But also just like the movie, most people just want the same thing over and over instead.

Also dat Woolly Mammoth guitar pedal sound.

I mean it wasn't bad, didn't really grab me. There isn't that big ooomph moment.

I'm sure it will grow on me though.
