Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Can someone who has already spoiled his or herself read tell me if my brothers so-called theory is true? He claims he came up with this all on his own. If it's true then that is one crazy twist. If he is passing actual spoilers off as theory them I'm gonna kick his ass!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb. So in the prequels the emperor talks about the dark side bent powerful enough to bring people back to life....I am calling that the follower of darth vader is gonna be able to resurrect the spirit of vader into another human. Maybe that Poe guy.

I'm completely devastated at the lack of Nien Nunb. He helps blow up Death Star 2: Electric Boogaloo, then gets immediately forgotten. The man is a hero! He helped saved the galaxy! And I think we all know he's the one who really piloted the Millennium Falcon out of the Death Star. Lando was probably smashed on Colt 45s. I demand to be given a new in-canon novel to write about cults springing up to worship him.
I thought it was confirmed that both he and Ackbar are in this movie?

That whole "the Jedi and Sith are mythical" 30 years after ROTJ is not the worst timeline offender if you count the ones done by the prequel trilogy.

.

I mean, the Jedi were basically extinct by the time A New Hope started. And the Empire worked hard to get rid any trace of the Jedi whether it be killing them or destroying their temple/archives.

I would be surprised if everyone knew who Luke or the Jedi were.

Don't forget it also returns to Dagobah and Yoda. ROTJ doesn't get its own flavor until the final third of the movie, death star attack aside (which get's excused because it's even better than the one in ANH).

ROTJ was the first SW film to return to previous locations. In ANH you see Tatooine and Yavin, and see Alderaan from a distance briefly. In ESB you see Hoth, Dagobah and Bespin, and an asteroid field. Then in ROTJ you're back on Tatooine and Dagobah (and Endor as a new place).
You can argue going back to Tatooine for the third film works as a bookend for Luke's journey, but it's not played up like that all that much.

Then in the Prequels you see Coruscant, Tatooine and Naboo in all three films, particularly Coruscant which really wore out its welcome. Makes the galaxy feel a little small, without even getting into all the overdone connections (like Vader building C3PO and having R2D2 as his droid).

Luke is well known to the galaxy for being the pilot who destroyed the Death Star, not for being a Jedi. As far as we know, nobody even knows what happened at Endor. His first canonical appearance after Endor so far in the new comics and books is him three months later asking Poe Dameron's mom to fly him somewhere.

Meet the new EU. Same as the old EU.

What in there compares to the insanity of the old EU?

Dameron's mom (name Shara Bey) is the protagnist of Shattered Empire mini series, her job is to fly people from place to place and guard them. In issue 2 of 4 she flies Leia to Naboo.

There is absolute zero chance it isn't better than the prequels. There's a chance it's not a great movie, obviously. But, it'll still be better than anything out of the prequels. That's just a fact.
Yeah, you'd actually have to seriously try to be worse than Attack of the Clones to be worse than that was.

I like the moment where Finn is all confidence with his lightsaber, then Kylo turns his on and there's a pants crapping moment

These are still two people that are not as well trained as most people in saber fights we've seen, so I wonder if it will be a noob slog fest. That could be even more exciting though if it's more visceral and less precise. And hopefully no waltzing

That stride into battle is straight out of The Raid. I really hope those guys had a lot of input on the fight choreography.

The Empire wasn't actually destroyed after Jedi - both Star Wars Aftermath and the Shattered Empire comic go into this a bit. Fractured and depleted but alive. Just about.

yes, and it appears, thus far, that they managed to consolidate their strength between those events and TFA (that's the non-book/comic spoilery version).

also - why is it hard to believe that the data sources were wiped? Luke didn't know anything about the force or the jedi, most didn't by his age due to the Emperor wiping them out, turning the Jedi temple into his palace, etc.

Even in the Old Republic era, Jedi were rare - and most in the galaxy had never seen them.

That's not to say the tales of them don't exist, but if no one had really seen a Jedi in, at this point, 50 years (unless you ran into Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.. 30 years ago) - then you could understand how they would just be stories, with no real proof

Can someone who has read spoilers answer this for me:
Is Ren, Rey's twin brother and are they Leia's and Han's children?
Is Ren secretly being manipulated by an Evil master Sith (Serkis) that will emerge from the shadows in EpVIII, allowing Ren some kind of redemption?
If so is it addressed in the script how Han and Leia could have failed so miserably as parents? It feels a bit like Han would smack his son to Alderaan and back if he would develop a giant mancrush on his evil Sith granddad?

This is probably the best kept secret within Disney/Lucasfilm right now. The only absolute is that both Rey and Ren are children of either Leia or Luke.

2nd question is correct. Ren is hearing voices from a mysterious, ancient alien who is clearly a powerful force within the Dark Side, not the Sith.

Han and Leia have been separated for years.

Finally had a chance to watch it frame by frame

a few observations - probably wrong, but spoilers non the less

Looks like Han is heading them into that building with the Robot guard.

Falcon gets shot down :(

Is she crying over Chewies body?

I'm glad things just look much less dorky. Obviously advances in technology and materials help with this, but I needed to point this out. Very nice to see.

That red robot in the shot where they are following Han into an old temple/building looked pretty great. Really looking forward to seeing some of the cg aliens designed for this film.

Watto, Sebulba and a few others from the PT were very memorable, but I think if they can go slightly more realistic and less cartoony (for ex. no huge over-expressive eyes) we can have ourselves some real iconic aliens.

Apparently that's a practical droid. Paul Bateman (Star Wars artist & concept artist) claims to have seen the actual prop, which he theorises is driven by a small person on stilts.

That's not Chewie. It's Han.

interesting.. In that case I don't care if the main aliens are all cg or a combination of practical and cg, as long as they're iconic. I want this trilogy to introduce an alien as iconic as Chewie.

Or she could be crying over
Finns body, looks like his Jacket on floor to her left, chewie is just in front of her, maybe finn dies, or maybe shes just crying cos she found out finn's gone to confront Kylo , if not finn then poe

Listening to rebel force radio, a guy there who works on these things (not this picture) and drifts in and out of Pinewood during filming confirms this is a practical model, not cgi, hes seen it

We don't know if it happens that way. Note that when Finn looks scared his saber is actually still igniting. So theres two separate ignitions. They might be out of order. He might be scared at first but then later in the fight gains confidence for some reason. Maybe he gets help or Ren fucks up.

Probably not though. Probably had the saber knocked away and he scrambled and got it back while Ren was just all "tired of this amateur shit" attitude.

Speculation!

Everyone being connected to the main characters. It's a big universe, could we please have protagonists who aren't one of the OTs protags father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.

Why would Luke need to be flown anywhere or guarded? And what a coincidence who does it... Everyone knows everyone! Barf.

Is the chick gonna be a Jedi?

I sure hope so.... Would be awesome to see a bad ass female jedi take the lead. I think Boyega takes up the lightsaber to defend hismelf and not necessarily because hes a jedi.

Not going to go into any details here but I don't think I'm spoiling by saying that
Poe does not turn into Darth Vader lol.

Pretty boring trailer.

So this new Stars Wars has a black lead, and a woman lead? Is this ensemble now, or is there a central protagonist like Luke? Guessing the woman must be Luke's daughter? She's white. He's white. Makes sense. She can be Lukeia of this trilogy. Black guy definitely can't be his. He's also a Nazi, so that's clearly an issue. What kind of dad would let his son become one of those folks?

I'm guessing one of Luke, Leia or Han are going to die in these movies. It'd be a pretty obvious way of setting up this new trilogy. Luke seems least likely unless it's some kind of major sacrifice at the end of the trilogy or something. He's probably a bit too important for that. So that brings us to Leia or Han. I'm guessing one of these two is dead meat in this movie to set up the emotional stakes for the next two. Which one is more expendable than the other?

I want to say Leia since Han seems like a more popular character, but then Harrison Ford doesn't seem like the type to be involved in a whole new Star Wars trilogy since he seems lazy. Plus, he's popular so maybe his death would hurt people more.

I'm hoping they surprise me, and all three live on. But it feels storytelling rules dictate one or two of them have to die.

Excited to see this. There hasn't been a really good blockbuster this year aside from Mad Max. It feels disappointing compared to last year. Spectre and this need to deliver really.
