The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone |OT| Heroes of Gwent

For those who are facing trouble with the
Ofieri mage and the soldiers
, you should re-equip your gear as soon as the fight starts.

Folks who are complaining about damage in the xpac: any of you guys in Ursine + oil + oil defense talent? Because the damage reduction on that combo is absolutely stupid.

For the first boss fight:

Get to the side of the toad so you can avoid his tongue. Facing him head-on is a bad idea. Hit his cheeks once or twice and retreat. Repeat. Simply avoid his poison bursts and roll away if the toad faces you head-on and you should be good. Beat him after three tries on DM (lvl 58). Cursed oil also helps. And Northern Wind bombs.

I want to play this so much but I want to finish SOMA first :(

And SOMA is so unpleasant to play (in a good way) :(

Life is hard, man

- The first boss fight is bullshit

You can't flank the toad and ranged damage is a joke in this game, so, what the hell are you suppossed to do? I cheesed my way out of it with Quen + Strong + Evade, but it took WAY too long. I must have been doing something wrong for sure.

Bombs are very effective on the first boss as a ranged option. I was using Northern Wind bombs and Dancing Star bombs and they were both highly effective.

two hours in, did the first side quest, the two first main quest bosses and I am indeed happy they made the game a bit more challenging. dying a few times is not a bad thing.

I didn't find a single new gwent player though, so that's a minus

Anyone found the "New Moon" armor? It's in a crypt in the top right corner of the map which involves a small side quest that begins and ends there. It's plain black and kinda average in stats but it's the smartest looking gear I've seen in the game. Only found the torso and boots there though. Wondered if anyone's found the whole set?

I love how natural the land expansion is. Goddamn CDRed is something else.

Also, found one of the new armours (NM) and it is tiiiight.

Just heard one soldier from a group I as fighting yell 'WITNESS ME BROTHERS!" before charging me haha love CDP.

You'll end up with a full set from the main quest line later on.

Toad boss was quite fun to get at! I actually enjoyed the tense atmosphere that pervaded the entire encounter; lots of one-hits-and-quits in the back and forth. Not too difficult, just about the right difficulty for the encounter.

Surprised people had trouble with the first boss. I just used Igni in his face and it's super effective. Though I'm level 34, so that might have helped.
The first two boss fights were very good. Also, Shani looks so cute. It's off to a good start!

The ROARF quest takes you through some of the best environments in the game. Beautiful.

Side quests are just as superb if not better than the main game.

Ok I'm on Death March and getting 1 shot by these
Knights in the lab
. It also auto saves right before the encounter, fml.

I love the area they've extended to the north, the village in the North-East is gorgeous too. These guys are masters, the game is just impressing me all over again and that's coming from someone who's spent possibly 130+ hours in the main game.

Makes me giddy to think what they have planned for the proper expansion.

ok, whats a good way to get money? that enchanter is way too expensive, I had 20k and now need another 10k for the master level

Gotta watch out when he starts waving his hands in the air, I also got stunlocked in his tornado once.

Killed him on my second go round, gave him a little tornado of my own. One of metal.

It's been a while since I played, but whirling fools to death still seems like it's a valuable strategy.

How do I kill groups of boars? THey just stunlock me to death.

Make a yrden circle and stand in the middle or close to it to protect your back. Face the other boar directly and parry its attack or hit it with aard when its is about to hit you and it will fall down for a finisher.

edit: northern wind is also a good help

Same, I lobbed a Superior Dancing Star at it and proceeded to slice it to ribbons.

Very impressed with what I've played so far, they haven't missed a step between the game and this expansion.

Cannot wait. I'm hoping there will be some tough new gwent players.

Are there any new ones at all though? All I've found is
the halflings at the wedding, who were really easy
. As for new cards
I've found 2 new leader cards, and know there are 2 more leader cards, but only found 1 new neutral card.

I'm a few hours in, and it just seems really light on in terms of Gwent.

I've found more than the torso and boots, but didn't keep track as I dismantled that stuff straight away. It didn't seem like an upgrade.

Are there any new upgrade paths for the gear you already own? I'm finding gear that's better than my Mastercrafted Wolven set, but I don't want to equip it.

I attracted them to the narrow passages at the start of the cave and spammed the heck of bombs and explosive arrows, once a pair of them were dead and the other pretty hurt I could fight normally.

Am I the only one that finds
the Everec fight really
really difficult?

It's the hardest fight I've done in the game. I wrote three pages ago:

For me the third boss fight was much harder. The key was to not fight him as a normal Witcher battle, which normally are solved through the use of potions, bombs, venoms, signs, while you evade and roll when it isn't a good moment to fight.
The real key was just simply being patient and only use parry, parry, parry, and counter parry when he attack with a red attack (there is a sound signal easy to recognize), which he was two types of. Then hit heavy attack, light attack, light attack, and then evade when he throws dust to your face.
Repeat 15 times
.

Just finished the wedding quest. Aside from the first two boss fights (
a mage fight right after that semi-shitty toad fight, with no indication you can re-equip your stuff? Piss off!
), it has been an excellent DLC so far. Didn't realize how much I missed these characters and the great writing.

Can't wait to dive in further.
