September 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes October 13th

If they keep cutting the price of the XB1, sure it will get a boost but in the long run they are just devaluing the console. People will just say why buy it now when it'll be cheaper next year.

Sure one or two people will figure out there's some pattern, but most won't see it. All they're gonna see is a next gen console which is $50 cheaper than the other next gen console.
That also means they won't be able to do price cuts when the droughts come in the middle of the gen while Sony can.

If Sony wins this Holiday then it's over for MS, they willl never win US. So these "price cuts when the droughts come in the middle" means nothing to MS if it's not gonna help them beat PS4.
I just can see MS keep lowering the price when their R&D or BOH aren't going down like Sony's.

Or just do what they usually do, sell hardware at loss and make profits from selling software. I mean MS strategy in US seems to be prioritizing higher install base against making profits in hardware.

A console doesn't need to be in "first place" to be relevant. The Xbox One can cruise in a comfy second behind the PS4 and still be profitable and relevant.

Relevant for MS = #1 in US.

I still think X1 will win october somehow, it would be the exception to amazon accuracy streak.

PS4 will definitely do better than holiday 2014 and might increase the US gap with X1.

+100K or 150K maybe?

Don't think PS4 can pull OG Destiny bundle numbers like last year.

Bigger gap between PS4 and XB1

1) 254,000 - September 2014
2) 229,000 - November 2013
3) 130,000 - January 2014
4) 129,000 - October 2014
5) 120,000 - May 2014

I believe this month PS4 will break this TOP 5, maybe even the TOP 3.

Did anyone see this Target deal in which you can get a 50" Samsung HDTV and an XBOX One/Gears of War Ultimate Edition bundle for $799.98?:

Vk0yueR.png

So, as the image says, it's a 50" Samsung TV that typically costs $649.99 and the XBOX One/Gears of War Ultimate Edition Bundle costs $349.99. That would typically cost you $999.88. This deal saves you $198.90. I wonder if this will move consoles. 50" is a good size. I wonder how recent the TV is. There's no mention of it having any internet connected features, but then again, you'd be getting an XBOX One which would have most of the apps that a smart TV would typically have.

Edit- Looking into this more, it seems the $349.99 Master Chief Collection and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag/Assassin's Creed Unity bundles work with this.

Not nearly as impressive as the "free TV" deal, this kind of bundle is much more common.

The gap will be 7-10k.

The TV looks VERY similar to the Samsung TV that I have (it's 50" too). Funny.

Looks like low-entry TV model. Like it says on screeshot - Model UN50J5000 2 HDMI's, build-in Wi-Fi ( didn't found nothing in official manual )??

I don't MS can. Or rather, they want to actually make a profit this year.

I think with Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, Band 2 and Lumia they are going for increased revenue and market share and not neccasirly profits this quarter in the entertainment and devices division.

I don't MS can. Or rather, they want to actually make a profit for once this year.
Fixed it.

So, some users here say they want to make a profit, some say they need to be No.1 and Halo is their biggest chance.
Don't know if "why not both" is possible.

Making a profit seems like an excuse in advance in case they even lose Halo month.
"Well, we never intended to win this month. Console wars are ungraceful and we do not look what the competition does anyway (never did). We just want to make a profit like conservative, solid, old-fashined salesmen."

Well if MS really edge to win October i think they should announce a $50 price cut(at least "temporarily(lol)") now.

In fact Halo bundle is $50 more than CODAW bundle($449 at holiday) surprised me.

Amazon Oct Bestsellers so far:

PS4: 21 (TLoU), 28(TTK), 29 (SW:BFrnt),37(UC:NDC),59 (CoD:BO3)
XB1: 32 (H5)

Bearing in mind the H5 XB1 bundled enjoyed 24th place back in August too - however didn't chart in Sept.
