Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

+1 for Sideswipe. This just makes me want to replay Rising and Bayonetta 2 really badly.

Yea cause Sideswipe is the closest to a DMC like character, his L1/LB can teleport up to an enemy or out of danger, plus his swords.

Team Optimus over here though, this is Transformers!

Sideswipe is my dude, but for the endgame, I had to pick Optimus. I mean, how can you not

Sideswipe is fantastic. I only wish I had a pair of twin swords that were still viable later in the game. I liked associating each of my 'bots with a distinct weapon so I ended up using him less when I didn't run into a decent set.

My Sideswipe got annihilated on Magnus, he has no chance. Right now the only decent weapon i have for Magnus is a hammer, and he can't use those. :/ Which sucks cuz he's pretty fun to use. I'm going to have to grind if I want him...

First time around I played through with Bumblebee. Had fun, but when the final boss came up and switched me to Optimus did I then realize I made a mistake.

I tempted to do a Wheeljack run focusing on range shootybang

I wish it was possible to make multiple profiles. I know I won't always want to play the game with Magnus/Prime enemy encounters and damage values, but if I go back to the lower difficulties, they're too easy because all of my equipment and characters are overleveled.

Agreed. Being locked to one save only without erasing data or switching accounts seems quite a big oversight for a PG title, and a shame considering they're one of the last proponents of manual saves.

Finally received this from Amazon.es, but it didn't come with the preorder code for Nemesis Prime and co. Contacted them but they say they aren't aware of any promotion at all. Did the preordr bonuses apply only to the US? If not, did anyone in Europe get the game from Amazon? Should I contact Activision?

Not going to lie, kind of bummed about it.

Bumble Bee user here, gotta love that Tatsu

Bumblebee is the best. Used Optimus on the last few missions though.

Okay so how I should manage weapons and synthesizing? Barely touched synthesizing at all on my first playthrough. Reading comments here it seems essential on higher difficulties.

Also any good tips on Mission 7
Menasor + Devastator fight
? Screen gets super busy in that fight and I have hard time seeing incoming attacks. Feels like I just get lucky when I beat them.

I love this game, but would have preferred a Cliffjumper skin for Bumblebee instead of Goldfire/Goldbug.

I wonder if they plan a future update/DLC pack though... I mean, call me cynical, but games that come out at $50 usually have $20+ worth of DLC they want you to buy. If their plan was monetization, I could totally see them adding a bunch more characters before embarking on a legit sequel. It would explain the odd absence of Ironhide and Brawn, who along with Cliffjumper seemed to appear in every episode to some extent.

Got tired of waiting for the PS4 version to show up in shops and went PC. Only played until Devastator and I'm liking it. There's something so satisfying about using the transformation attacks.

Just finished it and it's just left me pissed off I payed £35 for it , the look is great but the reuse of the same two environments and awful start stop gameplay has ruined any chance of me replaying it . High moon games were better imo wish this had the same budget

Got to the bits of the game where (as Bosman would say) you can feel when the money ran out and its RE-USE CITY. The top down perspective bit is the games lowpoint and dings it points, but then it does save matters by having the 2D bridge sequence right after.

Sideswipe is my boy, but I don't have any high level dual blades yet so I've gone Prime for the rest due to dat story feel.

If this had the crazy setpieces that Rising had, I'd be dead from hype

Lyrics kicking in/layered boss-battle music would have put me into a hype coma.

Prime can use dual blades too, and I got really good flame and cryo early, so Swipe got the flames, and Prime got the ice

Spoilers for the campaign

I got pretty fucking hype at the final battle, where Megatron and Prime are locking horns and talking SO MUCH SHIT while that hype soundtrack is playing. Especially since while that was happening, Megatron threw like 5 projectiles, and I dodged them all in a goddamn row. AHHHHHH

How do you do reversals exactly? I bought the perk (it's on, according to the move list) and tried holding square right after a focus but nothing happens or I just charge my hammer like usual. Also tried triangle, L2 and just tapping them. Nothing.

Ah yeah, but Sideswipe without, yknow, all dat swipin' doesn't feel right. My high levels are some burn blade glove things and a singular sword.

I was using Sideswipe without dual blades but with DA DRILLZ while they were viable (B rank) for Gurren Lagann'ing though B)

Its definitely holding the button, but the timeframe to execute it after reaching focus is very short. It isn't a just-frame input or anything, but the window is smaller than you might expect.

I never really dug the guy, but after playing for a bit, I now want to buy his MP figure.

You gotta hold X,Y or RB the moment you hit the dodge button.

Half way through my second playthorough and just found that you can activate aim just after a robot-time dodge to do an awesome Max-Payne style shooting-while-diving move.

Works great along with the Vanquish style weapon switching to get around low fire rates.

Thanks. Managed to pull a couple off just now. The timing is kinda strict.

Edit: Woah, the L2 reversal is really cool. Makes it look like Vanquish for sure.

Gawwwd that was awesome

BTW this just popped up in the shop while I was doing some challenges: http://i.imgur.com/HC3Fzau.jpg

Yeah, I had a problem with this too. Like others have said, it's gotta be -immediately- after.

DA DRILLZ are good, but yeah, it just fit to give him the dual flame swords, since the way I played him was basically as fucking insane whirling dervish

Gawwwd that was awesome

It wasn't as highly produced as Rising's end boss, but I got the same feeling. Just ALL THIS HYPE

feels like everyone is getting love except for wheeljack :(
I guess that's by virtue of him being a ranged specialist in a game where melee is so damn fun, but still, he had some of the best dialogue and I'm glad he got in because he was one of my favorites from the show. Plus that sweet vehicle mode.

Do skills and T.E.C.H stack? So if have a weapon with an atk+4 and atk+3 is it just going to take the atk+4 or do I have a eapon with an atk+7? This also applies to T.E.C.H?

also, what's with the T.E.C.H in general? I failed a 10k gamble and ended up with an amazing +50% to rare weapon drops and +2 to dodge frames. But it was a failure and yet when I hit the orange, I'm sometimes given crap.

Edit: i had 200k and spammed the gamble event without bothering to hit the orange but, wow I got some amazing T.E.C.H! Level 6 dodge, +400 max hp, weapon drop 80% damn.

It's random as fuck, but I've had better luck with hits than misses.

On the Game Informer podcast they said this game was more complicated and more difficult than Bayonetta.

How close is that to the conensus opinion?

I found the witch time activation timing to be more strict than Bayo1 which to me was more strict than Bayo 2. Not sure I like that. Bayo1 felt just right to me and Bayo2 was a bit too lenient for my tastes.

hmmm... not in terms of gameplay imho since you have a little less options. Maybe in terms of the loot stuff because to even stay competitive at higher levels you need gear that can output sufficient damage, which is very unlike bayo, and to get that you need to be synthesising gear and stuff like that, which imho detracts from the action.

But it is pretty sick to have an axe that procs stun 30% of the time or something.

The game is not more complicated than most of Platinum's work, unless you count the loot system I guess.

It's probably the most casual friendly game they've made, it's easy to do some really insane looking stuff that would take real practice in their other games to pull off.

That moment when you trigger the end just as this part of the song kicks in and your're mashing that shit to save the world HYPE HYPE HYPE
This song is hype as hell.

I have this game ordered on Amazon but keep waffling on it because I'm still addicted to MGSV/MGO3, yet I have Super Mario Maker unopened, and Devastation and Wooly World on the way. Too much of a good thing.

This song helped me recommit to my Amazon order. That, and the amazing look of cel-shaded Devastator. That has to be among the cooler-looking Platinum bosses.

For the first playthrough, I'm thinking I'll stick to Optimus Prime and focus on optimizing him. Unless you recommend otherwise.

I think Bumblebee is the easiest to play because he's the fastest in terms of movement and moveset. It's basically like you are Bayonetta in the game with him.

That's tempting (I've played Bayonetta 2 and Metal Gear Rising like 1,000 times, so I like fast characters), but I almost wonder if I should start with a slower character so it doesn't seem like a downgrade when I go to other characters, lol.

From what I can see in videos, it looks like all of the characters are fast in combat. It's mainly exploring the world where their difference in speed seems to show.
