Great "I told you so" speech Obama. Good job on making it about guns and not the actual victims or families.

Is that sarcasm? :)

WTF is he supposed to say? "I feel bad for you. Too bad there's nothing that can be done about this. Talk to you in a month when it happens again. Peace!"

And the celebrations?

For clarification in case you're worried about your precious site, I'm talking about the members and not the site itself.

'My precious site' lol all i care about is the media not trying to blame it on a website and ignore the bigger issues at hand.

I really liked what Obama had to say. Very down to earth and to the point. He was obviously pissed off that it happened, and is tired of these shootings going on. He said what needed to be said, I just wish people would listen.

Obama really seems tired of this shit

When you are one of the most powerful people in the world and have to stand by powerless as watch mass shooting after mass shooting happens; I'm sure it gets to you.

Yes, a true leader would make no attempt to root out the underlying cause of the historic string of mass murder that this country has endured. His primary goal should be to appear humble and not challenge anybody or anything. Times of crisis require absolute silence from leaders, it's the only way to assure that no feelings are hurt.

for those wondering what Obama was talking about when he said other countries responded to mass shootings

1996 shooting at Dunblane. 16 children and 1 teacher killed. The UK banned handguns after that.

it works.

edit: wrong thread but I'm leaving it here.

Well unfortunately the stuff on the board revolving around this shooting is highly visible and disgusting, so it will be part of the media conversation. Gun lobbyists and ignorant citizens prevent it from going much further.

All he did was post on there before the incident. That site has nothing to do with his actions.

There were people who egged him on, but it's more than likely none of them actually believed him. Same when someone posts on /v/ claiming to work for Sony or Bioware. Nobody actually believes them and posts ridiculous responses.

However their reaction to his actually following through is just bizarre. I've never gone to that board, but from the look of that archive, the vast majority of posters there are total arseholes.

Sadly you're right. My Facebook feed is already filling up with bullshit from my right wing (soon to be ex) friends.

I live in Baton Rouge(one of the loosest gun law states in the country. Ironically with a gun death rate worse then Mexico to go with it) so if I didn't look past some of the people I associate withs views on guns I would be a pretty hated person around here.

If the campus actually allowed people to have guns to protect themselves, this probably wouldn't have hap-

NCSL said:
Students who have proper paperwork are allowed to carry guns on campus. Oregon is one of seven states where lawmakers have said people with concealed weapons permits must be allowed to bring concealed weapons onto campus.

Oh. (But UU may have a no weapons policy so nm)

NY Times says he allegedly asked a classroom to stand up and have people state their religion before opening fire.

Come on, I'm not trying to say he was actually a normal dude, but in the context she was using, she made it sound like having a Youtube account and a Snapchat was some bizarre behavior.

You can see the "should we allow ANONYMITY on the internet?" story slowly forming over the course of this CNN program...

That's fucking ridiculous. How many more people must die before gun laws receive major reforms?

You can see the "should we allow ANONYMITY on the internet?" story slowly forming over the course of this CNN program...

Yep because the problem is never because of the abundance of guns or the ease of access to them.

Thoughts are with you America.

Sadly, I can see a day when every person in America will personally know a victim of gun crime...

Same deal with the Port Arthur massacre in Australia in 1996. Roughly 1 mass shooting a year in Australia in the ten years before 1996. Guns laws enacted. Hasn't been one since.

Leave it to the mainstream media to consistently miss the mark of where the discussion should be. Anonymity on the internet wouldn't of prevented or lessened the death toll at Sandy Hook or Columbine....tougher gun laws probably would of.

Until they can get solid information, they are going to harp the same rhetoric they have on hand. During the Boston Marathon incident, I was basically drowned in nonstop coverage of everything for weeks. Becomes immensely depressing fast.

I'm getting a shot. Anyone else want in?

I really don't know what to say anymore. I mean I could be outraged and demand gun control laws, but what's the point? Nothing will happen. Nothing will change. At this point, the only I can think is the sooner I get out of this country, the better.
