.

Why does voting for Ryu and Ken make you non-hardcore?

Also If SF 3 characters soo popular why are they less represented compared to Alpha and SF 2 ?

I dunno. Why is Dee Jay still relevant? Bam, Checkmate atheists.

What tournament match was ever as iconic as Daigo vs Justin 3S in II,Alpha,IV,etc.?

Why we act like Final Fight exists?

Who in the hell is Haggar?

Why Dhalsim when Necro is superior?

Why my character > Your character?

Why?

Theres your answer.

Dhalsim represents a certain zany quality of SF2 that I feel like SF4 already encapsulated to its fullest extent and SF5 should distance itself from imo. I'm for Remy being in a game where parrying isn't a universal joystick-based mechanic that makes the most prominent components of his toolset fucking useless.

Daigo vs Justin in 3S is the most iconic match in SF history. It featured classic and memorable third strike characters like Chun-li and Ken. Capcom is nice enough to put both of them in SFV, so cheers to them.

Daigo vs. Justin 3S is for the most part boring as shit. You'll find more varied matches with more interesting things going on looking up random ranbats on TheShend. The parry is really the only notable thing about the former.

Battle by the Bay. One of my favorite tourneys ever.

Valle CC...just reading about it was crazy. Knowing that Valle sat on this tech and only used it during this tourney, and Choi turning it around on Valle. So awesome.

Not really possible in this day and age, which is good and bad (mostly good), but super cool to see this piece of FGC history.

lol, if I worked for Capcom, I don't think I'd show a loop reset in the corner that can do 80% off a 50/50 where you guess wrong twice. That or they're REALLY catering to the hardcores with this one.

Dammit man, now I gotta look through the shit ton of r.mika play to find it, but he does show it happening. Either way the mix up is pretty gimmicky since the delay timing is pretty obvious.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's been done. All mixups are gimicky, but since she's making you block it's a free command throw if they're conditioned. I literally found it and several combos in the span of 25 mins. Like most SF5 characters, if you halfway understand how SF works, you can figure out a character in 30 mins or less. Same happened to me with Birdie/Cammy.

The funny thing about Justin vs Daigo is that neither one actually won that Evo.

As for SF4 matches that are really memorable for me... it's usually really unexpected matches like when Infiltration chose Hakan vs P.R. Balrog... or when Infiltration chose Hugo against Snake Eyez.

The conclusion of the vanilla SF4 Gamestop tourney with Iyo's Dhalsim edging out over Daigo was probably the most excited I got watching that game. There was also some hotness with Daigo landing the famous Ume-shoryu on one of Dhalsim's limbs (fierce iirc) and confirming into super cancel from like half-screen.

Reminds me of being on SRK when somebody asked why Daigo was even there because he didn't actually win for his territory, and somebody went "he's Akuma, he has his own flag"

Okay

No Ryu in the next beta phase (I missed out on the first time) makes me sad. Remove that scrub Ken and make room for the real Shoto.

Oh shit, I'm about to anger some folks in here.

By the literal definition 'a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business.'

Instead of going for raw damage, you go for a 50/50 mixup. A trick to get more damage. Gimmicky.

Max, just watched your stream of R. Mika gameplay, so good. All those slippery setups looked too good to be true. Makes me wish the beta was up right now. I'm anxious to get some training in her with. Easily my main.

Enjoy her for now. I'm feeling the same way about Mika that I felt about Cammy. Which was literally no feelings, then Cammy totally sold me on her gameplay in the first beta. The sad part, is Cammy's dramatically different now and lacks many many tools she had before. I fear the same could happen to any of the post Necalli characters. I do appreciate it and I also hope she remains a beast up until launch. Fighting games are exhilarating when every character has easy to perform but threatening tools.

Alpha 2 is always going to be the FG with the quintessential OP segment to me. Fucking bring back the lightning storm wilderness stage, such a good nod to the SF2 animated movie.

Yeah I hope that doesn't happen, at least if anything nerf her damage but keep her playstyle intact.

Also can anyone upload a new movelist for R. Mika? It seems like the old image going around is now obsolete as her V-Reversal command used to be --> PPP and now it's --> KKK which makes way more sense.

There's no way a regular mix up= gimmick. That turns things like an overhead into a gimmick tool? and that puts everyone's pressure as a gimmick by that definition. That definition doesn't fully apply to fighting games correctly, what most people would call a gimmick would be something that would work only once because of how specifically it is set up. Like doing forward throw with Dudley in the corner and then timing so that you get a cross up j.lk would be considered a dumb gimmick, but whatever.

real shame max didn't play claw yesterday, with him no longer a charge character i'm definitely intrigued

I've never been a Vega fan, but due to limited selection in the beta...I'll probably be playing him at some point.

I get where you're coming from, but I was more referring to combos where you sacrifice damage for a mixup.

Hmm... Hey Max, are you going to try out the PC beta when it arrives, or will you stick to PS4?

Mika looks really fun, Claw looks... Uh, good. Might actually get into grapplers with SFV.

PC version will be bought IFF the backgrounds are animated at 60fps and not the dark-souls-enemies-in-the-distance bullshit they have now.

I watched this video in its entirety a couple of weeks ago.

It is amazing how you can see people waking up to the brokenness of custom combos by the end.

Yeah...it's funny, but since there wasn't much internet, and no way for me to watch videos, all I had to go by was hearsay and strategy guides. The Alpha 2 guide, which I still think is the best guide for fighters ever, talks about this tourney and how Choi adjusted. Valle hadn't lost in an alpha 2 tourney yet to that point, so Choi beating him a few games was insane. Man, I can't imagine how hype something like that would be now. I guess the only thing comparable would be some of Infiltration's runs in SF4 (forget if it was Super or AE) and SFxT.
