Seriously why is there no HD download

Help, i have to see before i can sleep, its 4:30 D:

I will be very disappointed if Luke Skywalker has little presence in this story. I know Jedi Master Luke is something we've all expected for a long time, but I would have figured that he being the primary mentor figure to the new characters would be a no-brainer. It would just feel right, all while being respectful to the prior films.

That said, I'm still incredibly excited.

So people are posting huge spoilers in here even though theres a spoiler thread for that? Screw off. Ugh. Guess im gonna have to abandon thread

Honestly, I blame the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars for all this. Lucas went crazy and shoved a shit tone of Jedi all up in there because light sabers are cool. In the OT, Jedi and the Force were myth and 'ancient religion'.

Not really. It's implied with references that Jedi were in abundance before the Empire came about. It's not hard to imagine that after the purge. Sidious deemed the Jedi as evil. Then over time either warped their history or suppressed it.

Those people saying some of us have posted spoilers, have spoiled the movie for us. We were just speculating based on the footage and material provided in the trailers. Then they come in and tell us we spoiled it because they read the leaks and confirm our speculation?

Seriously. FILTH.

Forgetting about Jedi is just what people in this galaxy do.

In New Hope the Force was thought of as an " ancient religion " by the higher ups in the Empire. And that was just 20 years or so after the clone wars.

The timeline is a bit funny though when you think about it. Obi-wan is not close to old in Revenge of the Sith, but 20 years later he is a very old man who can barely even fight anymore. The people don't talk about those events anymore and think of Jedi and the Force as ancient legends.

So naturally, 20 or whatever years after the end of Return of the Jedi, that time is told only in tales around the campfire.

Oh well that's lame. Still avoiding thread now.

You're breaking my heart.

I kinda expect he'll play a bigger role in the second and/or third film. It's a three movie arc, after all. Given the fixation on Han, and the whole "Jedi/The Force a thing of myth and mystery", I guess the first film will establish the awakening of the Force in certain characters alongside establishing the legend through Han. Meanwhile the second film will concrete the Force by having Luke play a stronger role and bring it all together.

There's an actual script that leaked? I thought everybody was going off of that MSW report from sources and call sheets.

No, just a detailed summary. Yes, the MSW one.

It's time to just abandon this thread at this point.

BLACKOUT

It's amazing how strong the StarWars brand still is today. This video broke the internet just over an hour ago, and its not even for episode VII. I can't imagine how insane hype will be leading up to VII. I enjoyed this trailer though and I'm glad to see a black protagonist.

Is it so wrong to think its possible? Come on guys. Just because the PT failed to do it doesn't mean it will never happen. Even my lack of trust in Abrams isn't stopping me from digging what I'm seeing. Lets not forget Kasdan helped write this too.
It's not wrong but if you set too high of expectations you might be only setting yourself for disappointment if it's only good and not great. I'm just saying it again right now, It's only a trailer and we still have no official handle on what this movie is really about besides being a sequel to the Star Wars movies.

The Jedi becoming completely forgotten after only 20 years between the PT and OT is weird, but you can sorta handwave it away with the idea that the Jedi could have been discredited and smeared by the rather biased dictator running the galaxy during that time turning them into traitors and charlatans.

I believe they've also established that nobody in the galaxy outside of Yoda, Obi-Wan, Vader, and maybe high ranking imperials even knew that Palpatine was a Sith or even able to use the Force.

By the time of TFA, it's been 50 years since the Jedi Order was a thing, and unless you were living on Coruscant or a contested world in the Clone Wars where you happened to see a Jedi in combat, it would have been like 0.0000001% of people in the galaxy who ever saw a Jedi in person.

And to be fair, the weirdness goes back to A New Hope anyway. It's established then that the Jedi Order had been whiped out within the last 20 years (Luke's lifespan) and already by that point they were almost mythical.

You're right though, the Empire could do a lot to control information around the Jedi, both by discrediting them and wiping them from history. With the sheer amount of control the Empire/Palpantine had, they certainly had the capability to bury the Jedi pretty deep. Think the Great Firewall of China to a galactic extreme hahah. And then of course there's the scale of it all. The Jedi were heavily involved in the Clone Wars are prominent leaders, but there was already so many, and it is a galaxy after all.

I mean... the Jedi and dark side seemingly aren't forgotten. Han is confirming the stories that the kids already heard... they just seemingly couldn't believe it, it was so divorced from their present reality.

Basically it's KIDS REACT TO JEDIS.

I am guessing the movie will have Han, Leia and Chewie from the old gang.

The next movie can then have Luke and Lando.

The third movie they all die.

and i had to find it here. when i searched youtube for it is was the old trailers and fan trailers.

The spoilers always came off as people building something around the existing teasers, trailers and various promotional stuff we've received. Have we ever gotten a supposed leak, and then have it later validated by something in the trailer?

Second teaser and this trailer have validated every spoiler I've read. There are tons of shots (Like Kylo in the rain with his friends) that were leaked months ago.

Um... Is this a joke I don't get? Because Force Awakens is Episode VII, they're just not using the "Episode" moniker anymore.

If you're not joking... wow.

This explains why leaving the episode number off the title might be a bad move for some....

The 'myth' could be about whether any Jedi/Sith exist now or in the recent past as opposed to whether they ever existed. I would imagine that as far as most of the galaxy is concerned, the only Force user who people would still know about post-Jedicide in Ep 3 would be Darth Vader. The idea that some random Jedi suddenly popped up out of nowhere after the entire order had been massacred decades ago would seem ridiculous, let alone the Emperor being an Sith Lord.

Outer Rim of the Galaxy! Find a barely inhabited island in the South Pacific and ask them about Germany and WW2

The empire and republic had a giant battle there. They were obviously slightly more important than the equivalent of a barely inhabited island on the south pacific. Ask someone from a place where there was actually a WW2 battle and your odds will be slightly better.

Ha that's cute.

But i'm surprised she didn't got to see it before us.

Is kind of surprising but many actors don't see their films till they are more or less out. They just aren't privy to most things they don't need to know about our be involved in. Kind of a need to know basis. They come in, do their scenes and several months later, or longer, the film is released as a whole. Stuff like this is even less relevant to them so it's even less likely they would see it before us. It's a bit weird, but that's how things go.

Really funny and kind of sad and extend example of this is Adrian Brody going to the premiere of The Thin Red Line thinking he was the star of the film, as that is what it was originally and what he shot, but the actual film all but cut his character from it and completely refocused the movie on other characters.

The part where Rey asks if the stories are true disproves several alleged spoilers.

I have mostly stopped watching the final trailers of movies because some of them spoil the entire thing, but I couldn't resist this. Gladly, this wasn't the case.

Or was, I'll find out in two months.

What are you talking about?

Amazing score, amazing trailer! Also, WELP
There's the leaked Vader mask, so this movie will end up being either fairly straightforward, or we could see Empire Strikes Back level curveballs

Love Lupitas dialogue

Gah the more I watch the better it gets
