Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I know lot's of people want Haggar to show up but he is literally a Zangeif clone. A Haggar costume would work just as well.

You got that backwards. Zangief is the clone of Haggar. Also I don't think there are any versions of Zangief and Haggar that actually play similar, despite them never appearing in the same game before.

That's not true.

Zangief only copied the spinning clothesline from Haggar.

Haggar copied Zangief's spinning pile driver, so the original grappler is Zangief.

Haggar appeared in a game first with the same style of moveset. If one of them is a clone it's Zangief.

capcom needs to replace the training stage music for the full release
i already never wanna hear it ever gain for the rest of my life

Zangief had a command grab first, thus making him the original grappler.

Haggar played barely different from Cody and Guy. Their fighting style cannot be more different.

Any R. Mika combos? She seems fun so far, seems like it's really hard to jump in on her since she has so many anti-air options, seemingly at least.
You can record matches and stream this beta through the PS4 as well, this go around.

Edit: Got disconnected =(
Got two ranked matches in lol

Mika can combo into mediums. St LP St LK St MP Medium Butt was a decent hit confirm.

Other fun ass stuff.

(Corner) MP, F. MP (throws into corner) Charge HK, medium Air Grab

I'm pretty sure he's just saying that Zangief's moves and animations are highly derivative of Haggar's, not that they literally control the same between two games in different genres.

Eh, think the most similar move is the splash. Piledrivers are p generic as they go, and their build and moves are p different.

So wait, the second beta has CPU opponents in the training stage?
Holy shit! When the PC beta gets cracked, we won't just have smacking the training dummy around forever! Awesome!

This is interesting, I wonder if shareplay will work for the PS4 and let you play with friends that way. Since you can now use most of the share button functionality in this beta. I was able to record a match and take screenshots and i didn't start up a stream, but the option was available and went as far as going to the screen to select a stream service.

Haggar was still in a game in the Street Fighter Universe before Zangief was and Zangief still stole his move. If one of them is a clone it's Zangief.

Again the two have never played alike in any game though, so I'm not really sure why you keep harping on this and trying to change the argument to "Being the original grappler" rather than what I said.

Happy to hear "Player Controlled" is allowed in training, I'll accept that as a local VS play substitute in between matches!

Capcom Fighting Network stuff really reminds me of Namco's online modes in recent Tekken and Soul Calibur games. It's nice to see the functionality appearing here.

The thing is I don't consider them visually similar; they share some moves but they look different. So if you come at me saying "one is clone of the other" I will have to assume it is gameplay wise.

Whatever the semantics, I think the bottom line is Haggar has never been in an actual SF game, so there's not a good basis for saying Zangief makes him irrelevant as a choice for SFV, especially with the V-system to further differentiate characters. That's actually why it's a good time to bring him into the series to give him his own identity.

Despite the fact I said:

This was in response to the claim that Haggar was literally a clone of Zangief.

Zangief is a "clone" because he took the style of character "Wrestler" and stole the move from him. Again they don't play similarly in any games they appear in to my knowledge (I've never played Final Fight Revenge so maybe that's an exception, I seriously do not know) btu if one of them is a clone it's Zangief.

I agree with this. Zangief is moving in a bit of a different direction with this version of him in V so I think they can bring out Haggar later and differentiate him enough that we he'll be interesting and unique from Zangief.

Nah, Zangief is clearly derived from FF Haggar.

It's kind of a Joe/Cody situation.

Haggar doesn't have the monopoly on big wrestler. They took one Haggar move, put it on a vastly different character and created a new playstyle; they never have been in a game where they play similarly, yet in MVC3 Haggar still has a command grab.

Seeing this after the post before it gave me a good laugh.

Oh well.

Let's reduce the claims to Zangief being the original grappler.

Which, again, wasn't what a was claiming. The spin piledriver and the concept behind it (Command throw) originated with him to the best of my knowledge. However that's pretty much the only thing he brought to the table.

zangief is cooler than whoever that guy is tho

he spins in the air and screams "i am the protector of russias skies" and decimates people

Ah that's unfortunate. Guess that might be a feature that's implemented towards the end of the development. Does anyone know of a beta that had shareplay functioning?

To be clear, gameplay recording and streaming were indeed previously blocked. correct?
