Street Fighter 6: Graphics comparison Switch 2 vs other consoles. Direct feed footage

there's no competition in the handheld space lmao

the ROG Ally X is not a competitor to the Switch give me a break

Their main competitor : Tablets. You didn't know this?

And a very mighty competitor, half the price, cheaper games and keeps the children happy all the same: Nintendo Switch, in a variety of presentations, LCD, Lite or even the dazzling Oled.

It appears Nintendo have clawed their way back from 1½ generations behind (at the time of Switch launch) to 1⅙ generation behind (at the time of Switch 2 launch), essentially leaping 1⅓ generations in a single generation.

Safe to say my expectations have been exceeded.

Tablets were well established when the Switch sold 150 million units or whatever.

And the Switch is not a competitor to the Switch 2 any more than the PS4 was to the PS5. It's Nintendo's job to move people onto the Switch 2. Hopefully they do a better job than Sony did, Mario Kart World being Switch 2 exclusive shows they understand this better than stupid Sony did.

True

NVapi is close to metal. We've never seen the modern nvidia architecture without the bloat of PC API and drivers, nor their architecture communicating so close to the CPU, as PC as to go through this fucking old x86 architecture.

Dev kits also probably heavily suggest to use mesh shaders. Removing need to go back in system memory all the time for geometry.

Nvidia software is king and NVAPI likely interfaces with nvidia's SDKs seamlessly.

The problem is not X86. It's Microsoft and it's software stack.
Windows is slow as molasses, has a ton of bloatware and it's APIs an SDKs are very limiting.
And then there are the bugs, tons of them. Some that cause severe performance issues.

You're dumb or in total denial if you think or believe less than 80% of all Switches and its games end up in a kids hands.

From Nintendo themselves

A valid point. FINALLY. But you know what's funny about that? THAT IS THE KIDDIE system.

Indeed you are. After your poor retort I'm done with you.
It's all right. I've dialed back my rhetoric on nearly everything I've said to you because I didn't want to bruise you; you're like a delicate peach that's set in the store a day too long, and it's little ass is bruised.

Same for me. Can't wait to see how Cyberpunk release build is going to run to give my final verdict, but everything is looking really really good.

this is a problem that cannot get fixed. MS tried, and people cried and refused to move on from Win32. Now, if anything, based on what people are saying, those problems are now being moved onto Xbox.

It's just where we are at.

Right. The Ally in all its forms is operating in a different bracket. It's a PC handheld in every regard, with nothing pared down; you can do actual work on the thing if you're so inclined lol.

The Switch 2 is a handheld console, and in that regard, has no real competition.

Let's add more salt to his wound.

Famitsu and Entertainment Business Insight ran a poll in Japan on Switch owners:

Don't waste your time there… When you read Nintendo is for kid… There's 90% of chance that the one who is writing is a Kid and Maybe he is mad with Nintendo because the Switch 2 is too expansive for his christmas gift.

I mean if he is a 12 year old kid, I wouldn't want to push him to suicide or self-mutilation.

That is because the alternatives that MS created to replace Win32 where even worse. Such as UWP.

Yakuza 0 without DLSS surpass Xbox One X

I think it's well proven now docked mode is beyond the last gen Pro consoles

It's located in neatly in cross gen as you say. Might have less troubles than Series S because of 12GB VRAM and DLSS vs base console FSR pixel soup.
Certainly. I think the One X might also be a good comparison point if the 12 GB LPDDR5 is confirmed true considering the One X also has 12 GB, but of GDDR5.

Ofcourse sticks and stones aren't comparable, but it looks like its pretty much locked inbetween last-gen's mid-gen refreshes and the Series S, which is alright for the PSXbox gamers and great for the Nintendo crowd who have less of an issue with graphical prowess.

It will take a teardown to get exact specs, but i think the main game that will showcase and settles the reference will be CP2077. Luckily for us, it will be a launch game so i am definitely looking forward to the DF featurette on that, cross comparing last-gen and current-gen with the Switch 2.

Considering i own CP2077 for the PS4 Pro, i am looking forward to that.

PS4 is a competitor to PS5, and every other console and PC. Not as strong anymore because this gen is over 4 years old, but it keeps getting major games.

But PlayStations are bought by a different demographic than the Switch. PlayStation gamers buy their own stuff, they make money. They also care about things like resolution and framerates etc. Kids don't even have brand attachment and loyalty, and they will play what their parents will buy for them or can afford. Many kids will go to their parents asking for a Switch2, their parents will tell them they already have one. If the kids don't have a SW1 then that's what they'll be getting, as most parents can't afford a 500+ toy + much more expensive games.

Yes, tablets didn't stop the Switch selling 160 million but they haven't gone anywhere, its sales always on the rise, always a big threat, and it will definitely be an option when Switch got fancier, pricier and a parent can't afford or not willing to buy their kid(s) a very expensive machine that they will take everywhere and beat the crap out of. Also, less conflict and fights between siblings when you get cheap tablets for each one. Are you a parent? Can you afford a $600+ luxury toy for your kid(s)?

Im going to preorder 3, one for me, one for my wife and one for my daughter 🤷‍♂️. Adults work.

Yeah, but surely it's easier communication within the same APU than going out

The whole CPU - system memory - GPU - VRAM back and forth must be kneecapping what the silicon on PC could do

But yeah, Microsoft OS/API/SDK compared to a trimmed down OS with NV API is probably in a whole other world.

it's impressive that it runs at 4k60, however I wouldn't necessarily take the One X version as a perfect comparison point.
given the performance I got on my old PC at the time, I feel like the One X was a tad underutilized in Yakuza 0.

I could run the game at near locked 120fps at 1440p on a GTX1070. the 1070 is more powerful than the GPU of the One X, but not 2x as powerful.

so I bet 1800p would have been possible on the One X.
they probably tested 4k, got framedrops, and just jumped down to 1440p to get an easy lock to 60fps

Good for you! I'm sure most parents are just as wealthy as you! Hopefully Nintendo takes the hint and raise the prices even more since it's all so cheap evidently!

But that is a matter of the IBM PC setup. Not the ISA.
Besides, there is already things that mitigate somewhat the shuffling of data between the 2 pools, such as Rebar and DMA functions.

Still, it's true that is a disadvantage. But there are advantages to it. For one, we can upgrade the CPU or GPU without having to replace the whole SoC and memory.
And having 2 memory pools means we can have one pool with very low latency, optimized for CPUs, and a pool optimized for GPUs with very high memory bandwidth.
Remember that the GDDR6 on the PS5 and Series S/X have a latency of 140ns. And that really hurts the CPU performance.
Another problem is that having the CPU and GPU accessing the same memory pool causes contention issues that reduce overall system memory bandwidth.

So there isn't one solution that is perfect. There are two approaches, each with it's advantages and disadvantages.
Good devs will make the best out of each approach. Bad devs will screw it up in consoles and PCs.
And Microsoft has a talent of just screwing up.

TL;DR PlayStation is for grown-ups, Nintendo is for children

This guy straightly came out from 2006 lmao

People forget that Yakuza 0 is a ps3 game on the ps3 engine, the midgen ports were pretty bad, hardly maximising the hardware when you have something like Gears 5 running at 4k 60 fps on Xbox One X, it could easily run Yakuza 0 at 4k 60. You also have RDR2 at 4k 30fps which is infinitely more advanced than yakuza even on the new dragon engine which runs like shit.

Why are you arguing everything except what the op is about? 🤔 are you sad? Do you need a hug?

Your kind of replies to my original comments is what derailed the conversation. You derail posting teddy bears and then ask me to get back on topic? I was always on topic until the tulips like you started shedding their petals

Gears 5 was not really 4k 60fps. it was dynamic 4k that usually hovered closer to 1440p during combat.
it did have impressive looking TAAU tho, so a very clean looking image.

the dragon engine is however truly trash yeah... and not worth the framerate reduction it had on last gen systems.
on the same GTX1070 PC I was able to play Yakuza 0 at 1440p 120fps basically maxed out, I barely was able to hit a steady 60fps with lowered settings in Kiwami 2 that made it look worse than 0

Do they both play games? If the answer is yes, then it's competition to Nintendo.

It's not competition Nintendo need to sweat over, but that could change in the coming years with more portable options coming to the market.

Just looks like PS5 has DOF applied?

Besides DoF, Switch 2 lacks ambient occlusion and shadows compared to PS5.

Ps5 is clearly better overall but the hair does look better on switch 2 I'll give it that.

Hair seem to look cleaner on Switch 2, but in actuality they are simplified vs PS5.

I don't think we can make an accurate comparison between the Switch 2 and PS4 Pro versions here until we see what kind of graphical settings the Switch 2 version is pushing.

Based on the image above alone, and the footage we've seen of the PS4 version, it looks like the above image is pushing visuals more, to my eyes at least.

Switch 2 looks definitely better than PS4 and even PS5 in several scenarios, it has better lighting and shadows. Also a different color grading. At times it gets close to PS5 Pro, albeit while running at 30 fps. Video footage is dogshit so we'll see.

Nintendo delivering the coupe de grace to MS. Now there truly is only room for 2 in the console space.
Based AF. Maybe that's why the pissers and moaners have gathered; instead of playing MKW on the PS5 or Series X, us "Nintendrones" or whateverTF they call us will get to play Halo: MCC on the Switch 2.

A PS5 comes down in price All december it was $325 bundled , PS5 Slim DE. Why do you care about the disc drive in this comparison, to put it on SW2 favor? The point is, you can always get a PS5 cheaper, SW2 maybe a $10 discount in BF 2027 (lol). SF6 can be bought for less than $60 on PS5 as well, good luck buying SF6 for less than $60 this year (unless it flops which is very likely).
Street Fighter 6 is currently £33 on Amazon at the moment and it's not a deal either.

Just to note, Switch 2' rumored A78C ~ 1 GHz/8 cores CPU wouldn't come into the equation with such a specific game, but i would very interested on how it would fare against XSS' 3.4 GHz ZEN 2 cores in a cpu intensive open world game or physics calculations in general. The I/O-storage speed side can equally be an interesting comparison to a lesser degree.

Switch 2 Ampere GPU is more capable than RDNA2.

Ampere can use mesh shader and True Variable Rate Shading, RDNA2 only can use primitive shaders and has no support for VRS.

I think Switch 2 is a generation ahead if you think about it and DLSS is leagues better than PSSR.

Now look at AMD PC handhelds and tell me you didn't smoke crack before posting

The AMD handhelds are not getting beaten by this system. People have already reported framerate issues for Cyberpunk on Switch (CD Projekt Red claimed that they were targeting 20-30fps, ouch!), and we have seen excellent performance on Cyberpunk for Steam Deck at high settings.

Let's wait and see until the technical YouTube channels get their hands on the ports and do extended tests. Matching the 2013 PS4 at 20 watt TDP in 2025 isn't that impressive.

All RDNA 2 GPUs besides PS5's have hardware support for VRS. Games can/are already using mesh shaders via the available primitive shader hardware, no problem there.
