Man, Obama was PISSED! I'm glad that he's stopped pussyfooting around the real problem and has gone all out in placing the blame solely where it belongs. I didn't get to hear it all though, it got cut off (I don't remember if it was NPR or the BBC that I was listening to, but whichever it was cut it off early).

Yeah, i personally hate those stupid arguments. X amount of people die in car crashes. Y amount of people die from cancer. Yeah, thats right. Thats why we fucking try and invest in ways to prevent those deaths: drug therapy, seatbelt, safety standards, nutrition research, self-driving cars. Why shouldn't we do that for guns too???

That's such a load of nonsense. It could easily just be someone who saw others do the same (since it has happened before) and he wanted to have that same infamy. It's not hard to follow the tropes of 4chan via other sites like reddit and imgur, and as shown time and again 4chan ends up with all kinds of people on their whether truthful or trolling
If you make the primary tools they use to carry out those fucked up acts of violence much harder to access and obtain, you can go a long way to stopping lots of these tragedies.

The problem is the people who quote Benjamin Franklin thinking they're being patriotic by parroting some centuries old sentiment and applying it to a completely different situation today. This isn't a bumper sticker issue.

Mental illness is actually the root cause, but not specific to the murderers. It's voters who are filling Congress with people who do not know right from wrong and who do not work in the best interests of the people.

Yeah, you guys are right. I guess I'm just pissed off that he can't get anything passed because of filibusters and the like. I don't even follow politics anymore because it's too frustrating.
Nah, I just don't want to spend more money and was planning on buying this or next week. Now if people are like, "Obama is gonna take our guns! Arm up!!!" prices sky rocket and my normal purchase becomes a more expensive transaction. Not not gonna spend an extra few bucks when I don't have to right now.

Hundreds of millions of people who live in Europe and Canada and Australia etc... know it's dumb and watch in horror as these mass shootings keep occuring month after month while the majority of the american population goes into crazy mode " Don't take my guns !! ... Every. Country. In. The. World. that banned guns saw a steep decline of deaths caused by guns. It's so maddening that people refuse that and will be prompt to tell you how " criminals will always find a way to buy guns ". Yes yes yes, it's true. It's already the case in Europe. Gangs always find a way to buy guns but it's SUPER hard for them to do so and they tend to only kill each others. It's really really rare to hear about murders committed by criminals on innocent civilians who had 0 ties to drug cartels. The only deaths caused by deaths are in the hands of fathers who kill their wife/kids then kill themselves because yes guns aren't completely banned in most european countries. You can still get one. It's just really hard. So most who want to shoot themselves use hunting rifles. And a lot of shopkeepers still own guns for protection. Again just look at the data from France, Germany, UK, Australia etc...
At the end I think that people just want to keep their toys. There's nothing more to it than that. Shooting guns is fun. I get it. But no one wants to get rid of their hobby. They can do it the swiss way : you have to keep your guns in a special safe (at the police station for example) and when you want to go hunt or shoot for fun you have to go there and sign a form then take it back when you're done. But I guess it's too much hassle and you can't fulfill those fantasies ... They want to keep their fantasies where they witness a shooting and come a blasing like fucking Rambo, shooting the bad guys and saving the damsel in distress. That fucking hero complex that is and will always remain a stupid fantasy. But they have to be ready because you never know uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh Tomorrow might be their day !!

Of course it is. So what if you have a handgun or even an AR-15 or other assault rifle, it's the government, if it wanted to squash the population, the population and it's guns aren't going to stop it. They have tanks, and drones, and fighter jets and any number of other things normal people don't have access to. Let alone the fact that the US government wouldn't do that. The americans that hold on to the second amendment like a security blanket are insane. They have some hero fantasy that they want to stop the big bad government from taking over as if they could ever stand a chance. It is by far the stupidest amendment you have and it's the one that has causes the most deaths among americans.

Yeah, it happened several times. I remember one time it was a kid from central europe posting a thread to his specific school, it was immediately reported and the kid was arrested the morning after and the school closed just in case.
