Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

But Zangief isn't a Mayor who takes on the criminal element of his city himself.

gief doesnt need the recognition of his whole country, hes okay with knowing its safe, he protects russias skies and succeeds. Haggar is always in a losing battle for some dinky city thats always on fire

objectively gief > gaggar

While we’ve seen Alpha characters like Birdie and Karin revived for the upcoming title, Dahlgren was specifically asked to address Street Fighter III fans who may be feeling a little underwhelmed with the current cast.

“We will get there,” he explained. “All of the different iterations will appear in Street Fighter V, just give us a little bit more time. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be pretty happy.” Dahlgren would go on to admit that it was probably a bit of an oversight to not feature any Street Fighter III characters in the initial roster.

So it's a 'bit of an oversight' to ignore an entire roster of characters and alienate their respective fans? Fuck off.

They ignored Street Fighter IV's newbies as well, so it's not just III that's getting the cold shoulder in the base roster. Though at least from the sound of that interview, we'll probably get the likes of Alex & Urien sooner rather than later.

Yeah, the whole 'I think SF3 is trash so I'm going to shit on it to piss people off' thing is old now.

I don't think SF3 is trash. Alex, Ibuki, and Yang are three of my favorite SF characters. /shrug You get hilariously emotional in these threads. It's not that serious.

I do honestly believe there isn't much of a "3s fanbase" to piss off in comparison to the rest of the series, though. I know people like to argue and debate all the stuff surrounding it, but it's not a popular game. Diehards for the series will be willing to pay for those characters when they come out, so it makes sense not to include them in the initial roster.

The idea of them as DLC is fine, I have no problem with that. My problem is saying that not having a single SF3 representitve in a game leading up to SF3 is 'a bit of an oversight' is a fucking joke. It's like they don't even care about showing that they don't give a fuck about the game.

I don't care if it's a small fanbase, it's a fanbase nonetheless. Popular game or not people like these characters and Capcom should at least act like they give a shit about all their fans, not just the ones who like SF2 and Alpha.

Who knows Matt could be lying to throw people off

So is taking the need to wait for certain characters to appear as this grave personal attack.

There are more of them than there are of fans of SF3. Capcom makes more people happy with this move.

Alex's low-fi presence in the background of the NY stage was a pretty good hint that (a) he was not in the original roster and (b) demand for him took Ono, at least, by surprise. I know people talk about Balrog and Vega appearing in the Small Airfield stage, but those were reasonable approximations of their actual models. "Alex" in the city background was initially mistaken for Axl.

Pity if this means Urien's out too.

So Alex is gonna be first wave DLC now that they know right?

It's probably too late for that, but I think we can expect Alex to jump the queue of characters not yet in development.

SF3 fans are starting to look like those extreme vegans that go apeshit over the mere sight of someone eating meat.

SF4 fans aren't getting anything either but you don't see them throwing a fit and you're guaranteed the inclusion of SF3 characters just like every revision of 4. Get over it.

There are dozens of us!

Dozens!

So Capcom are fine as long the smallest fanbase are unhappy. Great. I expect nothing less at this point

Yeah, especially when the first wave of DLC appears and it's a few 3s characters and all of your complaints disappear.

I swear if they reveal Remy at the Paris game show then I'm gonna be weirdly hyped and neutral at the same time

Definitely a classic character and a mainstay of the series, yep.

Maybe I had heard wrong but I though they hadn't begun work on DLC characters yet.

Not sure where you heard anything about when DLC characters were being developed.

I'm betting the smallest fanbase is SF1 characters.

Edit: I take that back. Muscle Bomber is in the SF universe and that has to be the least popular. I need Astro in SFV!

The only returning characters are from Alpha and ST, everybody else has to wait.

And they put like 6 SF3 characters into 4, it's not like they've been ignoring 3 since it came out.

There's also no SFIV reps yet even though the game was a lot more successful than 3. It is what it is. I await the day Rufus and Fuerte show up in SFV.

It's gonna be incredible dumb, but sticking with the theme of surprising us. I just don't like to go with a statement that can be interpreted many different ways as a way to be used as a way to predict the next character. My minds open to anyone being included just don't like being told I'm wrong from a statement that is generalized.

All a ruse for Remy! Yea, it's time to give up dude.

They just said they're coming. The combination of Sagat, Akuma, and Sakura probably have more fans than SF3 fans combined. They have to wait too.

I'm one of the biggest 3rd Strike fans, and I would've said Akuma alone has more fans.

Still, I think there are plenty of 3rd Strike characters that are worth bringing back (that weren't in SF4). Namely Alex, Urien, and Q. IMO only Remy and Twelve are throwaway.

Um, I've been wanting to see more SF1 cast members (Retsu, Geki, Joe, Lee, Eagle) in the SF games for... 24 years? And Sagat, who to me seems like a key part of the SF "mythos" (if there is such a thing) is MIA. Yet they're throwing in Karin.

Chill.

I definitely agree. Tons of the 3s roster will be awesome when they make it to SF5. But I can totally see why they're not there at the start.

Except Q. i hate that guy. :P

Dudley's my favorite character. But I don't take needing to wait for him as Capcom hating me.

This thread almost makes me hate SF3..just like the smash threads made me begin to hate Melee.

Its really not that serious. Especially when you will get them eventually if not soon after the release. We KNOW the game will add DLC characters. Relax

He's my favorite as well. Although we're look lucky in that regard because he's probably the 2nd most popular 3rd Strike character. I feel bad for Twelve and Remy fans.

I am absolutely insulted that Deejay hasn't been announced yet.

Absolutely rattled.

I know you're joking but the fact that Dee Jay appeared in both Alpha and 4 is a goddamned miracle. He should have died with Super SF2.
