Anyone having trouble with mission 9, backup back down? I'm looking for the 6th prisoner in between outposts 12 and 15 in the mountain trail. I find the 4 soldiers looking for him, but I can't find the prisoner. I've run up and down that trailer with D-Dog 5 times and nothing comes up. I've extracted the other 5 and the mission task won't pop up as complete. Is this a common glitch or what?

This should help.

You sure they didn't just kill him? As soon as they catch up with the prisoner they'll shoot him.

Is there any new information regarding what requirements must be met to get the 4th hidden ending with nuclear disarmament? Is it as crazy as people believed, ie "remove all nukes worldwide from the game"?

Thats some crazy awesomeness if you ask me. The Boss's will carries on in a meta-game fashion.

Seems so, the ending is on youtube if you want to watch it.

It's anyone's guess, really. There is no mention of it in the strategy guide, but given the context of the cutscene it indeed appears to happen when all FOB nukes are disarmed.

Which is of course never, ever going to happen. But the idea is interesting.

To me this secret thing is simply genius.... I was shocked when I found out/saw it. I cant even put in proper words how "beautiful" it is as msg to the world.

Kojima transends the videogame and the player into reality.

This ending is very easy to unlock. The requirements are simple. Dont build a nuke. Or, if you have one, destroy it.

It is simple. It is just the press of a button. A button that not all will press. Just like in reality. Pressing a button for a good cause is something a lot of people wont do. Out of spite, out of hate or out of fear, the human nature itself will prevent it..

I cant express how smart and beautiful this is. Its the msg Kojima tried to embed in players minds throughout his Saga. He created an ending knowing very well that human nature will prevent it from ever being unlocked legitimately. And he knew ofcourse it would surface in youtube, so that people/gamers will witness the irony. No movie could ever depict this in a better way. In the videogame you have the option to change the world. But that's not enough.

I take a long bow for Kojima san. He is the man.

Still a shit think to do, he could have had it just be a random and actually unlock able cutscene and not an ending. Oh well we will just have to accept Kojima really did go batshit insane.

That would have missed the entire point this scene was trying to make...

Got the cutscene where Eli gets reckt by Ocelot which gave me some thoughts.

1) Why do these kids follow Eli? Like yeah he's stronger than them, but he's also a huge jerk and murdered one of them. These kids are dumb.

2) Diamond Dogs are useless. We are running a base of people who can't take down one 12 year old.

3) I can only assume it's Kaz who let Eli run around doing whatever. Yeah he'll lock Quiet up but let the kid with anger problems run around with a machete. Kaz pls.

I thought the same for a while tbh. But I resolved it with some of the tapes — Kaz can't accept Quiet because she is Cipher and his hate for them has pretty much been what's kept him going for the last 9 years etc. Additionally Snake is lenient towards her which is also burning him because they are meant to be BFF's but it make Kaz feel like Snake doesn't share the urge for revenge that Kaz does.

As for Eli (and the other kids), Kaz has his own childhood issues with how the adults treated him as a kid. He feels like maybe he might have been different if he grew up with adults that weren't shitty to him so he doesn't want the kids to go through the same thing etc.

I also suspect that Eli is saying things to him that's stirring stuff up between him and Snake but that's just speculation (no tapes to confirm it)

Yeah, I'm going to the point where the prisoner is supposed to be, but no dice.

When I found the soldiers they were pulling out their flashlights and searching the area as if they hadn't found him. I also didn't see a dead body.
Grab D-dog and a jeep land near lamar khate grab 1st prisoner, then drive/ walk to where the 4 soldiers are, neutralize them and keep going up, the prisoner will be there.

Go back destroy / fulton one vehicle and then rescue the rest of the prisoners.
Edit: Avoid alerts as that triggers prisoners dying, also rescue the jeep prisoner.

This is great. It took me a moment to work out how this person did this.

If I understand correctly, he or she probably knocked out and dragged the guards to that cliff, woke them up one by one and then did a hold-up, and then when they were all standing with their arms up, proceeded to blow up them and their vehicle, lol.

I beat missions 30 and 31 last night. The jeep conversation is just shameful all around. Like, I heard it was pretty bad, but actually sitting through it is something else. I don't know if I even want to bother with chapter 2.

Seems many in here have the bar set too high for a MGS game (really the whole arsenal gear part is... well...).
That said the jeep scene doesnt work, you dont know who the fuck SF is, yet he goes "I know you from Langley",then goes on a rant about Zero and finally unveils his very fucked up plan, then shuts up and the music goes on and on.
You either have to dig too deep (SF) or not deep enough (Eli) to understand the emotions of the pixels on the screen. The whole jeep scene, SF doesnt seem like a vengeful guy to me, the voice is flat during the whole trip.

And still, I'd take jeep scenes over Quiet scenes anyday.

The tapes do explain most stuff (listening before mission 31) maybe its way the story doest not feel diaconnected to me, though I felt more urge to dispose of bombs in big shell, than I am of stopping Skull Face.

You can't be saving animals and have a desire to see the world burn with the way chapter 1 is laid out.
Venom a.k.a. Big Bossa chillest mofo in the Zaire border

the jeep scene is hilarious because it's some bond villain level of LOOK AT HOW FUCKED YOU ARE and then everything immediately goes to shit for skullface and man on fire gets stomped to death

Yeah that's what I really liked, how it played with your expectations.

Sneaking through a large area to a fortress and expecting a boss fight at the top? Nope, prepare for a walk and calm conversation followed by a jeep ride.

Expecting to reach your destination and then take on Skull Face and XOF? Nope, watch Skull Face get screwed.

I love how Skullator's troops just decide to pick him up by his armpits and carry him out backwards, it must be a regular problem for him.

Exactly.

I think I had a dream last night that I was able to push the game beyond 100%. For all its flaws, MGSV created a new space within my soul that is now left empty, and I'm not quite sure what to do with it. I've put 160+ hours into it, but I still kind of really want more. At least I can watch Metal Gear Scanlon unfold.

Edit: I actually went back and did a couple of missions subsistance-style, even turning off enemy markings and the crosshair to make it more bare bones. I would have really liked a mode like that for the full game, barring perhaps the Sahalantropus mission.

What I love is that Skull Face comes across as kind of put upon when Snake approaches him. Like he had opera tickets or something and Snake showed up just as they were leaving.

His bodyguards are aggressive obviously but he's like "FINE WHATEVER ILL SHOW YOU MY END GAME. IT'S NOT LIKE I HAD PLANS OR ANYTHING. WHATEVER".

Man imagining Skull Face as Zero's hilariously put-upon servant like he was in a Disney Movie or something is doing wonders for my urge to replay missions and recontextualise it all
