I liked the trailer and I'm sure the movie will be good, but I don't have astronomical hype since I didn't grow up with the whole series like most people did. I've only seen the prequels.

Yes, I should watch the originals, but I don't have a pressing desire to do so.

I was never one of the huge followers of Star Wars even though I absolutely loved Ep 4 to 6 but this trailer truly makes me believe that they will follow up to the succes of those movies, and actually improve upon it in a myriad of ways.

That soundtrack as well.. Goosebumps. Goosebumps everywhere.

Oh you are going to be THAT GUY huh?

jk its not as uncommon as you think

My prediction:

- John Boyega / Finn obviously defects from the remnant Empire and hooks up with the OG crew. Meets Luke and becomes a Jedi, along with Rey.
- Finn and Rey face down Kylo Ren, get whooped.
- Luke dies a la Obi Wan, leaving the light side Jedis on their own.
- In the meantime Oscar Isaac / Poe Dameron is captured or defects, becoming Kylo Ren's apprentice.
- Grand finale is Ren vs Rey and Finn. Kylo Ren dies but Dameron the apprentice lives on and will be the bad guy in the next film(s).

I'm probably hopelessly wrong but ya gotta come up with something. That's half the fun.

The thing is the plot is pretty much unknown still even with all the trailers. The only thing you get out of it is there is a bad guy and there are good guys and they'll fight.

Sounds to me like Vader had another protege or fanatic follower thus becoming the man who will fulfill Vader's wish; the death of the Jedi's and everyone following the Dark Side.

Doubt there will be a huge secretive plot as to how and why the Jedi and Sith will be fighting each other again.

Visually it looks good, not great. Han Solo is as lame I expected, Rey's arc already looks like a boring carbon copy of Luke's arc. Kylo Ren has a corny voice.

Fin is gonna be awesome.

I seriously hope Kylo Ren does not die in TFA, among other factors villain rotation in PT ended up being a disaster.

One solid villain that would live on for most of the ST, that's what I want, no monster-of-the-week Marvel villains please.

Dude

Im loving Boyega

Seems fucking perfrect for the role. So animated and that scene where hes about to fight

You can see the fear and adrenaline in his eyes. Cant wait to see more of him on screen

Dude is boss.

Imago watch Attack The Block again.

I would love that too. I just wonder if modern movie studios are interested in the "long game" for villains anymore. Either way though I'm certain Dameron goes dark side, that's the only thing I'd make a bet on.

I do like the idea that someone is continuing Darth Vader's will without the knowledge that he was also the Empire's greatest traitor.

Some nice delicious irony that I hope JJ doesn't squander.

Do you guys even bother to think these through before making these ridiculous speculations?

That pretty much my guess. With the Lipito character being a student of Luke who takes over teaching rey and Finn after Luke dies. I'm guessing she is the women's voice asking who rely is at the start of the trailer.

I also don't think kylo ren will die, but he may be badly physically injured in a fight against Luke (where Luke dies). This would then give the second film the plot of training up rey and Finn as Jedis and Poe getting trained up as a bad guy by kylo. Which would ultimately culminate in a final film about Finn v poe and rey v ren.

Yeah man I was thinking the same thing!

Will be cool to see if that actually plays out

Uh no that's why it's rampant speculation.

Throwing darts at the board in blind hype, that's half the fun of watching trailers man.

I think SOME of it will be true but it's just a guess.

I really think at this point these teaser trailers that hide any information are certainly played out. Teaser trailers over the course of a year have dulled the impact of this final teaser trailer.

Thank goodness the movie comes out soon.

Really?

I have the exact opposite feeling.

With this trailer I was finally feeling that good old Star Wars hype. Those teaser trailers did absolutely nothing for me.

I don't sense a strong studio interruption. Also the Marvel movies have "long game" villains, Thanos. Not exactly the same but they've been teasing him for a bunch of movies now. I'm sure Disney knows the movie will make bank and probably let Abrams and Kasdan have creative freedom.

I feel like all the new characters will stay till the end. The only one I get the feeling that might die is Dameron.

I am not feeling this film at all. Its self importance is off the charts in a way that it grates away any enjoyment that could be found. The new actors are all stone walls with not a drop of mirth to be found (in trailers at least) Bringing in the tired old actors has the opposite of getting me hyped and just brings me down too.

I don't really know what everyones seeing in it really thats how cold each trailer has left me.

The idea that the force and the Jedi are a myth is cool. And it makes sense. No one saw what Luke or Vader did on the Death Star. Most of the galaxy probably thinks the emperor and Vader died on the 2nd Death Star.

... I really hope Luke doesn't die. They don't need to make him Obi Two.

I don't even know shit about Star Ware but this trailer almost made me cry. The cinematography was so top notch, my body couldn't handle it. Y'all wasn't joking when you guys said Star Wars will fuck it up. Jurassic World RIP

I don't think anyone though Jurassic World was going to be better let alone a bigger box office success. There was a bunch of crazies that that Avengers would be bigger but they look more foolish every day.

Its hard to tell since basically there is hardly any in movie dialogue from the characters. That may work for some, but damn I would like to hear the characters speak a bit more in the trailers.

I used to be an old school Star Wars fan. Remember seeing ROTJ 12 times in the cinema. Ha I had all those Keller figures, the AT-AT and the ole Millennium Falcon. Those were happy days.

When George Lucas announced he was making the prequels, I have to confess I was so hyped for them, as you can imagine it didn't end well. I saw The Phantom Menace in the cinema, it had a lasting legacy on me. It was the last ever time I ever set foot in a cinema. I haven't even seen the other 2 pre-quells.

Now fast forward to today. I watched this trailer and at first I wasn't "feeling it". Sure it was nice to see Han but dear god Leia hasn't aged well. I thought the new baddie was horribly mediocre (seriously that mask he is wearing is pretty crappy) and I was disappointed with the absence of Luke too.

However having watched it again I am kinda feeling it a bit now. I still think the new baddie is shit and I wouldn't say I am hyped for it. I still have no intention of setting foot inside a cinema to watch it. However I am open to seeing it when it hits a home format.

Oh and the girl in it is unbearably cute :-D

I am not sure whether it's because I got old or George Lucas did such a successful job of killing my love of Star Wars with the phantom menace.

I'm exactly like you. I'm still excited to see the new Star Wars. but I just have no real hype for it even though I like what I see. I saw the trailer twice this morning and it was...good I guess. It felt very serious to me and not what I expected from Star Wars (lighthearted adventure). I'm still gonna watch it and hopefully I'll enjoy it, but I probably won't go to see it in the cinema.

Exactly and considering the War has seemingly never ended and has gone through different phases. The Rebellion if anything potentially made the Galaxy a lot worse off as it would seem it went from rag tagged groups out on dust worlds to potentially a Galaxy wide thing that has torn the Galaxy apart.

A Galaxy seemingly at War for decades now after the "heroes" made their big blow. Not hard to see how it becomes more of a myth as nothing really supports the idea that these valiant heroes did anything

This is basically where I am am.

Not really a huge Star Wars fan but am cautiously optimistic about this movie.
I am hoping it will save the franchise from the movie hell the prequels left it in.

It's a JJ Abrams joint, so worst case scenario, it will be another blue and orange infused, super slick, rather unfocused and woefully forgetable product with no soul at all, yet somewhat enjoyable.

Read: Nu Star Trek with 99% less pointy ears.

John Boyega will bring the soul

Count on it

I read what you wrote and honestly can't see how anyone with blood on their veins could feel the way you do. Whatever. The movie may just not be for you.

I'm pretty much expecting this. He can put a funtional movie together and is a master of marketing, but all of his films just feel a bit sterile and routine. Instead of leaving the theater with your mind blown it's just like "ok that was pretty good."

I was just thinking this (after watching it for the 22nd time.....).

He actually looks like someone who is about to fight a Sith Lord, and is hella scared.. truly scared.

Stone walls? They have barely gotten any lines. We haven't even seen one of them speak in a scene (not VO). Hell we haven't even heard Isaac's character speak.

The only actor that I'm not sure of is Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. The former has appeared in pretty much nothing so I have no way to judge her acting chops. The latter I've only seen him in Attack the Block which was not that complex of a role but wasn't bad in it either. Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Gleeson are great actors though.

I do think Harrison Ford is tired and I'm not excited to see him in the movie but I can't judge Fischer or Hamill since we haven't seen shit of them.

Really hoping this is not the case.

New-Trek was awful.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Luke dying if he went out on a peaceful note. Like, him "sleeping for the last time" as the sun sets in Tatooine. After what he's done in the OT, I think he deserves to go out on a note like that, rather than being killed off to hype up the new villain or whatever.
