Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Enjoyed watching the SCR exhibition matches. No R. Mika though? Man I feel like because she has the lowest stats people are gonna sleep on her. Don't matter, I'll make people know why she's dope during this next beta phase.

Or they just picked characters they were more interested in playing?

Guile totally can appear in the story and also not be playable.

That would be cool as long as it's not like MKX. I read that they put a few characters in the story mode that you actually fight against and they have complete move sets and they're later releasing as DLC.

If Guile shows up just to deliver a "BISONNN!" or two then I'm down for that.

There was at least one good R. Mika at SCR https://youtu.be/7esoi7cwIWg?list=PL5aDlIC0fY3WwK8X4vzF19sPIUBi4kugf

That's wrong... Tanya wasn't even close to complete when you fight her in story mode in MKX, Baraka was just his MK9 version, same with Rain... and the last 2 were never released as DLC.

The cast of 3s isn't that big. I don't even think there are four characters left in SFIII worth bringing back.

IIRC those characters had generic move sets in story mode.

I really hope that she's not very popular. Out of all the characters so far, she looks like the one I'll have the most fun playing and the least popular she is the better. Not out of some weird desire to play a character that not's popular with everyone else, but simply because I absolutely detest mirror matches. Can't stand them. It's why I'm so glad Abel hasn't really become too popular until recently. I would love to play someone like Nash or Ryu actually, but I don't think I could put up with the absolutely insane amounts of mirror matches that would come with it.

Agreed, I'm not a fan of the mirror match either. Not so much because of playing against my own character (which can be annoying in its own right) but rather because it's just weird in the sense of immersion and seeing the same character fight each other kind of tells you that it's a game after all.

I think there's a Vega-esque surprise at Paris Games Week., now that NYCC has come and gone without a reveal.

It is very likely that its a CE/SSF2 character, based on the character layout someone noticed. They did not reveal the chacters in a 12345678 fashion left to right, top to bottom. The SF2 characters have a deliberate layout on that chart of 16.

[SF] [SF] [CE] [??]
[SF] [SF] [CE] [SS]

Assuming that the remaining character is part of the back 8 SSF2 characters, here are the possibilities:
Balrog USA
T. Hawk Mexico
Fei Long Hong Kong
Sagat Thailand
Dee Jay Jamaica
I think we can rule out 3 specific ones:

T. Hawk has essentially been replaced by Necalli, a native American from Mexico who's far less of a ridiculous stereotype. (Hence the Tomahawk and Chokeslam)

Balrog, if he were in, would have been revealed at NYCC, there's no real reason to not do it there.

Dee Jay....because he's Dee Jay. If they were going to do a Jamaican character, Dee Jay would definitely one to get the Hawk/Blanka/(Sim) modern upgrade.

This leaves Fei Long and Sagat. Given that Bison no longer really has a specific nationality, we're actually missing a Thai rep at this point, out of the original SF2 countries. (Also, Indian, but hi Zen.) We're also missing zoning characters, which definitely categorizes Sagat. And in the "iconic characters you'd expect to see in a SF game", Sagat certainly fits the bill, having been in the original cast of SF1 (boss), SF2 (boss), SFA AND SF4.

Fei's certainly possible as well though. Karin's new moveset seems clearly designed to differentiate her from his play style. But looking at the info we have and using deductive reasoning, I definitely think we're most likely to see Sagat in Paris.

Only 16 characters make he initial roster. Don't get greedy now. Many of us are without our mains.

That would be me.
The layout I remember was
Ryu, Chun, Claw, ??
Ken, Gief, Dictator, Cammy

?? Could be either 'Sim, Gouki or any of the 3 ST characters.

Cool thanks for setting me straight. I only read about it in passing and I don't care about MK enough to look into it further myself so pardon my ignorance.

A suggestion for your immersion issue could be that you trick your mind into thinking that you’re fighting your evil clone created by a crazed mad scientist.

I gravitate toward unpopular characters as well, but I think this time the most intriguing ones to me are also going to be very popular (Ken, Karin). That said I think Mika will be low on the character selection ranking unless she's super obviously powerful.

There will be lots of Ryus and Kens, I imagine Bison, Necalli and Cammy will be popular, too. Depending on how strong they are, Zangief, Karin, Rashid and Laura probably rank in the next tier of popularity, with Claw, Chun Li, Mika below them, and Birdie at the bottom of the list. Not sure where Nash fits in. He's kind of difficult to use so I feel like he'd be bottom-half but he's very cool-looking so he could be up there as well.

As time goes on, people will discover new tech and strategies that bring certain characters into the lime light. Personally there is only one character in the whole game I'm not really excited to play and that's Chun Li. She just doesn't have the same dynamism the rest of the cast has.

Why don't they use Twelve? It would be a pretty fun cameo. Player two always comes out as Twelve and shape-shifts into the other character.

More direct feed gameplay from BGS (the thumbnail has me cracking up)

Woah, what? If I'm reading this right (and I'm not as familiar with Portuguese as I am with Spanish), Zangief's win quote to Laura:
"Your movements are more precise than before! You have trained well, Laura!"

Huh. I wonder how they met.

Man, Laura's hair needs to have more physics and interact with her arm, particularly on the select screen.

There's also a super weird issue where Laura's hair clips through Zangief's arm even though he is supposed to be in the front, because of him having hit last.

No one was going to be revealed at NYCC, because Laura and Zangief had just been revealed weeks before (Laura was supposed to be revealed just days before NYCC).

People need to stop acting like NYCC was supposed to have a reveal and didn't because of a conspiracy.

Oni was banned so whatever it is it's probably going to be hella nerfed

Or akuma becomes the highest risk ever and gets even lower health and hard to get trigger

She works best in 3S system. Anything else she would be butchered.

Well, that's kind of the beauty of V. The systems (skills/triggers) have been pretty much whatever fits the character. I can't imagine what a nightmare it's going to be to balance throughout the game's lifetime, but it sure makes things a hell of a lot of fun.
