Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki) getting Limited Edition

Are you guys getting the PS3 version or Vita version? I'm conflicted now that I see Best Buy doesn't have the Vita Lionheart edition.

PS3 version seems to be the game that will run smoother, but I got the Vita version so I can play it anywhere in the house.

I noticed that Amazon UK have changed their CS release date to 26/1 now. I know these are placeholders but it definitely suggests a delay.

Can't say I'm disappointed though as I have too much to play coming out soon and definitely want to play SC first.

For those wondering why the "placeholder" date was changed for both the US and EU.

Hate to say it, but that's a placeholder date -- we have not yet announced an actual release date for the game, and I'm fairly certain that when we do, November 17th won't be it.

Never trust a date for one of our games unless we announce it via press release!

Sorry if the GameStop listing got your hopes up.

This was said several days ago. Take from it what you will, but it does seem like it was going to be pushed.

Tom said November 17th was almost certainly not going to be the date. I got the impression it would be sometime after that. 2016 would be kind of surprising but we'll see. (Edit: beaten)

Should hear something this month, Brittney mentioned having made a trailer that will probably be put out in the next couple weeks.

I personally prefer a later date than December, so this way I can better distribute my game purchases. November is a terrible month for me.

It makes sense that the November date would be inaccurate. They still insist that SC is on track to be released "well before Cold Steel" but Nov 17th is barely more than a month away. I mean, "well before" is a bit vague and up to interpretation, I suppose. But a single month seems way too close to me.

Honestly, I kinda hope it ends up being an early 2016 release. School is kicking my ass right now so it's basically pointless for me to even think about trying to tackle a game like SC until Christmas break. Cold Steel can definitely wait.

So this might not come out this year if Play Asia are to be believed. Got an order update that this will come out in January 2016.

Yep, XSeed said on their FB page they won't be able to do November.
What a shame, nothing I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year now.

Again, we haven't given a release date yet, so anything you see online is placeholder.

And as far as I'm aware, this game is still on track for a 2015 release. Granted, that could've changed sometime in the last few days... but if so, it's news to me!

Thanks for the heads up.

Do you know whether the UK date will be the same week as US (whatever that turns out to be) or is there likely to be a larger difference? Doesn't affect my excitement to play this, just curious.

When are you going to announce the date for this and SC? Both are still 2015?

Like he said, they're both still on track for 2015, unless he hasn't been informed. Also, he doesn't know when it will be announced as it's still not ready yet as any date mentioned may be subject to change unless they give an official announcement.

Well, he used to say the game was to be released "this Summer", a few days before it was delayed indefinitely.

When a pattern repeats so many times one cannot pretend to be surprised.

Well, he used to say the game was to be released "this Summer", a few days before it was delayed indefinitely.

The problem with patterns is that they assume the same conditions are present at all times. But obviously, when working on a video game, that's not the case -- completion draws nearer as time marches on.

Both Trails SC and Cold Steel are more or less complete now. SC is in master, and Cold Steel is nearing the end of its QA cycle.

Our estimates are going to be more and more accurate as the end draws near. Think of it like those "Time remaining" estimates given by Windows programs -- at first, the "Time remaining" number is pretty much useless, but as it goes along, it starts to become more consistent and much more reliable.

Best Buy says December 15th. Still a placeholder, but it seems reasonable if November is out of the cards and it's not currently expected to slip to next year.

Pardon me for jumping on this like a drowning person to a liferaft, but:

SC is finally out of QA Hell? Really and for true?

He first mentioned that a few weeks ago or so. It could, maybe, possibly be out this month.

I'm not making any guesses or estimations though because it will come out next summer or later if I do.

I don't think it'll ever TRULY be out of QA hell -- I imagine we'll continue finding little sniggly issues long after launch, and fixing them via patch on the PC version -- but yeah, our for-reals QA process is over and the game is in master testing.

The goal is nigh!

This little glimmer of hope just made my weekend.

Wait, is there a Cold Steel PC version or this in reference to something else? =O

I can't believe that it's finally happening.

Is this game any good?

Guaranteed to be better than Marie

This appears to be a definitive statement. Alerting the Murphy authorities asap

In all seriousness, here's to a bug-free PC launch.

Just to be clear, when I say the game is in master testing, I'm referring to the PSP version. PC games don't really have a "master testing" phase -- not an official one, anyway. You just release 'em when they're ready. (Or even sometimes before! But that's not something we plan on doing.) ;)

Also, yes, I was referring to Trails SC, not Cold Steel. Cold Steel is still in QA. Trails SC is much closer to release.

Amazing news! Does this mean that the PSP version is closer to being able to drop between it and the PC version? (assuming nothing big pops up in the testing...shaky assumption to make I know :P) IIRC I think you said that at this point Xseed was going to release both versions as they were ready instead of at the same time, correct?

Ok , good to know. Guess I better finish of FC then.

Awesome news, Tom! Just put up that preorder page and you'll get what's coming to ya. ;]

Hmm I don't remember what XSEED do but a lot of companies prefer to not let people pre-order because those sales don't count towards the top sellers list, and that's important advertisement. Unless the game is AAA and it's guaranteed to stay there a while it's better to open the store page but not allow the people to pre-order. In any case, pretty sure they already have a steam sub and have been working on it for a while. .

Plus if they do like last time then the game will probably have a first-buyers discount period of a week(I think it was 10% last time). So any major pre-order benefits would still carry in.

I never understand why people damand digital pre-orders

And yeah I think it's possible that niche games don't even benefit from it and it takes away sales momentum. And you can't even "trick" people into buying through hype anymore since Steam has refunds now

No, our plan is pretty much to release them simultaneously. If the two versions were worlds apart, such that releasing simultaneously would delay one of them considerably, then we probably would stagger the releases -- but fortunately, it worked out that the PSP and PC versions kind of followed the same basic path to completion, and the PC version should be ready to drop right around the same time the PSP version leaves master testing.

Oh! Well considering that the PC version is the one I plan to purchase, that's even better news! I'll look forward to hearing more as usual.
