You know what? I feel the same way. It wasnt that long ago. How can they forget so quickly in such an advanced society? I get it, the universe is big and all that and that can explain it i guess.

Still weird kinda.

As someone who has never been blown away by the films, I don't think besting them is out of the realm of possibility.
No nothing is out of the realm of possibility but to get that out of this trailer that gave no indication of that is bonkers. You guys need to temper yourselves just a tiny bit.

God I hope it's honestly the best thing ever or some of you guys are going to be devastated for disappointment it looks like.

Looking forward to seeing Luke near the end of the film as the force sensitive character goes on a journey by herself/himself.
Hoping Chewy/Han dying
means Rey goes away for a movie and comes back at the end of the second one. Looks like she will struggle with her dark side.

This is a shitty fucking post if these are actual spoilers, dude.

The Jedi becoming completely forgotten after only 20 years between the PT and OT is weird, but you can sorta handwave it away with the idea that the Jedi could have been discredited and smeared by the rather biased dictator running the galaxy during that time turning them into traitors and charlatans.

I believe they've also established that nobody in the galaxy outside of Yoda, Obi-Wan, Vader, and maybe high ranking imperials even knew that Palpatine was a Sith or even able to use the Force.

By the time of TFA, it's been 50 years since the Jedi Order was a thing, and unless you were living on Coruscant or a contested world in the Clone Wars where you happened to see a Jedi in combat, it would have been like 0.0000001% of people in the galaxy who ever saw a Jedi in person.

Was kind of the same way in New Hope. When the fleet admirals tell Vader " his sad devotion to that ancient religion "

And that was only what, 20 years or so after Revenge of the Sith ( how old was luke in New Hope? )

Destroying one library wouldn't make people forget about the Jedi.

Imagine someone destroying the library of congress today and what kind of impact that would have on us remembering WW 2 and then remember that Star Wars is thousands of years more advanced.

there were only 10 000 jedis in the galaxy.

For most planets, they were only something they heard about.

Then you have the empire actively killing anyone who shows support for them and giving 20 years worth of propaganda. It's not hard to see it happening.

Countries in the world have been brainwashed like this.

Also, "Journey to the Force Awakens" shows the empire in damage control mode. Claiming the death of the emperor to be rebel propaganda and charging treason on whoever speaks about it. And 30 years later, the battle of Endor is just a myth.

I finally watched it. The second the trailer dropped a plate of food was put in front of me at a restaurant. It wasn't the right time and place...

Wow. I guess the thing that impacts me the most is how the events of the OT are legend.

I love it. It kind of mirrors how they're basically legends in pop culture today too.

Yup. The world takes place across a galaxy. Information sharing is not trivial when you are in different planets light years apart. Not everything is connected by a WWW.

I got choked up during Finn's lines about being raised to fight, but he doesn't know what he's fighting for. It's going for realism but still keeping it in the SW universe somehow.

Love Theme appearing.

Dat final shot.

The aerial battles looks like they came straight from Final Fantasy XII (not implying anything, just the feeling I had from seeing it).

My God. Can't wait for this movie.

Still, they literally had the force down to a science. There should be textbooks and shit available for inquiring minds.

Crazy how according to the trailer The Force and the exploits of Luke, Han, Chewbacca, Leia, and the rebels are legends of sorts.

Seems so soon for that.

Think about it? Who really outside that group saw The Force. Luke only used his Saber a handful of times and not one was around to see it. Not many people really know about the Dark Side and It's not shocking that the Jedi are reduced to fables or legends.

The story has been leaked for months. I'm only privy to one major detail - not by choice - and I haven't seen it pop up in this thread, but they're definitely out there.

How do you know it's true though? Did someone get the actual script? By all means, keep spoilers in the thread. But honestly, as someone coming in from the outside, everything in here just looks like people throwing guesses at a wall.

I guess we shall see.

I got from the brief exchange that the stories/legends were around the Jedi/Sith/Force, rather than the results of the rebels in OT and the end of the Empire.

Which is fitting, as in the OT, the Jedi were a distant memory, and Han originally didn't believe the Force existed. Plus only a few people would have know about the Sith.

It seems that the Outer Rim is like a cross between Nazi Germany and North Korea at this point. 30 years might be a stretch but it's in the realm of plausibility.

also lol the evil guy is Americano, heroes are English

that happened in American movie history a total of zero times until Kingsman

These guy forgot about Jedi in 19 years...

But really, the galaxy is big and while the acts of a few have effected it immensely, it's all going to be word of mouth for the most part. I bet Leia is the most well known out of them all, even if Luke "beat" The Emperor.

We had a Hollywood movie dramatizing the raid on Bin Laden a couple of years after it happened. Legends start quick

All I want is a good script and sincere acting.

That's all I need out of this. That's all it really needs to be better than Episodes 1,2,3.

Most of the lines and the delivery in Ep. 1,2,3 were laughably bad. It was cringeworthy crap from really great actors!!!!

Ewan, Liam, Hayden, Natalie - those are great actors and the lines they had to speak were soooooooo bad.

Whomever took over must have some crazy propaganda campaign going. Rebel survivors may have been hunted down*

*These are all assumptions; I have no spoiler info

#spoilers, Luke's new apprentice who's a secret jedi in the movie :p

1.jpg

I think id be okay with that as I enjoyed those games very much.

How are there spoilers for a movie 2 months away? Also how would you know what is true?

People getting way over-sensitive with the "this MIGHT BE A SPOILER" when it's really just a discussion on what happened in the trailer, and conjecture.

Spoilers have been out there for forever. And, take it from someone who has read some of them. In every one of these threads, this one included, there are tons of people "guessing" those exact spoilers.

I don't understand how everyone is ignorant or forgot that they saved the galaxy. It's all stories and myth now, even the jedi? Not buying it

Luke was the only new Jedi in the entire original trilogy. It's not like they were commonplace in the world. And Vader didn't make house calls. It's not unreasonable to think that the general population of the universe never even knew that two guys with force powers and lightsabers were at the middle of this war. They just think it was the Imperial army against the Rebels.

I love that they still haven't really shown any of the movie. Half the characters are still unseen, including Luke, and there's no real hint at the plot.
It's actually gonna be full of surprises come opening day.

yea I gotta agree with others on the look finn had when kylo was walking to him

was on some ".....how the fuck did I get into this shit...."

can't wait to see the fight

Honestly, I blame the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars for all this. Lucas went crazy and shoved a shit tone of Jedi all up in there because light sabers are cool. In the OT, Jedi and the Force were myth and 'ancient religion'.

One thing to remember too is that even though 1-3 are cannon, Abrams has stated that this is a direct sequel to the OT, specifically ROTJ.

apparently Rey and Finn missed school on the day where they taught the fall of the Imperial Order in history class.

But I get it, it's Star Wars, we need to nitpick the balls off of it.

Man, this is a magical time. I snagged tickets for my dad, brother, and friends. We're all doing the marathon, watching the OT for the first time in theaters, other than my dad.

The leaked script has been out for a while now. Some of these spoilers are legit.

The spoilers always came off as people building something around the existing teasers, trailers and various promotional stuff we've received. Have we ever gotten a supposed leak, and then have it later validated by something in the trailer?

Because people that I consider to be authorities on here (BobbyRoberts, among others) have said as much. I don't know what's real in here and what's not, but plenty of people know what's up with this movie. That's a fact.

And yeah, people should take the spoiler shit elsewhere. It's not cool.

Outer Rim of the Galaxy! Find a barely inhabited island in the South Pacific and ask them about Germany and WW2

Edit: Forget it.

Ugh I hope those weren't actual spoilers from the leaked script cuz if they were im really upset that the fun of the movie is ruined now.

Jesus christ calm down. I know some of you got real hyped by this but let's not get crazy and say ridiculous things over a trailer/

Is it so wrong to think its possible? Come on guys. Just because the PT failed to do it doesn't mean it will never happen. Even my lack of trust in Abrams isn't stopping me from digging what I'm seeing. Lets not forget Kasdan helped write this too.
