Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Wow, the only body types are "Feminine" and "Masculine." No height or weight changes.

Ugh. What? I guess this is really barebones.

I'm gonna be really disappointed if they don't patch this to at least match RB3 options (in every mode).
Creating custom bands with varying looks was one of the things I really enjoyed.

Their second I think. I know many people who consider U2's first album their best, so that was a pretty good pick.
First single was Out of Control which was on a 3 song disc then the Album came out and I will follow was the lead single even though Out of Control was also on the album.

Well that means U2 songs are the last ones then, surely we would have heard about anything else if there was. Since the copies are out there now.

Wonder if the RB store shows anything interesting.

Kind of a random question but I figure someone here might know. Can you customize your band members looks individually or does it just go by whoever signs into Xbox Live and their avatar? Kind of hoping for the former so you can get a whole band looking however you want it to.

And then one person on this page says there are lots of character customization options and another person says it's barebones. So who knows how it'll go anyway. lol

You can change your character, but I haven't seen an option to assign bandmates yet. It might be there, but I haven't seen it.

There might be a lot of clothing options, but the body options are barebones.

lame, they better get more in there at some point as while I can understand it not being a focus for a platform launch, it better be a focus at some point as how your band looks is pretty damn important.

ill still be getting this day 1 though as the main thing I want is the updated vocals and harmonies.

lack of body options is always sad.... I just want something along the lines of the saint's row character editor :(

The reviewer with a copy says the store isn't up yet, so unfortunately, no luck getting any information off of that just yet.

No practice mode should be an issue, but given that RB3 booted me back to the XMB nearly every time that I tried to use it it doesn't feel like as much of a loss as it could be.

so the sorting options are there in this game from rock band 3 in quick play correct? i read on another forum someone saying he/she didn't see any way to sort the songs while in quick play.

2015 and guitar straps still don't exist.

Meh, it's slightly annoying, but I imagine that feature would cause more bugs than it's worth. Considering all the character customization with varied body and shoulder sizes, it probably would have just clipped through most costumes and looked bad.

Seems that the day 1 release will be pretty barebones and them adding more features will be dependant on how successful the game is.

I'm just crossing my fingers that it sells well enough to allow for it to truly be a "platform" that gets semi-frequent updates and DLC.

At the very worst, I now have a guaranteed way to play my Rock Band legacy DLC/exports for another console generation.

I really don't like the idea of RB4 being a crowdfunding game. There is zero excuse for this game being full price and missing on many basic core features that every single other Rock Band game had.

You mean besides the fact that it's the first game in the series without a major publisher behind it?

And that music games aren't close to as popular as they once were.

I understand why people would be shocked to see missing features, but those sound like very good financial reasons for Harmonix to trim less used features that could cost excessive amounts of resources to implement and debug.

Having said that, it is kind of sad to see. Game sales seem directly linked to metacritic scores, and reviewers often mark down games for missing features. Cutting stuff that was previously in the game does not seem like a recipe to rejuvenate a dormant series and genre.

oh god... way to remind me about Tool.

how the fuck do we not have any. come on harmonix! sell your souls! (again)

The fact that Guitar Hero 4 was the only game to feature Tool, that Tool put in a bunch of effort artistically to create a cool background, and that it was technically hampered by shoddy production values on Neversoft's end, is a huge bummer. Tool needs to be in Rock Band, I wish Harmonix would go out of their way to make that happen, even if it meant creating a custom backdrop.

The guy streaming right now just showed us sorting in quickplay, it's there.

Is practice mode something that requires big $$$? I can see online play, but something like practice mode seems trivial to include.

It could potentially be a huge engineering, testing, and debugging effort. Remember that every single song, including all the DLC would likely need to be tested, debugged, and supported. Harmonix is likely already swamped, just getting all the existing songs and backwards compatible DLC to function. Perhaps if we support the game, they will find a way to include it.

And if you remember, you could only play their songs on the stage they created, with, and I may be wrong, no band showing. It was essentially a visualizer.

If you think about it, they don't really licence their music for anything.

all the tools they built for Beatles' crazy backgrounds would be perfect for that shit too. argh!

to be fair, tool is on the level of deserving their own game or full album dlc imo

Yup, Tool isn't really a bandwagon band, but I think Harmonix did something special with plastic Guitar games. They are a company that seems to have a huge amount of integrity and a ton of genuine musical and artistic knowledge. The game can straight up teach a person how to play drums, or how to sing, that's worth supporting in my book. I think if Tool knew more about it, they would hopefully be more interested in getting into Rock Band.

I'm totally cool with their songs being played on top of a cool Tool-like Visualizer too.

Damn rights they are. I wish they would go full out like that, even if it was just a DLC expansion.

That's how I'm looking at it too. I'm buying in for the ability to keep playing the tracks I already own, and for the possibility of them offering new music again. I hope the RB music platform works out for them.

Plus I desperately needed a replacement guitar and drums, and the used market for peripherals is still insane. I'm still using my RB2 strat and its really dinged up.

I'm sure they know about it, they chose guitar hero, likely for the $, but they had to be played on a terrible tool inspired visualizer. Shit looked like amateur hour for 3D effects artists.
